Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

cross stitch looks great Crazy

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 22:21

Have a look at this lol
I copied & pasted

"We need to get supplies," said Piglet. "For the Coronavirus"

"Ahh," said Pooh, nodding in understanding. "Things like bread, milk, cough mixture, tissues and cat litter even though we don't have a cat?"

Piglet did a little laugh, and a sort of leap and bit of a cough. "No," said Piglet. "No, those aren't the sort of supplies we need at all! What we need are family sized bags of chocolate buttons, massive toblerone, jelly babies and crunchies and a freezer full of stuffed crust pizzas, and all of the Prosecco that we can possibly carry, so that when we get quarantined we won't mind it even slightly. THOSE are supplies."

All of a sudden, Pooh thought that the idea of coronavirus didn't seem quite so bad, and actually, getting quarantined with Piglet and their supplies really didn't sound such a terrible thing after all. "Oh Piglet," said Pooh. "I really do think you are a very wise animal."

FireflyGirl · 05/03/2020 22:31

Isn't everyone stockpiling chocolate and booze? And loo roll Wink

No Crunchies, though. They're just wrong! I'll make an exception for Crunchie Rocks - I like them Grin

PJMasksGhekko · 05/03/2020 22:33

Love it Mrs Grin

Mrsmadevans · 05/03/2020 22:38

I forgot to add those Terry's choc eggs for Wreck Grin

pussycatinboots · 06/03/2020 03:47

Crazy It's looking fine now. I think you will be finished before fluffy Wink

PJ by the power of thought, your son will hand over his nerf gun!

Mrs and Firefly Grin I need to stockpile more Walkers Crisps and Minstrels...and alcohol (for medicinal purposes, obvs). Just think of it as preparing for a "lock-in" over Christmas Wink

Morning!

I'm on the first train as I'm going to a conference in Nottingham. A colleague is going to drive us there (3 of us are going).

Crazy, that's looking good. I've taken a break from mine to give my eyes a rest. I'll be back on it tomorrow, I think. You'll definitely finish before me!

I'm a worse sleep talker than why, or was as a child. Everyone hated being in a family hotel room with me, as it was more likely to happen in a strange bed! DS has whole arguments with DD in his sleep! Grin

Piglet sounds very sensible. Smile

My work has asked everybody to take their laptops in to get configured for home working today. Or they'll be sent instructions on how to set their desktop up. At least they're getting prepared, so if we have to self isolate for some reason we can still work and get paid.

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 06/03/2020 06:25

M6 then A50? That sounds fun Hmm. Nottingham is lovely.

Everyone needs a Piglet in their life to instill balance and reasoning and provide sweets, although I do need litter for my furry friends Smile

Watching BBC Breakfast. That Mike bloke that was on strictly...either he's going to the same tanning salon as Donald Trump or I need a new telly! Grin He resembles the Home Shopping Channel guy from the Bridget Jones film.

WreckTangled · 06/03/2020 06:35

Fluffy our work has said the same re VPN. I already have it. But it's an unusual move considering we have a strict no working from home policy within our trust. I wouldn't be able to do anything anyway as I'm unqualified.

Mrs that's funny. I love crunchies Grin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 06/03/2020 07:00

Morning everyone. Last day of this course thankfully. I was in bed asleep by 20.45.

Mrs that is my type of isolation!

Fluffy the time you and mum were sharing a bed and you stood up shouting there's something on me is my favourite.

I have the VPN Wreck as well nobody has suggested I stay at home, I will end up in the thick of it somewhere without a doubt.

EmrysAtticus · 06/03/2020 08:23

Safe travel Fluffy. DH is trying to get out of a trip to London next week but his work aren't having it.

Love the piglet thing Grin

It's actually supposed to be dry and mild tomorrow, can finally crack on with the allotment!!!

WreckTangled · 06/03/2020 12:37

Spent loads but feel a bit better having plenty in! School showing assembly has been cancelled today 😷

NoWordForFluffy · 06/03/2020 12:48

Got here safely (amazingly; terrible, terrible driving. Pray for me for the journey home).

Lunch time now!

Yes, Emrys, you need to get there when you can! 🌞

That's my favourite one too, why. Apparently I was fidgeting for ages before I stood up too. That was when we came to collect you from the summer thing you did down in the SW.

Happy International Women's Day ❤️

Someone at work always leaves a little note and some chocolate on our desks, like a little Elf Grin.

It was only a Post-It last year, but I still kept it as I thought how nice that they'd taken the time to handwrite a message. Clearly, they've upped their game this year Grin

I think it's lovely!

PJMasksGhekko · 06/03/2020 13:53

Awww that's lovely Fire Smile

I will be taking the Nerf gun off DS if he shoots me with it again puss Grin

We've had some sad news this morning, so I've my mum's dog for a bit, who is being terrorised by my dog Grin

WreckTangled · 06/03/2020 13:55

Ds loves a nerf gun.

Firefly that's so nice!

Fluffy good luck getting home! Grin

pussycatinboots · 06/03/2020 15:37

Firefly Ada is amazing, she's the daughter of Lord Byron and a mathematician who worked with Charles Babbage. She really is why strangers can be friends over t'internet Smile

PJ hope the dogs are getting on ok, or the nerf gun might be needed as a distraction!

