What's still on your Christmas to-do list?

We've got a week to go! I feel like this is the point when some people are completely finished and putting their feet up in anticipation, others are on the final run, and others are just getting started.

We're not hosting this year so I haven't had too much to do, but still on my list is:

  • Pick up the last few chocolate things for stockings
  • Take in delivery of the final present (hopefully soon...)
  • All the wrapping
  • Bake Christmas cookies, and maybe mince pies if I can be bothered
  • Attend a couple of Christmas parties this weekend
  • Buy some wine and cheeses (our contribution to Christmas dinner)
  • Pack for travelling to visit family

What do you still have left to do? I find these lists helpful in case I've forgotten something...

Buy food, sort out spare room, do laundry (I'm going away on 27) make my bedroom resemble an adults one rather than student halls (clothes and presents everywhere, I have a guest coming Grin), negotiate with ex on dog care and his timings so he doesn't run into aforementioned guest (tricky)

write and send card to son at uni - we're seeing him Christmas eve so I hadn't written one, but his to us arrived today oops still at least it means he's got himself organised to do his cards

wrap husband's present panic that I've only got him a book and he's probably bought me a more expensive thing off my list oh but we're supposed to be economising

have haircut

decide what to eat on Saturday evening (probably either our traditional salmon en croute or some of the duck breasts in the freezer. I'm not cooking them so fine by me)

find something to put Grandad's present in

buy a Gift For Life for the sister whose husband doesn't join in the extended-family presents

wrap nephew's present that arrived today

pick up turkey and chocolate puddings and some pork pie, satsumas and chocolate coins for Christmas morning

pack

confirm Friday meet-up with siblings

remind self how to do make-up swear and curse and wish I was twenty-four again then decide that by this point the simple fact that I've Made An Effort is enough

sew annoying bit of dress so that bra strap isn't visible

mend the Bah Humbug santa hat

rehearse on Thursday and Carol Service on Sunday

check neighbours have picked up their parcels from our porch

-do the food shop between aldi and waitrose on Christmas eve.
-visit my h's gran for her 96th birthday. Think she'll outlive us all!
-collect the last few presents from Argos.

Relax and enjoy time off!

*Wrap last 2 presents tomorrow after DH has got one of them engraved (hopefully, this has been a nightmare to organise as new to the area and no trophy shop).
*Last big shop on Friday.
*Hopefully an empty day on Saturday, planning to watch The Box of Delights I ordered as a treat for self!
*Sunday family over for lunch.
*Monday make bed in spare room for DD#2 who is coming for the week.
*Christmas Eve make ham, trifle and Nigella muffins. And buy salad leaves!

Tonii1985 · 18/12/2019 22:15

Lots of wrapping
Update grocery delivery after I've been to Lidl tomorrow
Bake a gingerbread cake
Buy Toothbrushes for the stockings

Also a couple more festive days out. So looking forward to putting my feet up and just enjoying. Mine and kids last day tomorrow, then DH finishes on Friday - can't wait.

BiddyPop · 18/12/2019 22:24

Ok progress.
Cards posted.
Bag of presents for charity wrapped and in car to drop tomorrow.
Spare room relatively tidy (could be made guest ready in 15 minutes) and can see floor.
Pile of clothes on my chair folded and put away.
Load of laundry in for tomorrow’s wash.
Christmas crockery, tea towels etc out and cartons in boot of car ( to go back to storage)
Dining table cleared (mostly - can finish in 3 minutes but we’re still using computers for another few days)
House ready for cleaners (meat and tidy) - just need to get out clean sheets for our bed.

Still lots to do but less panicked.

Might get the tree up tomorrow.

Star2015 · 19/12/2019 07:12
