Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Eugh had a telephone consultation with the gp this morning because my hip is so bad (I will need a replacement at some point) and was hoping she would just do me a referral but she wants me to go in. I was hoping to not have to go out again until Monday HmmGrin

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 11:24

Hope your DD feels better soon, MrsM. Sounds rubbish, bless her!

What do they think an examination will show Wreck?

My hands are red raw from all the soap/detergents. Think I need to get some proper cream from the chemist Sad

Mrsmadevans · 13/03/2020 11:33

Just delivered Mum to Bob's 🤗
Firefly girl thank you r Dd2 she has ring me she's going to the out of hours in Cardiff tonight. The game is going ahead so she will have to go to work tomorrow as per . I used to use Burt's Bees hand cream on Mine when they were bad from work 'Firefly girl' it's good stuff 🤗💐
Wreck go and get it done before the Coughed get in there 💐🙄🤗

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 11:41

Apparently in Italy, water is turning into wine. That's one way to cope with quarantine I suppose...

BiddyPop · 13/03/2020 11:46

All is well just slightly chaotic chez Biddy. Dd off school but working away (geography teacher having an online class this morning and she’s been doing tech graphics drawings as well). DH working local to home not the city centre office. I’m on a days leave anyway so finally getting a haircut (it was due 8 weeks ago so gone wild 🦹‍♀️). But as we are Christmas peepers, I was also quietly making my regular winter season peeps slightly more meaningful recently - food stocks good, wood for stove is ok, I have extra resources for dd homeschooling (like a chemistry set to do some experiments and improve lab technique, and German grammar book - I’m cruel!!🤣). And I have my own and dd meds, and some extra ordinary remedies that we tend to use frequently.

But the whole place went mad yesterday. everyone on the train commenting last night had bags of groceries. Supermarkets were worse than Christmas Eve!! And nothing left on shelves.

Organising work priorities and staffing issues (who needs to mind kids, and how can childless ones not have to do everything, what’s urgent to finish and what can people work on at home that’s not confidential, who has or needs the few laptops we have...).

Coordinating leaders in 2 different groups about cancelling or running events (totally cancelled in 1 group, the other mostly cancelled except 1 outdoor activity in small groups that can maintain distance). Reassuring lots of parents about those cancellations. Then todAy is all very quiet around.

WreckTangled · 13/03/2020 11:48

Exactly firefly. I've had hip dysplasia my whole life I need an up to day x ray and a referral to a surgeon

I'm here now it's pretty quiet although the car park is full. My manager is in which is weird as she doesn't work Fridays. I'm hiding from colleagues though as I'm not wearing any make up Grin

You need some Aveeno for your hands or even flexitol heel balm before bed. You would want it on during the day as it's greasy.

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 13:42

Thanks for the suggestion, Wreck. I'll add it to the online shop.

DH has suggested I add tinned fruit and loo roll Hmm

Bet that was exciting, Biddy. Livens up a normally boring time of year, I suppose...

PJMasksGhekko · 13/03/2020 14:09

No hand sanitizer as expected, but we did get the soap she needs for her art class, 15 p in Tesco's so she was happy.

WreckTangled · 13/03/2020 14:38

My dc love tinned peaches

NerosFiddle · 13/03/2020 15:22

I've had a tin of peaches in my cupboard for about a year. I keep forgetting about it. If it's still in date I might make a crumble tomorrow.

Wine, crisps and teabags purchased. Tesco have 80 teabags for 58p. God only knows what they're like but they'll do for that price.

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 15:40

Didn't they find tinned fruit from the Antarctic expedition in 1913??

I think tinned food is 'best before' rather than 'use by'. Everyone to Nero's for peach crumble tomorrow Grin PJ can bring the soap so we can all wash up before we eat. I'll bring loo roll, but it'll be rationed...Wink

Mrsmadevans · 13/03/2020 18:39

Evening everyone Smile
DD2 was shocked by the announcement of the game being cancelled. What silly men on the board of the WRU to delay the decision till today. So many ppl have already gone there it's so bad of them . DD2 is staying overnight in Cardiff and still working tomorrow to answer the phone calls and emails Hmm she could have doen with coming home really but hey ho Hmm
Nero the 58p Tesco T bags are alright you just need half a box to get a decent cuppa Grin Grin

Firefly wasn't it fruit cake Grin

Mrsmadevans · 13/03/2020 18:48

No toilet rolls in Tesco, Aldi, Wilko or Waitrose but managed to get some from Morrisons Grin
Biddy hope you got all your shopping in Smile
Wreck l nursed so many children who had Hip dyplasia surgery , how didn't you have it done before m'dear? They all seemed to be fine after, so l am sure you will be up and about in a few days after it Flowers
PJ glad you got your Dd soap and there is a huge shortage of the gel, on another thread they were saying that their Dd gym had their stock of gel 'confiscated' for the local hospital. How true this is l don't know Shock comes to something when they have to take it from a gym!!

