We've got a week to go! I feel like this is the point when some people are completely finished and putting their feet up in anticipation, others are on the final run, and others are just getting started.

We're not hosting this year so I haven't had too much to do, but still on my list is:

  • Pick up the last few chocolate things for stockings
  • Take in delivery of the final present (hopefully soon...)
  • All the wrapping
  • Bake Christmas cookies, and maybe mince pies if I can be bothered
  • Attend a couple of Christmas parties this weekend
  • Buy some wine and cheeses (our contribution to Christmas dinner)
  • Pack for travelling to visit family

What do you still have left to do? I find these lists helpful in case I've forgotten something...

The girl's dad found mincemeat for me while he took her shopping for my present so I can make more mince pies either later on or tomorrow Xmas Smile

Upstairs is mostly done, just the bathroom to be finished off in a mo. Will do downstairs tomorrow (but might not mop...it's forecasting rain & dd2 is off shopping with dad tomorrow so there'll end up wet footprints on my clean floors if it does rain Xmas Hmm.

Cake will be iced while we wait for takeaway shortly ish.

MargotsBumpyNight · 21/12/2019 16:15

Have the baby Xmas Grin

TrickyD · 21/12/2019 16:56

Not much left to do.

Some ecards to send and a few local ones to hand deliver.
Brandy butter for mince pies and Christmas pud.
Mackerel pâté for canapés before Christmas Dinner, other items ready made
Stuffing to make
Beds to make up for overnighting DGCs and DS2
Presents to buy for DS2’s GF, also his XP with whom we have a good relationship.
Tables to lay: conservatory Christmas Eve, dining room Christmas Day and all the decent cutlery and glasses found.
Presents to wrap
DH will do remaining food shop but will need reminding about obscure things he might forget that I want
He will cook Christmas dinner and he will clear up; he is a treasure.

Written down, there is more than I thought.

happytoday73 · 21/12/2019 17:04

Well I'm pretty organized this year but still have to do the Christmas food shop, bake biscuit to leave out for Santa & get little presents for the dog 😂 for the kids really as on both their lists to Santa they mentioned it's our rescue dogs first Christmas with us & could Santa please leave him a gift.
Of course clean the house 🏠 then I can sit with a glass of wine or baileys & enjoy Christmas 😂

Ok, I failed in my plans for today, but not terribly so.
We did decorate the tree.
It was too late to drop boxes to storage so tomorrow.
We also bought spiced beef. And flowers.
DH laid down the law about “too much food” so I will acquire cheese on Monday instead. (I have soft but no hard or blue).
Dd finished her shopping and wrapping - “thanks Mum”....
We had a nice dinner.

Tomorrow:
Decorate front door
Put up garland in hall
Put boxes back in Storage unit
Wrap things
Make flowers look pretty
Make cookies/mince pies
Make flavored butter (as it’s now nice and soft...)

Monday:
Clear under my desk
Buy DH present from me (eek!)
Buy turkey
Buy potatoes

Tuesday:
Work
Watch dd do charity swim
Prep veg

And find time to relax!!

BiddyPop · 21/12/2019 22:00

Actually, Monday includes quite a lot of work too - but as I’m driving I can shove a lot of things into my boot from quick trips around the office at coffee and lunch breaks

goose1964 · 21/12/2019 22:03

So we actually seem not too far behind but I have
Wrapping presents for those that will be staying with us at Christmas
Stollen to be done
2nd batch of mince pies
Veg to be bought
Fudge to be made
I think that's it.

IdblowJonSnow · 21/12/2019 22:07

Loads of wrapping! But that's it. DH in charge of all things food related thankfully. Main food shop was done today. Cleaning mainly done.
Santa tomo with kids, nails on monday, friends on xmas eve. Xmas Smile

everythingisginandroses · 21/12/2019 22:26

Ice the cake.
Make red cabbage.
Some cleaning.
Taking cat to the vet on Monday and depending on what vet says, we may come back without him Sad

SodTheMistletoeJustGiveMeWine · 21/12/2019 22:30

I need to unbreak my ankle so I can drive to pick up my Christmas food order, wrap presents comfortably and clean my manky house for all the visitors. DC can clean a bit and DH can manage the rest but wrapping and cooking for others are my favourite things and I'm really pissed off.

Wrap all of the presents
Finish making the last few gifts
Food shop
Massive clean up

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/12/2019 22:58

Finish wrapping.
Label the presents so people don't need to guess
Clean the house
various pet jobs
ice the cake
make mince pies

unfortunately life doesn't want to pause and seems to be making jobs of its own.

lucysmam · 22/12/2019 14:16

Big clean done (WHY do we do this!?).

Wrapping STILL to do because either one or other of the girls is always about

Christmas Tesco tomorrow morning...I'm soooo excited!!

ffswhatnext · 22/12/2019 14:18

Just the usual house crap that gets done anyway.

Deelish75 · 22/12/2019 17:33

Yesterday - my big shop delivery came. Wrapped all the presents (except one which is coming on Monday)
Today - DP cleaned house whilst DD and I went to pick up turkey.
Tomorrow evening - prep most of veg. Wrap final present.
Christmas Eve
In the morning DD and I will walk to big Tesco (about a mile away) to get final veg (sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower) and salad bits for Boxing Day.

After lunch we'll do some baking and probably watch a film.
In the evening go out to see the rotary club sleigh doing its rounds and then walk around my neighbourhood looking at the decorated houses. Buy a lottery ticket!

BiddyPop · 22/12/2019 20:01

Managed to catch up somewhat.
Bought a turkey (although DH didn’t come and is grumpy with what we got).
Also got the potatoes, milk, and a few treats.
Dropped all the decorations boxes back to storage unit.
Got a nice walk in lovely fresh and calm sunshine !!
Made my herby butters (garlic, thyme, rosemary and sage for turkey, no sage but clementine zest for carrots).
Did fridge Tetris so it all fits (until I get some party food tomorrow).
Hoovered.
Dyed my hair.

Left to do:
Buy DH present!!
Buy cheese and party food bits and cured meat for Xmas eve
Wrap presents
Prep veg etc Xmas eve after work
Make a chocolate biscuit cake for dd birthday (26th) by request (today!!)

Possible:
Make mince pies
Put up garland in hall
Buy Christmas craft beers for DH
Make/buy Christmas Day dessert

BiddyPop · 22/12/2019 20:02

Oh, and do full days’ work tomorrow and the morning on 24th - followed by racing to see dd do sponsored Xmas eve swim in the sea....
