What are your must have items on your Christmas morning breakfast?

This all sounds so scrumptious

We normally have fry up but I don’t want to start cooking something and then travel to another house at lunchtime.
But we are having guests int he morning to ours so want to serve something delicious yet not too filling but that’s also a treat.

I’m tempted by the homemade mcmuffins but that involves cooking, and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs sounds divine.

I think we’ll do hot pastries with nice preserved and some fizz and fresh orange juice.
Some nice fresh berries on the side.
Hopefully there will also be plenty of chocolate to start digging into also

Pain au chocolate, cinnamon rolls and nice coffee

PhantomErik · 17/11/2019 17:30

Variety pack cereal
Pancakes with bananas & strawberries
Fresh juice
Coffee!

We keep breakfast simple, skip lunch & have a roast at about 4pm. Chocolate coins & nuts are allowed whenever :)

PsychosonicCindy · 17/11/2019 17:35

Scrambled egg and smoked salmon and bucks fizz

fireonfire · 17/11/2019 17:37

Chocolates.

MsSquiz · 17/11/2019 17:47

We usually have a cup of tea while opening presents, and then have some pastries (from M&S) fresh out of the oven with another cuppa or juice, and then a glass of champagne while getting ready to go round to SIL's for lunch.

This year I'm tempted to make some of the Nigella breakfast muffins ahead of time, and freeze them as they're something I could take into hospital with me if I am overdue with DD

WagtailRobin · 17/11/2019 17:52

I personally have chocolate, others in my family will have a cooked Irish fry-up or a bagel with bacon&cream cheese.

We have Christmas "dinner" usually around 3ish, so I tend to just snack on rubbish before then.

I love a drink but I feel shite if I drink in the morning.

duckling84 · 17/11/2019 18:27

Cup of tea and a selection box here.

Kissmyaxe · 17/11/2019 18:33

Coffee and Stollen

troppibambini · 17/11/2019 19:30

Bil has stayed over Xmas eve the last couple of years (along with others) he's vegan so I usually do a vegan sort of buffet.
Pan au chocolate
Cinnamon swirls
Croissants
(All bake in the oven)
Homage granola with yogurt and hot cranberry sauce/compote thing
Panatone (not vegan but me and my mum Italian)
Coffee, posh juices and champagne for those that want it.

didireallysaythat · 17/11/2019 19:37

@troppibambini

Could you share where you find vegan croissants? Or do you make them? (I'm not sure my skills extend that far)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/11/2019 19:45

Coffee
Orange Juice
Jus-Rol Cinnamin Buns
Croissants

DH likes scrambled eggs and toast

We have dinner after dark so plenty of time to digest (and drink more coffee)

IWillWearTheGreenWillow · 17/11/2019 19:57

BiddyPop, fresh oh? Grin
You may be onto something there...

Mummyilovejokes1 · 17/11/2019 20:34

We used to have bacon and croissants but it was too filling before lunch so last year we stuck to cereal (and a baileys coffee for me). Our table for lunch is booked at 12 so we don't have a huge amount of time in the morning to cook a big breakfast and let it go down in time for lunch.

If we were to stay home for lunch i imagine we would be happier to have it later and therefore would have a nice variety of pastries and a few cooked items (eggs, bacon) 😋😋

troppibambini · 17/11/2019 20:42

@didireallysaythat the jusroll pan au chocolate, cinnamon swirls and croissants are all vegan. They are the ones you bake yourself. I think most bake your own ones are vegan they tend to use oil rather than butter but obviously check them.

troppibambini · 17/11/2019 20:43

I wouldn't know where to start to make my own eitherGrin

Bowerbird5 · 17/11/2019 21:26

Vegan Jusroll if DD is here but she is going to be far away this yearSad
and I have either those or smoked salmon and lightly scrambled eggs.
Our other choice is homemade pancakes and maple syrup. I have bacon too which annoys DD. I put the turkey in and go to Mass and have a glass of fizz on return as I have to drive. We have tea, coffee and mince pies and shortbread after MassGrin then sit down about 2:30pm and turkey about 3pm but it depends on sons who sometimes have to work on Christmas Day. Then we have it when they are finished. This year we are going to DS1's because he is allergic to DDs cat.

MovinOnUp · 17/11/2019 22:26

Bake from frozen pain au raisin, croissants, cinnamon rolls, jams and marmalade.
Good coffee and fresh orange juice.
Chocolate.

caperplips · 18/11/2019 12:17

We have coffee and biscuits when we first wake up and check to see if Santa has been.

Then a full cooked breakfast at about 10.30am including champagne and fresh juice for Bucks Fizz

We have loads of coffee with this and usually some sweet treats after

Snacks in the late afternoon

Dinner at about 7pm - fully set table, 3 course meal and it takes all evening sitting and chatting and we all get dressed nicely for it. This year there will be 4 adults and 1 teen. We have wine with dinner. Baileys / gin / whiskey / port etc after if anyone fancies it.

I do all the cooking and usually have a glass of wine on the go as I'm cooking.

We have always eaten dinner in the evening and we love it as there is not as much time to be bored with tv etc that night.
