Hairspray that sounds scary. Glad that he wasn't hurt.

Acey if you are near Letterkenny, I got a lot of my maternity clothes in the H&M there. They had a decent maternity section.

Mrs I love the drama at the dance Xmas Grin

Crazy I had something to reply to you, but I can't for the life of me remember. When I'm finished writing this I'll go back and check. My memory is atrocious at the minute and it was never that good to begin with.

I'm currently sitting in my driveway with a coffee from McDonald's. Dd fell asleep as we were driving and I dare not wake her up. It's actually really nice. I can't remember the last time I had a hot cup of tea and listened to the radio.

NerosFiddle · 23/11/2018 11:02

Crazy can I see a pic of your crochet? I'm trying to find a hobby for the winter nights. I was thinking that or cross stitching. I'm left handed though and find it hard to copy the videos on you tube.

AceyMac13 · 23/11/2018 11:04

Poor maverick, when will he learn that laying on me = getting kicked by Addie 😂

Seafood - it’s fantastic isn’t it Grin you are my hero for finding it because I never would have known otherwise! Grin

Wheelie - hope you had a fantastic thanksgiving!

Hairspray - i’m Glad your DH is okay, despite being understandably shaken. It’s lovely that you are spoiling him :)

Nero’s - it’s only about a 40-50 min drive max to Letterkenny, so think I’ll go there tomorrow. I’m loving H&M maternity t-shirts so hopefully I’ll find something there. Thanks for the recommendation and letting me know they have a good selection :)

Morning!

I'm wearing my bow Mrs! 😂

I had a ham and tomato omelette and a banana today. 😋

Looked at Christmassy things, bought a tub of Quality Street and one of Celebrations, because the DC can't agree, for Christmas. 🎄🎅🍫🍫Hmm🎄🎅

BiddyPop · 23/11/2018 12:35

Acey if you can't get delivery to RoI, set up a parcel motel account and it can be delivered to Armagh, they will bring it over the border and drop it in a parcel motel near you, I think it's about €3.95 per parcel. (Lots of electrics, electronics, haberdashery (strangely!), (all those from any sites) and things coming from China on Amazon/UK won't deliver here so I often have things going through parcel motel. If the company WILL deliver to ROI, there's a Dublin address as well, but they will still then drop to a motel near you to collect at your convenience). Sorry to hear your family weren't great, hope your Grandad is making up for it.

Fluffy sorry to hear your train was delayed. Your XStitch is looking great!! I'm loving seeing the picture emerging, and I wasn't expecting a second reindeer to appear!

MrsMad, I can see you, pulling and hauling on DM's tights, the way you write so vividly! I'm glad you got there in the end to hear all that gossip and drama!

Wheelchair I hope you had a good thanksgiving day yesterday.

Wreck there are plenty of reasons why there shouldn't be pets in houses with DCs and that is just one of them (ok maybe I just don't want the extra work of a pet - ask me again tomorrow after Cubs pet day...)

Firefly its a great idea to run down the freezers - and doing it for lunches is probably wise in case you get 1 portion of spag bol and 1 of chilli out the same day, which could be a bit strange mixed together! Xmas Grin

Our Thanksgiving Dinner went well last night. All 5 guests had their first ever TG, which was nice. DD went to Scouts in the middle (first session of new season, so mandatory attendance, and assignment of new patrols - but she did arrange a lift home in fairness so I got to have a glass of wine for cheese and dessert courses). They left just after midnight, and I got the dishwasher going and abandoned the kitchen. I managed to get it emptied and going again this morning before I left, so there is only 1 (ordinary dinner amount) set of washing up to do, and putting away the good plates. It should all be done before DH gets home - although he will see evidence of enough turkey for 1 sandwich in the fridge Xmas Grin. I did tell him he was going to miss TG though weeks ago when he booked this trip.

I need sleep though, which I think will be Sunday night. After this full on weekend, it starts to slow down, slightly at least - just as well as I have Christmas prep to get on with!! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 23/11/2018 12:44

And sorry to anyone I've missed, I need at least 2 more coffees before I'm fully functioning (and yes, I am in the office and having to get things done....) - ever so slightly hungover, only ever so slightly, it genuinely is more a lack of sleep......zzzzzzzz

NoWordForFluffy · 23/11/2018 13:01

Sounds like your dinner was a success, Biddy.

I should get plenty more done over the weekend, though I need to get to the allotment to finish the weeding and put my newly-arrived raspberry canes in the ground.