EmrysAtticus · 13/03/2020 18:58

Yay it's the weekend! What are everyone's plans? DS has a birthday party tomorrow and I want to get the first of the digging done on the allotment so I can get planting soon. Desperately need to get my spring planting garlic in!

WreckTangled · 13/03/2020 18:58

It's wasn't picked up mrs. A surgeon once offered a hammer and chisel job on my hips but we decided against it knowing that I'll need a replacement in the near future

pussycatinboots · 13/03/2020 19:26

that D&V bug that I had a day or two ago, and thought had gone...guess who was properly wrong? And now a wonderfully heavy peri period too. I'm knackered.

A belated thanks for all the birthday wishes. It's been a memorable one!

Happy Birthday to miniFirefly Cake

Hope everyone is ok, I'll catch up tomorrow.

EmrysAtticus · 13/03/2020 19:35

Oh no boots! Hope it clears off pronto for you.

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 19:52

Oh, boots, how rubbish! Of course you would get a horrific period as well CakeWineGin

Thanks for DS's birthday wishes. He's had a lovely day, lots of exciting presents (including Lego that we haven't been able to play with yet, poor thing!) Oreos and beans on toast for breakfast and then fun with his cousin and Nana after school. Kid is genuinely living the dream Grin

Emrys we're at a birthday party tomorrow as well. I'd originally booked DS's for tomorrow back in November, figured I'd send the invitations 4 weeks before, then got pipped by one of his classmates, so had to rearrange for the end of the month. Plan is hairdresser at 9, while DS and DH play Lego, then up to the allotment about 12.30 to get the onion sets and early potatoes in, and bare root cherry trees. Home and washed for the party, more Lego then bed. Sunday I'll probably do more at the allotment in the morning while DS and DH are at rugbytots, then we're having my parents/DSis and her family round for tea for a joint celebration of DS's and DDad's birthdays. I'm planning to do stew and dumplings, with lemon meringue for pudding. Whether that's what happens will depend what is missing from the Morrisons delivery tomorrow...

NerosFiddle · 13/03/2020 19:59

Fire all of the soft play places here have closed.

Wreck I had HD too and so does ds. We were both in a harness for months as babies. In cold weather and at other times I still get a bad ache in my hip.

Mrs everything should have been cancelled last week. The Liverpool match ok Wednesday shouldn't have been allowed to go ahead.

Boots a hot water bottle and a good nights sleep for you.

FireflyGirl · 13/03/2020 20:12

It's just the local village hall, Nero's. As is ours, so all going ahead at the moment.

Depending how it goes, may need to uninvite grandparents. And disinfect the bouncy castle - I'll add that to my list of party chores to delegate Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/03/2020 20:19

I woke up this morning with cramp in my leg and Steve Allen whittering on LBC (luckily I fell asleep and zoned out Grin )

DH has cancelled our cruise . I thought this would be the case TBH , things are not looking good and the thought of being quarantined doesn't appeal. Or my employer thinking "Hmmm so you chose to go off on holiday to a known Coronovirus site with your lungs ..."
So it'll be put on long term hold .

My handwashing at work is pretty rigorous anyway , gloves, aprons, cleaning the couch before each treatment . My poor hands are mangled anyway . I;m not a fan of gel but I use it when I have to de-glove/re-glove .
Patients kept saying "Oh I;m surprised you're open" .... Early days , still , early days . Corona will knock the NHS bandy Sad

Mrsmadevans · 13/03/2020 21:21

Wreck ahh love that was a bad miss for you . Suppose it was the right decision to wait for you to have a hip replacement but it just sucks really Flowers
70 that is so disappointing for you re the cruise Flowers
Boot hope you feel much better now, take care m;dear Flowers
Nero l totally agree they should have done this when England cancelled their match, it's ridiculous Hmm
Firefly l didn't realise it was your Ds birthday , ahhh bless him it sounds as if he had a great day though Smile
Em supposed to be nice tomorrow so you can get that Garlic in ! Grin
We have been catching up on old tv programmes tonight, we have just watched the first series of Two Doors Down and it was fab Grin

PJMasksGhekko · 13/03/2020 21:58

Firefly it's a deal Grin

Wishful thinking I know, but I'm hoping work will provide at least 1 hand gel, it's so not going to happen!!

Plans for the weekend, work.

I do think that schools will be closing, just not sure when, the email I've had suggests things are being put into place for teachers to work from home, so I do think something will happen and soon. Could be totally wrong though Grin

pussycatinboots · 14/03/2020 05:52

Morning. 6 hours sleep was nice Smile waking up with cramps and finding out i'd leaked, no so much. Showered, changed, washer on all by 4.30.
DH has begun painting the fence panels, so can carry on with that intermittently for months Grin I need to clean and disinfect the ensuites Blush and change the bed.

Glad everyone's ok, although fluffy you seem to be awol?

NoWordForFluffy · 14/03/2020 07:07

Morning!

Sorry, it was a busy day yesterday two visits to the pub! And then I was drunk and tired. Grin

It's greenhouse-building day today. I may be planning divorce by tonight. 😂😂
