Thought I'd start a thread, so anyone planning on buying it can post any offers they see. I'm holding out for Amazon Black Friday as they had it on offer last year.

I'm in two minds still, if I should get it for dd11. She is completely obsessed with Pokemon, particularly Eevee. She has a Nintendo 2DSXL already. I did tell her it was too expensive and maybe if I found an offer I could get it but she'd get nothing else, or I could get her a few 2DS games and other presents, and she chose the second option. I wouldn't really just get her the one present though. I'm thinking of getting it anyway, and a few other smaller presents. I could ask family to buy her the 2DS games she wants. It's just so expensive, compared to presents I usually buy... my budget is usually around £200-250 for main presents and £70 on stocking.

Thanks. We shall have to be vigilant. Although we still aren't sure if DS is definitely getting one...

Lovemusic33 · 02/11/2018 13:08

Black Friday seems to start on the Monday before here in the uk but the best deals being on the Friday (suposidly) the following Monday is Cyber Monday, so you need to keep an eye out a week before. My advice would be is you see a good deal grab it, don’t hang around until the Friday as you might not get a better deal come up on the Friday, there might not be any deals on the switch at all but I suspect a couple of the big sellers will do a deal, look out for deals on Amazon and Game.

Shops included in Black Friday (predicted) include Argos, Game, Amazon and PC world, so I am guessing there will be some game console bargains.

MnerXX · 02/11/2018 14:02

That is really helpful. Thank you!

ALemonyPea · 02/11/2018 17:26

LoveMusic, the new Pokemon game is out 16 November. They'll probably bring out a package around then. There is a limited edition console if you have the money. DS2 would like one, but he already has a switch so that's a hell no from me.

ALemonyPea · 02/11/2018 17:29

Includes the Pokeball for £340. Saves around £25/30 buying separately.

Lovemusic33 · 02/11/2018 20:21

Ale the game that comes out in November is linked to the Pokemon go game, apparently there is another game coming out next year? She would like the Pokemon go game bit is more interested in the game that's being released next year. I will wait and see if the Pokemon bundle is on offer for black Friday as she would like the Pokemon edition switch bit I don't want to pay more than £300

buckeejit · 02/11/2018 21:09

Sainsbury's have it for £280 which seems to be standard. So I can potentially get £50 off with doubling up nectar points or possibly£100 but that seems unlikely & I'd have to forgo my free wine! Research night tonight. I don't know if Black Friday will have a good deal or not....

ALemonyPea · 02/11/2018 21:15

Ah ok, gotcha. My DS2 has obviously missed that one off his long list of games he'd like. Let's not mention it.

HELENSCRESCENT · 05/11/2018 12:27

£279 on very and until 8th november you can get £50 back if you buy now pay later so works out at £229. Just console no games included.

buckeejit · 05/11/2018 13:10

The that's a pretty good offer but I'd rather have so,etching that pays it all as I hate buying into future admin. Also would like a bundle deal so there's at least one game to play over Christmas. Do they ever do Zelda as the bundle deal?

ALemonyPea · 05/11/2018 14:32

Buck, if you use the buy now pay in 12 months, if you pay before the 12 months are over, you pay no interest. So effectively
, you could buy it now, get the money off and then pay it off when your next statement is processed.

buckeejit · 05/11/2018 14:39

oh worth considering then - thank you!

HauntedPencil · 05/11/2018 14:41

Oooo that's much better than the deal I got from them last week. I went too soon 😭

Twinklz · 05/11/2018 14:44

Is it worth it for a 6-7 year old?

HotInWinter · 05/11/2018 14:44

Does anyone think the switch will be so popular it sells out before 22 Dec? It's what the kids have asked for, but I'd like a UK on (global price is pretty static) and don't get to the UK before then......

Lovemusic33 · 05/11/2018 14:57

I think there’s a small chance it will sell out or at least be hard to get hold of nearer Christmas. I’m holding out until Black Friday but as dd wants the Pokemon bundle I don’t think I’m going to get a good deal (but will kick myself if I buy it and then the price drops).

Sharonkh76 · 05/11/2018 15:00

My 7 year old has the kids amazon fire and the switch. He spends more time playing on the kids unlimited games on the Fire.

slappinthebass · 05/11/2018 15:04

I'm having second thoughts on getting one, just don't think I'll be able to scrape enough cash together in time for a Black Friday deal. That leaves getting a buy now pay later somewhere, and I've never done that before and it overwhelms me trying to figure it out. I was wondering, would it not be cheaper/safer to get an interest free credit card than store credit? Because those can be interest free for a year rather than 3 months. I started researching and applying but then got overwhelmed with the application process. I've heard warnings about having to pay extra to pay something off early and things like that and it all confuses me too much.

slap I bought both the dd’s A 3ds last year using the Agros card, they do 0% over 3,6 or 12 months (if spending a certain amount). I think Argos are likely to have a deal around Black Friday. I use the Argos card for emergencies (just had to buy a bed with it) and always pay it off before the 0% runs out.

slappinthebass · 05/11/2018 16:32

@Lovemusic33 With Argos do you choose how much you pay off as and when, or is it a set amount automatically?

OP posts:
Lovemusic33 · 05/11/2018 16:40

Yes slap you can pay what ever you want whenever you want whilst in the 0%, so you could pay a bit each month or you could pay nothing until just before your 0% off and then pay in full. As long as you pay it off in the time it’s on 0% because their interest rate after is really high. I bought my bed using the card as I couldn’t afford to buy a new bed and pay for Christmas, I will start paying it off after Christmas and I have it in a 6 month 0%.

BlueNeighbourhood · 05/11/2018 18:52

I’ve found this bundle on eBay which includes Zelda for £309.99, which technically makes the game £40. A small saving is better than none!

HauntedPencil · 05/11/2018 20:39

The buy now pay later is fine, I think you could just pay it all off whenever you like.

I'm wondering if I can be bothered to try & order it again for another £18 off 😂

slappinthebass · 05/11/2018 21:56

Ok I think I'll do the buy now pay later thing then, sounds good. DH just always freaks when I suggest anything like that as he was in debt for years and just finally paid it all off when I met him. I'm completely confident I can afford to pay it off though, just struggling now because it's another DC's birthday Christmas week, I've booked a weekend away for that and another is having an expensive main too.