I also need to do more Christmas baking to spread it out a bit. I'll do my onion soup, Nigella muffins and something else. Maybe my chicken and chorizo parcels.

Too much to do! I need to finish jet washing the patio too at some point!

OP posts:
Seafoodeatit · 23/11/2018 13:16

biddy what's TG? Sounds like a lovely dinner :)

fluffy I love onion soup! I read your post as jet washing potatoes Grin it would make cleaning them a lot faster!

Who else is excited for stir up Sunday this week?

BiddyPop · 23/11/2018 14:27

Seafood TG is Thanksgiving. US traditional turkey dinner, involving beans and corn, and pumpkin pie (and yams? whatever they are) - when Pilgrims from the UK arrived and had no food left after the long voyage, native Americans came out of the forest and offered them corn and beans (that they grew) and a turkey (that they had killed - run wild there), so a tradition of having another dinner annually in thanksgiving for that lifesaving meal was born the following year in commemoration.

I only do a full turkey for Christmas - this is a midweek, after work, dinner so a breast of turkey, plain bread stuffing, some kind of roast potatoes, sweetcorn from a tin, French beans from the freezer (from a summer glut - I usually have a few bags frozen), maybe another veg that's easy and maybe a dessert that's from a shop. But it's nice, and can work well if a small amount of thinking and tiny amount of advance prep (including judicious shopping in M&S!) has been done.

BiddyPop · 23/11/2018 14:28

I'll be out sailing on Sunday - but I am thinking about a day off work soon so may make a cake then. My pudding is already in the spare bedroom wardrobe (cool and undisturbed spot) as DM made those before we went down recently Xmas Blush

BiddyPop · 23/11/2018 14:29

I've suddenly realized there are a fair few on here who are not in the UK but in Ireland!! Maybe we should arrange a meetup at the Green Santa in Mullingar (if that still happens) some time!

WheelchairWoes · 23/11/2018 14:33

Hi guys! Thanksgiving was great! Got another bit of lights set up today is the big day with all our decorations.

Unfortunately last night coming out of my house I somehow screwed up the wheel on my powerchair and it's making a horrible grating sound which is not so good especially since it was just maintenanced and is broken again :( It drives but sounds horrible

biddy Sounds like a GREAT TG! I'm so pleased for you.

fluff Those sound really good. This weekend starts my mom's candy making which is always a fun time to hang out at her house lol

acey Maverick will learn lol it probably just won't bother him lol!

seafood I'm sorry about the lost keys! We locked ourselves out of the house twice and got a third key made to put in a hollow rock outside haha

hairspray I'm so glad your DP is ok! I hope the cost isn't too crazy either

wreck sounds like my cats haha

I think I got caught up! So sorry if I missed anyone! Today aside from decorating I'm finishing the tree skirt I'm making for the aluminum tree

Oh! Here's my lights now

Wheel sorry about your chair. Your lights look lovely though.

Biddy according to google green Santa is still there Xmas Grin.
For anyone else who lives in Ireland this weekend is culchie Sunday in Dublin. Where those of us beyond the pale go to Dublin to do our Christmas shopping 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 23/11/2018 15:24

I don't do stir up Sunday as I don't make traditional cake or pudding. My pudding is already made anyway!

I'll possibly be making something, however.

Sorry about your chair, Wheels. Lovely lights though. Xmas Grin

AceyMac13 · 23/11/2018 18:31

Evening!

Tv people didn’t turn up said they would try and rearrange for next week. Aye that’s grand, why be predictable and turn up for the slot I booked in the first place haha.

Got my friend paddy who I saw last night coming over for dinner, he doesn’t really have any family so I like to have him over often, my house is everyone’s house haha :) he will be coming over Christmas Day too so that will be nice :)

Cooking hunters chicken, onion rings and wedges; can’t wait!

Addie has given me a right kicking today, wee princess long legs 😁😍

Will catch up in a wee while, don’t want to burn dinner, Jesus wept it would be WW3 😂

Hope you’re all well and having fabulous days!

