Thought I'd start a thread, so anyone planning on buying it can post any offers they see. I'm holding out for Amazon Black Friday as they had it on offer last year.

I'm in two minds still, if I should get it for dd11. She is completely obsessed with Pokemon, particularly Eevee. She has a Nintendo 2DSXL already. I did tell her it was too expensive and maybe if I found an offer I could get it but she'd get nothing else, or I could get her a few 2DS games and other presents, and she chose the second option. I wouldn't really just get her the one present though. I'm thinking of getting it anyway, and a few other smaller presents. I could ask family to buy her the 2DS games she wants. It's just so expensive, compared to presents I usually buy... my budget is usually around £200-250 for main presents and £70 on stocking.

I've done it a couple of times, you can pay what you like when

driggle · 06/11/2018 10:09

Thanks @HELENSCRESCENT Smile

Bought the Mario games bundle and with the deal it'll be £309. I was going to hold off until Black Friday but I really don't think there's going to be much better than £50 off.

Alakazam8 · 06/11/2018 10:28

Just bought mine via Very. I went for the console alone as the games I want weren’t included. Didn’t want to risk waiting until Black Friday.Looking at buying just dance and a Lego game initially plus mine craft and others that involve getting up and moving around!

HauntedPencil · 06/11/2018 11:15

I can't see the Black Friday being that much better either.

HauntedPencil · 06/11/2018 11:59

I've ordered it again with Zelda and Odyssey for £309 which is £15 for each game, that seemed pretty good. I did the Very deal.

HauntedPencil · 06/11/2018 12:03

I'm not sure how it going to keep from having a go myself for so long.

Do you think it's important to test it to make sure it's working

Bumbumtaloo · 06/11/2018 13:38

HauntedPencil we got ours back in the summer I’m desperate to have a go at MarioKart. My DH did check it was all working though.

buckeejit · 06/11/2018 13:53

Ooh @HauntedPencil I like that. I want Zelda but not sure what else thought heard some sort of Mario action is good

OhFlipMama · 06/11/2018 13:59

We have one and to be honest, I like it more than I'd anticipated. There are games the whole family can join in with, it's not just a solitary, 1 player console. A bit like an updated Wii.

NotSoThinLizzy · 06/11/2018 14:15

We have a switch and it's great also there's that new Pokemon game coming out for it soon 😊 I'd get it her

slappinthebass · 06/11/2018 14:49

@NotSoThinLizzy do you mean Let's go Pikachu/Eevee, or is there another one coming out?

Mario Odyssey has really good reviews, it looks ace!

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2018 16:44

My daughter tells me that there is another Pokemon game coming out next year and they will no longer be making Pokemon games for the DS (all new games will be on the switch), not sure how true this is but dd is usually pretty clued up on what’s going on in the pokemon world.

Bumbumtaloo · 06/11/2018 16:49

Smyths Black Friday deals have started

NotSoThinLizzy · 06/11/2018 17:57

Yes it did mean let's go ones. Couldn't remember the names. Have you seen you can trade with the a switch and your phone for Pokemon.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2018 18:20

Just had this arrive from Tom's deals.

Nintendo Switch
Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2018 18:41

NoWord is this ‘Toby’s deals’? their reviews are pretty rubbish, lots of things don’t turn up and some are imports Sad, a shame as it’s a good price, I was tempted until I read reviews.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2018 18:46

No, Tom's Deals. It's an email. You buy from Zavvi who are fine. I've bought from them before.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2018 18:47

Here's a link to Switch on Zavvi.

I saw Currys are selling bundles for £299.99 while finding the Zavvi link.

Lovemusic33 · 06/11/2018 19:11

Thank you NoWord I think I will buy it and then get dd’s Dad to buy her the Pokemon game separately, works out slightly cheaper than buying the bundle.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2018 19:12

No problem!

Don't forget to see if there's Quidco or Top Cashback cash back too.

Holidayshopping · 06/11/2018 19:22

They are so expensive! I remember buying DS Lites for my older two and thought they were steep at £100 odd! They do look good though. Has the price come down at all?

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 06/11/2018 19:49

Marking a place!

HauntedPencil · 06/11/2018 20:31

From what I've read they are so popular the consoles are unlikely to be reduced loads but you may get good deals including games and accessories

They are pricier than a DS but I guess technically they are consoles so in the same bracket as PS/Xbox

calpop · 06/11/2018 20:35

Thr switch is a console in the same legaie as PS4 and Xbox. Its also a hamdheld so makes the DSs redundant really.
