I didn't mind the birth, to be honest - meant the pregnancy would be over! I had to have an emcs, so I guess you could class that as being shit at birth, though Grin

I blame DS - his head was in the cup of my pelvis bone, if you get what I mean. He got lost and couldn't find the way out!

He came at dead on 38 weeks, and I was so over being pregnant!

FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 08/11/2018 23:22

I’ve had a C-section for all DC, I have a tilted cervix so I couldn’t dilate fully and was in labour for 2 days with Algy. Since then I’ve elected for one and they don’t bother me much so the actual birth isn’t much of a problem for me. I think that’s why I hate the end of pregnancy so much, because I know that I haven’t got a scary labour to go through. Hopefully everything goes to plan with this LO

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2018 23:24

Was he facial presentation? DD was, so every time I contracted she essentially head butted the pelvis. Not good!

She was EMCS and DS was a transverse unstable lie (sideways) and wouldn't go head down, so I had a week in hospital prior to having an ELCS with him! I am crap at getting babies into the right place to come out of their own accord!

Well this is a grand time to be awake; bloody heartburn gah! 😠

NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2018 06:41

46

I hope you got back to sleep, Acey. DS decided to wake at 6.15 so we are all awake in our bed. Joy.

I need a wee though, typically! Xmas Hmm

I've had two pre term inductions. First one ended in forceps (no epidural as not allowed) second one was really good. Much less rushed (but still quicker) and gradual. Had a nice build up like a natural labour. I could have done it all again straight after.

Work today. Boo.

AceyMac13 · 09/11/2018 07:25

Managed to fall back to sleep for an hour before Addie started having a party and going wild Grin ooo 6.15 lovely early start for you fluffy!

Morning!
Just having a gingerbread latte before getting ready. I have to carry on clearing my dads flat out, as they want the keys back next Friday. I also need to go back to the funeral and drop off the death certificate, clothes to be cremated in and a photo that will be blown up and go on top of the coffin.
One of my Brothers (well the only one who’s actually been helping) moved my dads car from dads flat, onto my driveway. It’s so strange seeing it there but also strangely comforting.

Seeing Addie yesterday has given me a new lease of life, and even more strength. She is everything to me Grin

I hope everyone has a grand day, I’ll be back on this evening Smile

Mrsmadevans · 09/11/2018 09:44

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/11/2018 09:55

Morning! Took mini chocolate cupcakes for the PTA cake sale to raise money for the Christmas fair, had to go to Sainsbury's quickly for toothpaste for DS2, he didn't tell me he was running low, he announced it was empty this morning! Hmm Having super scrambled egg and a banana, picking DD up at 12 for another CAMHS appointment. Cake😋🍌

AceyMac13 · 09/11/2018 09:56

Oh my god I can’t stop eating today it’s ridiculous 😂

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/11/2018 10:00

Little Addie might be taking all your food! DS2 took all my food, I lost weight everywhere except the bump, I was eating and drinking loads of cheese and milk, he just took it all! He was 9lb 12oz when he was born! When I see newborn babies now I say he was never that size! 😂

AceyMac13 · 09/11/2018 10:12

Philomena - she has a huge belly it’s at the far end of the scale thing, so I really wouldn’t be surprised if Addie is 😂 9lb12oz Jesus wept! you are wonderwoman 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 09/11/2018 10:13

DD was 9lb 7oz. I still put loads of weight on, but there you go! DS was 7lb 1oz, but 37 weeks and I didn't eat as much with him! 😂

Morning all,

Today is a busy day at work (I hate when too many projects have peaks all together....). Should be a quiet night at home, TG, as I have to pack for tomorrow yet. And then Cubs hiking/hostelling weekend, with a first aid course tacked on to Sunday (yay, I leave the other 3 leaders to do the tidy up in the hostel!! Wink In fairness, they do that readily, but sometimes it is tiresome being "the girl" and "the organizer" of things). I should get my felt stockings cut out down there tomorrow night though....I hope!

I started the last scarf on Wednesday while waiting for DD to appear out of school, I got chunky wool for it as it is so late, so it is getting long quickly. I may do one more as the other 2 on needles are both very slow to make up, I can repurpose 1 of those for DH, but I need 1 to go overseas at the end of this month and time is not on my side.

There are a lot of sales on just now - has anyone noticed that? I don't remember there being such sales and bargains last year. I think I am nearly sorted for DD (apart from getting a phone cover, and DH is getting her some headphones), and almost all other children (nieces, nephews, cousins). Need to figure out something for DMIL, and buy a couple of small bits to finish my DPs. And lots of DAunts and DUncles to go yet, I don't think my original plans of sewing various things is going to work out so I will have to go shopping.

Bought the wine for Christmas dinner yesterday. I need to sort DD's advent calendar yet. And I have no baking done but the freezer is completely full - we're trying to use up stuff this month and not getting very far.

