Thought I'd start a thread, so anyone planning on buying it can post any offers they see. I'm holding out for Amazon Black Friday as they had it on offer last year.

I'm in two minds still, if I should get it for dd11. She is completely obsessed with Pokemon, particularly Eevee. She has a Nintendo 2DSXL already. I did tell her it was too expensive and maybe if I found an offer I could get it but she'd get nothing else, or I could get her a few 2DS games and other presents, and she chose the second option. I wouldn't really just get her the one present though. I'm thinking of getting it anyway, and a few other smaller presents. I could ask family to buy her the 2DS games she wants. It's just so expensive, compared to presents I usually buy... my budget is usually around £200-250 for main presents and £70 on stocking.

Just got amazon early Black Friday deal £299 for switch plus 2 games- think that seems pretty good?

buckeejit · 14/11/2018 12:11

@IMissGin - that is vg but the just dance game might not be for everyone. Think my 5yo would like it though

Bumbumtaloo · 14/11/2018 18:50

Sorry it’s a rubbish pic, these are the deals I can see on Amazon.

They are good deals aren't they.

Bumbumtaloo · 15/11/2018 10:05

Tesco have these vouchers as well, not such a good deal but still a deal Grin

I’m a bit of an idiot about tech stuff - have got the DC one for Christmas (thanks for the link to the Amazon deal!). Should I do anything before Christmas Day or let them set it up themselves? I am still scarred by years of Playmobil (‘want to play it NOW, Mummy!’).

calpop · 15/11/2018 20:44

You will need to do a system update etc first time and charge it up so you could do that beforehand but it didnt take v long.

MnerXX · 16/11/2018 10:03

We are back on the switch trail. DS had decided he didn't want one and wanted some paymobile etc instead. Then he has been banging on about a switch ever since. Jeez! We have extra funds though as the GPs are going to go halves.

HauntedPencil · 16/11/2018 13:25

I set it up first, it was easy & didn't take long but the parental controls but was quite fiddly & involved downloading app & registering

I wanted to get that done though before he was set loose!

It's really good actually you can see what's been played, how long set limits etc

MnerXX · 16/11/2018 14:40

I have bought the amazon bundle with the two games.

HauntedPencil · 16/11/2018 14:47

That's a really good offer I think, I don't think you'd get anything much better.

HauntedPencil · 16/11/2018 14:47

If anyone is after FIFA it was down to £29 on Amazon this morning

Gizlotsmum · 16/11/2018 14:52

I got the amazon deal. I went with Mario Kart and just Dance as those were the games I would have ordered anyway. Now just need to get to the door first tomorrow 🙀

ineedsomeinspiration · 16/11/2018 14:52

I got one from Tescos last week for £289 with a game (Mario Kart) which I thought was pretty reasonable. There were other games you could choose from. I also got the Labo variety kit for £40 as DS helpfully has a birthday the week before christmas. I think the offer is obnly in store though. You had to pick up a little card thing and take it to the till.

Gizlotsmum · 16/11/2018 15:01

Ooh good tip about the labo..,

Murinae · 17/11/2018 01:30

I just played around with he amazon glitch deals and got the switch, Pokemon go game and mario cart 8 for £309. Will
Send it back if it’s cheaper on Black Friday! I did manage to play around so long that I got the switch alone in my basket for £237.12 but I wanted the games too

Murinae · 17/11/2018 01:32

The glitch is described on hotdeals. Basically you put all three £299 deals in your basket and go to final check out screen and then delete some of them.
It’s fiddly and takes a while but works.

rubyslipper1 · 17/11/2018 01:36

Bought it last year for son .He barley uses it,much prefers xbox or using my phone for roblox. Think it really depends what games they like as not all are available on switch.

Girlsnightin · 17/11/2018 09:42

I bought ours last year using the Very 3 payment credit option to soften the blow. They usually do 20% new customers if you take up the credit option. They may have wised up and added consoles to the ever growing list of restrictions.
Using the credit option did feel weird, but it was simple, and didn't cost any extra.

Hohocabbage · 17/11/2018 16:14

@tigertrig my 6 year old has a ps4, he plays lego games eg ninjago, superheroes, star wars. I think an adult would prefer a ps4, and its probably cheaper than a switch.
(Just to throw in another perspective)

DinosaurFarmer · 18/11/2018 11:16

Grrr after dithering around for 2 days about that Amazon deal with Mario/Just Dance and whether it would go cheaper, finally decided to go for it and both options sold out 😥

mollysmammy · 18/11/2018 12:24

My Daughter has a cheap second hand DS, my Grandad gave her a Kindle kids (even I can't work out how to use that...!) I had given her my old Wii, she's used each about a dozen times (I've since given the Wii to my Mum). I'm not a huge fan of 'screen time'), but each to their own. I think they're more likely to want one if it's something their friends have. My Daughter is more into her classes, ballet, street dance, gymnastics and horse riding so has asked for horsey gear plus Sylvanians. Perhaps get her a second hand one? When I was with my ex we had a Xbox which my 7 year old step daughter loved, but we mainly played multiplayer games or the dance ones. In all fairness I was obsessed with Pokemon back in the day at that age (I had a game boy colour - yes it was that long ago!) I had no idea games consoles were so expensive these days Shock

Fantasisa · 19/11/2018 16:31

I'm thinking of getting all my three DC this bundle as a joint present: store.nintendo.co.uk/nintendo-switch-console/nintendo-switch-mega-mario-pack/11910624.html

What I can't work out is if buying the bundle actually saves me any money, can anyone who knows the Switch enlighten me please? Thank you!

OrianaBanana · 19/11/2018 19:48

Console alone is on Amazon for about £250 now