Mrsmadevans · 23/11/2018 19:01

Evening all Xmas Grin
Had a busy day Xmas Grin , shopio for parents first, then showered Mum, dressed Dad, cooked lunch, sarnies for tea, hoovered and dusted downstairs, made the beds , tidied upstairs cleaned the bathroom Collected Mums tablets, washed and wiped up , shaved Dad , had a long talk to Social Services re getting some help for the parents outside of the family , ( in case of my being ill or snuffing it lol) and tbh l have thought if anything happens to me then they will need help so all in all the social worker is going to come and do a care assessment . Came home made a lovely Cauliflower cheese and bacon for tea, one of my faves Xmas Grin. I bought a ps4 game for DD1 on Amazon Tomb raider latest Hmm, have not really had time to see much else yet will have a good look in a min Xmas Grin.
Anyway that was my day now to see what you have been getting up to me dears Xmas Grin
Wheely l hope you chair is repaired very soon m'dear Flowers your lights are just lovely so welcoming Smile
RED !!! l love the cross stitch decorations they are gorgeous you clever, patient, well sighted, girl Xmas Grin puss cat helper is beautiful too Smile
Nero l love the sound of Culchie Sunday it sounds really community spirited Smile
Fluffy l don't do stir up Sunday in fact l have never heard about it before Xmas Blush
Biddy the dinner sounded a great success well done ! l didn't realise you were in Ireland, for some reason l thought you lived in the Isle of Wight , l think it is because of the sailing and l thought of Cowes note to self must switch brain on in future Xmas Grin where l got that from l do not know!! Xmas Hmm
Seafood... l want to do stir up Sunday now lol Xmas Grin see what you have started Xmas Grin hope you have found your keys now m'dear Smile
Hairspray l hope DP is alright sweetie Flowers you are a lovely girl to spoil him , he has himself a real Christmas cracker in you Smile
Crazy glad you finished early today you can recharge your batteries over the weekend Smile well done on the blanky too ,it is soul destroying and heavy on the arms when it is that big Smile
Nero , more shenanigans today , fallout from the dance gossip club, Keith phoned Mum today and was telling her about the row over the music , Dad is very jealous of Mum, any attention from men and he gets nasty , it doesn't help that Keith is now in full operation and raring to go after his prostrate operation being a roaring success Xmas Grin. He has also parted from his girlfriend Doris because of his jealousy re her family, so l swear Dad (88) thinks mum (86) is going to stagger off into the glitter ball lit ballroom, tights akimbo because they are too small not because of norties with Keith (82... toyboy !!) Xmas Grin Xmas Hmm
Honestly you could not make it up!!!Xmas Grin
Acey glad to hear you are relaxing today my dear you take it easy when you can Smile you have been through such a lot Flowers l love the name Letterkenny Xmas Grin
Fluffy 'onion soup, Nigella muffins and something else. Maybe my chicken and chorizo parcels' ohhh that sounds just fantastic ! Smile

Mrsmadevans · 23/11/2018 19:03

Acey enjoy your meal m'dear and tell Addie to stop kicking you lol Xmas Grin

PhilomenaButterfly · 23/11/2018 19:39

To all Welsh people on here: I have relatives, 2 boys aged 12 and 10 who are Welsh, I asked my aunt tonight if they ever use the word cwtch, she said she'd never heard them, but they swear fluently! 😂

PhilomenaButterfly · 23/11/2018 19:48

Picked DS2 up, DD had her maths booster and came home at 4.37, they must have finished early! No way she can do the walk in 7 minutes! Shock She's at my aunt's now for the weekend, had chilli for supper, DS2 was in bed by 6.45. 😋😴

Mrsmadevans · 23/11/2018 19:57

OSB are they North Walian m'dear only they are not like us South Walians lol , enjoy your quiet weekend without DD Smile

CrazyBaubles · 23/11/2018 19:57

Neros I've added some pics of things I have crocheted previously (they're all baby blankets). I don't have a pic of the monster blanket but I'll take one tomorrow.
I really enjoy it, I find it really relaxing but I have to be careful what I agree to make for people because having pressure takes the enjoyment away I've found (and my family ask for everything).

Wheels your lights are lovely. Sorry about your wheel though, that sucks.

PSB I've been practically sitting on my hands to stop me buying either Quality Street or Celebrations - we don't eat them but it doesn't feel right not buying them.

All welsh people should use the word cwtch. It is my favourite welsh word ever!
With swearing, I know it always amused children when they figured out the word moron means carrot and Coch (welsh for red) sounds a lot like cock 😂

Biddy Have you always celebrated Thanksgiving? I don't know anyone who does (except for 2 American friends).
You need to slow down, you do so much you put me to shame!

Redgreen love the cross stitch, they are so cute.

MrsMad I love your parents gossip club and all the drama. Much more interesting than the soaps imo Xmas Grin

I am definitely enjoying a relaxed evening. I currently have the dogs snoring on me so I couldn't get up and be productive if I wanted to!
