What are your must have items on your Christmas morning breakfast?

We never decide until we get up. Then it depends how we feel- it might be a fry up after Mass, or croissants, or whatever we decide at the time. I couldn't be doing with a Christmas where everything is planned down to the finest detail, so I just make sure the fridge is well stocked and we go from there.

Northernsoullover · 17/11/2019 13:18

I usually have a chocolate orange and the children selection boxes.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 17/11/2019 13:19

Buck's fizz for adults, juice for kids
Usually we have bagels with scrambled eggs and salmon.

AppleKatie · 17/11/2019 13:20

Buck’s Fizz and a pain au chocolate

It’s traditional 😂

AgeLikeWine · 17/11/2019 13:20

A super healthy kale and spinach smoothie, before a long run.

Only joking 🙃!

Pork pie and English mustard. Strong tea. Chocolate.

DooBop · 17/11/2019 13:20

Orange juice, champagne, croissants, scrambled eggs, fruit salad usually.

This year I’m doing Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and the DC have requested smoked salmon & cream cheese bagels for breakfast.

On actual Christmas Day we’ll have a big leftovers-ey brunch. No cooking all day Grin.

AdaColeman · 17/11/2019 13:24

madcatlady It takes years of practise! Grin Wine Grin

MeeceAndMice · 17/11/2019 13:30

I do a fruit platter.nothing fancy, but have some melon, grapes, pineapple, apple, strawberry, berries etc all out on the table so we can graze as we please through the morning. It just means there are healthy tasty things readily available to hopefully limit the amount of crap the kids eat before lunch

MrsLinManuelMiranda · 17/11/2019 13:35

My DPs were from South America, it was a traditional to have ' Garlic Pork' for breakfast on Christmas morning. This is a dish that originated in Portugal I believe. It is basically pork loins ( other cuts would do) marinated in vinegar with garlic and thyme done a few days before Christmas. This was served with bread and cheese and a glass of gin for the adults. When I was a vegetarian this was the dish a missed most- forget bacon sarnies or the actual turkey dinner. My DH and I try and make it now , but is never as good as my DF's was.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 17/11/2019 13:37

Bucks fizz with something not too filling, that we can eat whilst the DC are still opening presents like croissant or crumpets.

iklboo · 17/11/2019 13:39

Agree Ada - my Xmas morning coffee is at least half Bailey's Grin

notthemum · 17/11/2019 13:42

Burger press
@Serin. You can buy these in the pound shop £1. Or Asda for £3.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 17/11/2019 13:43

Proper pork pie and cold ham from the piece we always cook for Christmas Eve dinner. Lush. Best brekkie of the year.

Fishcakey · 17/11/2019 13:48

Croissants, Pain au Chocolate and Bucks Fizz.

Bickles · 17/11/2019 13:55

@VaggieMight you should have a look around an airport at 6am. Our local one is full of people drinking pints. I don’t think a glass of fizz at 10am on Christmas morning is that bad in comparison

onemorecakeplease · 17/11/2019 14:01

Bacon or sausage sandwich
Or croissants and nice jam

Then a late lunch

RaymondStopThat · 17/11/2019 14:02

Bucks fizz and chocolate here

headlock · 17/11/2019 14:06

Cooked breakfast at around 8.30 then nothing until Christmas dinner at 3 apart from a few Buck's Fizz. 😊

jay55 · 17/11/2019 14:14

Pate on toast and Buck's Fizz. It's like having the lunch starter first thing.

MotherHeggy · 17/11/2019 14:15

The same as the other mornings,a mug of hot chocolate or tea and some toast.

Trewser · 17/11/2019 14:27

I can't drink at breakfast time, makes me feel sick. I have to do the horses and walk the dogs, tidy up a bit, go and put some make up and a Christmas jumper on. Then sit down with a drink and we all do tree presents.

HelenaJustina · 17/11/2019 14:31

Coffee before Mass. DC get mini boxes of cereal in their stocking so they’ll have those. Frozen mini pastries from Waitrose.

Back from Mass, chocolate for being good and then wait for 1/1.30pm lunch.

elQuintoConyo · 17/11/2019 14:32

Gingerbreadman-shaped pancakes, made in our gingerbreadman-shaped frying pan. Son got it in his stocking 4 years ago. Fresh orange juice, fancy coffee.
Followed by Christmas gift chocolates, light lunch, slap-up meal around 6-7pm.

I. Cannot. Wait Grin

notso · 17/11/2019 14:36

Cinnamon buns, one of those Christmas tree shaped panettone and/or pig in blanket sandwiches.
Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and baileys.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 17/11/2019 14:38

Champagne