Fluffy I have become a terrible passenger too.

There are no loo rolls in our local Sainsburys, a few tissues, critical levels of alphabeti spaghetti Grin plenty of bread and milk, the soup aisle has taken a beating, loads of cake, no paracetomol or ibuprofen at all not even the expensive stuff, loads of cat litter and beer less after my trolley happened to roll byWink

DH has mowed the lawn and had a nap in the conservatory Hmm I've cleaned as much as my hands will let me and am now coated in savlon ouch I ought to wear gloves but they make my skin creep.

Mrsmadevans · 06/03/2020 19:48

Evening everyone Smile
Am a bit late but Happy International Woman's Day everyone Flowers
Went to Tesco today before Mum's to buy her and Bob 8 X FRESH cream & jam donuts & 4 egg custards Grin they are eating 2 each a day Grin
We then took Mum up to Bob's . We went to Merthyr via the Storey Arms road and the snow on the mountains was beautiful. It's been a lovely day Smile
I bought this Frozen Kitchen for £1 in Wilko's , which was a real bargain & Boots had 90% off today so l bought the Toucan Christmas cards and the wrapping paper . I have had my eye on it for a long time. HP bath bombs for only £1.80 and Bob's your uncle Grin
So what has been going on today?
Fluffy l hope you got home in one piece Shock Grin
Why glad your course has finished now, my kind of isolation too Grin
PJ sorry to hear you had sad news m'dear, hope the dogs get on ok Flowers
Firefly Girl ahh that is so lovely of whoever did that , l would need to find out to be extra nice back to them lol nothing to do with my curiosity
Pussy My Dh cut the lawn too Grin he's shattered now and just lolling asleep on the sofa with his head almost hitting the wall every time he drops his head Grin. Have not heard of Ada either but very sweet of the person to give it to their workmates with Firefly Girl . Tesco was well stocked with everything here so l don't think ppl are that worried here by the looks Hmm
I wonder if Mike off the sport in the morning is on the SCD tour but l did look for some white bits and couldn't see any , not in person so it was either a really good tan or a really good spray tan Grin .He was orange on my telly Grin
Em it's been so lovely here today , they give the same tomorrow you will be able to have a good few hours in the allotment Smile
Wreck glad you got some supplies in you don't want to be caught short with nowt in and 4 of you to feed , it would be bad enough being in isolation without having something nice to eat ! Smile
Better shift, Dh woken up just now without managing to give himself concussion Grin
Masterchef to catch up on YAY!

HelloEveryBodyPeeps Xmas Grin

Just got back from DParents (drive involving M6/M1/M25 ..oh the delights !), first proper long run with my motor (bought in August) .
There were ,of course, some utter wankers out there on the road (as per)

Took DDad out to the supermarket (D'you want any heavy/bulky stuff or frezer food?) they have plenty of laundry detergents, washing up liquid and loo-roll .

He went out for a wander on his own while I sat in with DMum , and tottered in with a huge pack of loo-roll that he didn't need and we couldn't bought to save him carrying it on the bus

NoWordForFluffy · 06/03/2020 20:02

Evening! I'm home in one piece. Grin

Boots, tailgating at 70mph+ at less than one car's distance is bloody terrifying (I'm a bad passenger, but this was awful, unsafe, driving). I'm not keen at accelerating at the back of braking cars either!

Mrs, sounds like a good day.

Firefly, that's lovely of your work! I don't know what we've done as I've not been there.

70, the M6 is awful, isn't it? I find the M1 less busy in the main so more palatable.

Wreck, I'm glad you got a good amount of food in. You must feel happier.

Boots, the locusts have been into your Sainsbury's!

I think Mum's dog was worn out mrs Grin

I'm tired this evening, so I'm going to enjoy a glass of wine and chill.

pussycatinboots · 06/03/2020 21:00

70 You must have watched Saturday Night Live in the 80s Grin

fluffy sounds pretty bad. I guess if you have to travel to something again you'll make your own way if you can?

Mrs that's a lot of Cake

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/03/2020 21:24

Fluffy the M6 had a southbound accident when I was going north ( on Sunday) and another today (in the contra-flow) when I was going south. I debated going in the contra flow lane but I thought "Its only one lane so if there's any problems I'm stuck" .......... Ambulance and Fire Engine in situ Sad (I was in the Left Hand lanes so didn't see much) .

I do like the M6 Toll Road , but for £6ish , I should be allowed to do whatever speed I want not be restricted to 70mph (in spite of my User Name). It was nearly empty at one point , I felt like him from The Fast and the Furious Grin

pussycat that was Harry Enfield's "Stavros" Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 06/03/2020 22:00

Boots, I will definitely never go in a car driven by him again, that's for sure. I was terrified for some of the journey!

The toll road is nice, 70. It's a shame to not be able to go faster, I agree!

Southbound on the M6 was solid today when we were going north. Thankfully our side wasn't too bad.

It is a relief to have finished the course and I have a certificate which I am going to get one of our admin gurus to laminate for me next week when I eventually get back to the office. Different training next week thankfully.

That journey sounds horrendous Fluffy I am surprised you did not throw up.
