Thought I'd start a thread, so anyone planning on buying it can post any offers they see. I'm holding out for Amazon Black Friday as they had it on offer last year.

I'm in two minds still, if I should get it for dd11. She is completely obsessed with Pokemon, particularly Eevee. She has a Nintendo 2DSXL already. I did tell her it was too expensive and maybe if I found an offer I could get it but she'd get nothing else, or I could get her a few 2DS games and other presents, and she chose the second option. I wouldn't really just get her the one present though. I'm thinking of getting it anyway, and a few other smaller presents. I could ask family to buy her the 2DS games she wants. It's just so expensive, compared to presents I usually buy... my budget is usually around £200-250 for main presents and £70 on stocking.

We have never done Pokemon but have friends who do (for their son but they're more bothered than he is!)

Don't know if we should get the pokeball bundle thing or just skip it & get other games. I've decided to spend my nectar points on wine rather than switch so hoping for good deals but also reluctant in case all the deals peak early!

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 07/11/2018 08:01

Sorry if someone has said but with the very bnpl deal can you pay what you want when you want?

With the £50 cash back you’re getting console plus 2 games for £309, but I don’t want the debt hanging around for a year!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 08:11

Yes, you can buy it, wait for the discount to be applied, then pay it off. Or, in the alternative, buy it, pay it all bar the cash back, then once it's applied it'll be paid.

HauntedPencil · 07/11/2018 12:25

I haven't had confirmation about the £50 off as yet.

ALemonyPea · 07/11/2018 14:15

Costco ha w them in for £215 at the minute if anyone has a membership.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2018 17:54

@HauntedPencil, do you mean since ordering? You won't get one, it'll just get knocked off your account in the timeframe given in the offer conditions.

Imustbemad00 · 07/11/2018 18:48

£215 is very good. Can’t see that online though.

incywincybitofa · 07/11/2018 19:35

@alemonypea is that the pre vat price? When I went in last week the price with VAT for console only was£269 so if your price doesn't include VAT that is a £10 drop
Costco online prices are often different to warehouse prices so it may be an in warehouse offer only I may have a look tomorrow

ALemonyPea · 07/11/2018 21:42

That the after VAT price. Was on Hot Deals UK.

Costco online is always more expensive.

HauntedPencil · 07/11/2018 22:53

They've sent me a confirmation email now.

I've been fiddling with it today!

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 08/11/2018 08:01

I’ve gone for the very deal with mario kart and the Pokemon game. £310 with the cash back, can’t see getting a better price than that..

Andthenshesmiles · 08/11/2018 14:46

Is there a saving to be done with Sainsbury's double up next week ? Sainsbury's seem to have switch in stock ?

FinallyFree123456789 · 08/11/2018 14:55

Jumping on this one! Was thinking of buying one for my 7yr old dd - we have a PlayStation 4 already only a year old ... will this one now become a dust collector or do children still use both?

Holidayshopping · 08/11/2018 15:06

Could Tesco Clubcard’s vouchers be used for this?! Do they do any sort of
Boost?

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 12/11/2018 09:46

Amazon have this deal for £299. It has the option of Pikachu or evee

Nintendo Switch
buckeejit · 12/11/2018 09:59

@Andthenshesmiles yes afaik - you could get up to £200 off if you have enough nectar points. I'm having a bath & then heading to sainsburys - was going to spend my £200 on wine but wobbling now!

trixymalixy · 12/11/2018 11:21

I wish i'd seen this earlier and got the Very deal.

What are the thoughts on the Amazon deal or should I wait for Black Friday?

HauntedPencil · 12/11/2018 11:37

I've got the Sainsbury's vouchers and they have switches in £309 with one game

buckeejit · 12/11/2018 12:35

@HauntedPencil - I've just been to Sainsburys & spent £100 of vouchers on wine but can do another £100 tomorrow, though our store isn't advertising the £309 deal which would be super! I also had a £9 off spend of £60+ & used that, then got a £10.50 off a £70+ shop! So could potentially get switch & game for under £200 of real money (& triple nectar points too!)

Tigertrig · 12/11/2018 12:44

I'm undecided between the switch and ps4. Although DD is only 6, I think DH will want to play on one himself. His ps3 died years ago and so want to surprise them both. Totally unsure which one to pick, any help would be appreciated!

Wormwoodm · 12/11/2018 12:58

I think it depends what kind of games they would both want to play. My son has an Xbox which he loves to play ark, minecraft, Fortnite etc on but we used to have a really old wii, we got rid of it as was very old but the kids often ask to play Pokemon or Mario games so have got a switch for all of them to share this year for those. Also for the handheld option.

calpop · 12/11/2018 13:40

I think a switch will be best for a Dad and 6y old to play. The PS4 is really suited to older gamers, 10/11/12. Nintendo have far more age appropriate games for 6/7/8 year olds.

Tigertrig · 12/11/2018 15:52

Thank you both. Switch it is then.

ALemonyPea · 12/11/2018 20:17

Amazing Amazon deal. £299 for console, just dance and another game, either Mario party, a Pokemon go or another Mario game. Think that'll be the best one you'll. get tbh.

buckeejit · 14/11/2018 09:28

Just reporting in that went to Sainsbury's this morn to buy a switch & game (although no deal at my store I had £10.50 off & triple points so a decent deal). I talked the reluctant assistant into giving me 2 * £50 vouchers after showing screenshot of T&Cs and had one £50 voucher from yesterday, however at the till it would only accept £100 of vouchers in one transaction which came off the switch. So used my other voucher to get the game and a couple of bottles of wine