Weather outside is ok at the moment, gentle breeze and while overcast, the clouds are high and it is still dry - but forecast is not good for later....I wore my long coat even though it's more formal (it's Friday so I'm wearing jeans...my own little act of rebellion for the past 10 years! I do still do formal wear if meeting external stakeholders, but if it's an internal with the Minister, it will be jeans - the previous Minister would often do jeans as well on Fridays if only internal - but he was local enough, whereas the current one is more rural so doesn't just "drop in" like that).

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/11/2018 10:22

I'll take it Acey, thanks! The community midwife came round and the first thing she said was "You're only little!" I said "I know!" My nether regions felt like they'd done 5 rounds with Mike Tyson!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/11/2018 11:00

Pokes nose onto thread and birthing stories

19 years ago I was waiting for my PFB, trying to plan Christmas from my chair (there wasn't T'Internet back then. Late night shopping on a Thursday was as good as it got!)

DS was 8lb8.5oz and 22" long when he eventually honoured us with his presence. All the Midwives said "Oh he's perfect" while I looked like I'd sat on rotating knives .
DS and I laugh about it now Xmas Hmm little git that he is Xmas Grin

FrangelicoCandyBoughs · 09/11/2018 12:59

Fluffy yep he was facial presentation. DH is over six’ and is very broad, I’m just over 5’ and really skinny, unfortunately all our boys have been big. They were only 8lbs and the twins were 7lbs but due to me being so tiny I look huge!. DH was 9lbs 10oz at birth so I’ve always been scared we’d have a big baby. This LO is measuring quite small which makes me think it might be a girl

CrazyBaubles · 09/11/2018 13:45

Acey you seem to be doing so well. Glad your scan went well and your dads car is bringing you comfort.

Work for me too

Biddy are you going anywhere interesting at the end of the month?
I still think your life sounds busy and glamorous!

I'm awed at some of these birth stories. The human body is amazing isn't it?

In a much better mood today. I woke up feeling festive and have spent my lunch hour crocheting and having a look at what the Book People have on offer. I bought this lovely set which I will split between a few of the children I buy for.
I'm keeping the 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' for me though because I've always wanted a copy and the illustrations are beautiful

BiddyPop · 09/11/2018 15:20

Crazy unless you count a Def Leopard gig (DH got me tickets for my birthday!!), nope. Just the freezer was very very (too!) full and needs serious emptying out before we can start thinking about "Christmas Fridge/Freezer".

Rain and wind have now hit hard....I had to get dry socks when I got back from lunch, and my shoes are currently on top of the radiator trying to dry out....

FurForksSake · 09/11/2018 15:28

Running in and out again, I am so sorry for the sadness, glad people are on the mend and big hugs to all.

I've just bought the bits to put presents together for our four sisters. Christmas plate, lip balm, can of cocktail, cool pen, christmas dec and I'll make some fudge/florentines/soap and then wrap it all in a christmas tea towel and tie it with ribbon or a christmas scarf.

I am having trouble this year as we are trying to have a low-crap christmas. Trying not to buy things we don't need or single use or things for the sake of it, feeling a bit despondent about it all. It can be such a wasteful season but I want it to be fun and carefree :(

WreckTangled · 09/11/2018 15:59

They called and cancelled our Lapland trip due to lack of snow 😭😭😭😭😭 we've rearranged it for December but have lost of airport hotel and parking and I have to change travel insurance. ££££££ oh and book new hotel at different airport and more airport parking

AceyMac13 · 09/11/2018 15:59

Phew I am home! Feet up with a cup of coffee!
Dads flat is now completely cleared apart from the big stuff. Got a man and van booked for Wednesday to move it all to my house, it’s going to be so nice having his furniture here. Smile

I’ve been to the funeral parlour, sorted everything out and dropped the clothes off. The funeral is going to be 21st November at 1pm so that’s all sorted. He’s being cremated at the same place my mum was, so that’s nice for them to be together. Smile

Addie is currently kicking away Grin

Firefly - it won’t be long until I can fill that last frame Grin

Mrs - I am not doing too bad at all thank you my lovely. Addie is keeping me going and giving me the strength to push onGrin I hope your parents don’t give you too much of a hard time today!

Philomena - you’re definitely Wonder Woman! I’m hoping Addie won’t be that big else I’ll have to keep my legs crossed Grin😂

Crazy - I’m doing good, just keep moving forward and getting things done. Got to paint Addie’s nursery soon! I hope work goes well for you. Smile

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, it’s not intentional Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/11/2018 16:11

Wreck

Does your insurance cover you for any of your losses?

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/11/2018 16:13

There was supposed to be a shocked face with that post. Stupid missing emojis.

😮

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/11/2018 16:17

70 I told DS2 when he was 4 that when he was born he gave me friction burns where no woman should have friction burns, he said "Sorry Mummy!" 😂💓💓💓💓💓
