Done it. Ordered veg box plus turkey, ham, sausages, stuffing, etc from butcher. Bought Christmas pudding, all sorted.

rowrowrowyaboat · 19/12/2019 14:32

Monday morning, i actually cant wait! Lol

thismeansnothing · 19/12/2019 14:33

DH will be doing it on Sunday as normal.
Husband is working Xmas eve and I ain't tackling it with the 7yr old and 10 month old. No way

squashyhat · 19/12/2019 14:47

Done today. My local Sainsbos was busy but not manic - plenty of checkout staff and no children. Village greengrocers and fishmonger on Monday to pick up orders.

Stravapalava · 19/12/2019 14:48

My xmas shop is being delivered on saturday.

I did the drinks and snacks run yesterday.

I am now not going near a shop until the new year if I can help it. Anything forgotten can stay forgotten or DH can get it.

Lovemusic33 · 19/12/2019 15:01

Done mine online, being delivered Sunday evening. I hate going to supermarkets at Christmas.

Originalusernameunavailable · 19/12/2019 15:05

I was due to give birth any time now (luckily she’s arrived a week early) so I had already got the turkey and meat in the freezer, snacks and part baked bread already bought. So Monday morning my husband will be going to get the veg.
Otherwise we have enough chocolate and booze to sink a large ship so we won’t go without!

Strangerthingshere · 19/12/2019 15:08

Sunday atn7am before before it gets busy!

PoultryBallot · 19/12/2019 15:10

Monday 8am as it's when my local store opens. I usually do it xmas eve but have to work.

InMySpareTime · 19/12/2019 15:11

Sent DH and the DCs to do it yesterday.

BrieAndChilli · 19/12/2019 15:15

@Strangerthingshere what supermarket opens at 7 am on a sunday?

OP posts:
Mintjulia · 19/12/2019 15:23

Early Saturday morning

WeirdPookah · 19/12/2019 16:06

Tomorrow. Can't stand the thought of doing it next week! Got my list ready and going after school run.

Lordfrontpaw · 19/12/2019 16:07

I’m wondering if I need to get the turkey now. Well but of a Turkey as there are only 2 eating it.

I saw some crowns (with a leg??) on sale today with a sell by of the 26th. This seems a bit of a close call, didn’t it? I don’t have room in the freezer!

I am veggie and rarely cook large pieces of meat - I really don’t want to poison anyone.

Nanasueathome · 19/12/2019 16:09

Ocado are delivering mine on Monday 23rd evening

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 19/12/2019 16:10

@BrieAndChilli, they're possibly in Scotland which doesn't have any opening restrictions.

We're away for 3 nights from tomorrow so I'm popping to Tesco at about 6am on Christmas Eve en route to Booths to collect the last bits from there.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/12/2019 16:10

I've only got to shop for veg and then collect the order from the butcher on Monday

BrieAndChilli · 19/12/2019 16:17

I feel like Monday is leaving it late then???
Don’t want to brave it on Sunday with the masses, Saturday we are at longleat all day. Work tomorrow.
Oh well Monday first thing it is. Most things should still be in stock shouldn’t they???

edgewater · 19/12/2019 16:18

Tesco delivery Sunday.

Marks collection Tuesday.

Tonii1985 · 19/12/2019 16:20

I've ordered a sainsbury's delivery to come on Monday evening. I just need to update it this evening now I've been to Lidl today.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 19/12/2019 16:26

I don't really do a special shop. DH has already got the meat and I'll get everything else on Christmas eve.

PhantomErik · 19/12/2019 16:35

Doing mine tomorrow, will put the veg in the garage to stay cold & fresh. But will make up the cauliflower cheese & freeze it.

Vegetarian/vegan household so got a few quorn roasts in the freezer, along with sausage rolls & packs of nut roasts in the cupboard.

It'll be like our normal 'pay day' shop with a few extra treats.

BarbedBloom · 19/12/2019 16:38

Mine is coming on the 23rd. Hoping most will be there but am picking up the M&S order in the afternoon so can grab anything that doesn't come

Lordfrontpaw · 19/12/2019 17:54

Just spotted that wholefoods can take orders up to the 21st so that’s my fallback option. Although does £15.99 per kilo for turkey crown sound expensive?

Leflic · 19/12/2019 18:08

My DH spent ages choosing and placing a massive order from M&S. Only to find an email to say he had hadn’t placed it and did he want to? ....2 days after they stopped Christmas orders.

We are hosting but away, Luckily where we are going is a million times less busy than the SE ( if a bit basic) so we can shop. Just means less fancy ready made stuff and more from scratch.
