I believe it's day 190

HOW did we get past the 200 mark so fast? And only 12 Days until Christmas in July starts, for anyone who celebrates that.

So had a look at some traditions and think we’re going to be doing these this year.
Drive around to look at the lights on Christmas Eve,
Get a Christmas mug for the entire month,
Matching pyjamas for the kids and the pyjama eleves book,
An ornament for each family member that commemorates something that happened to us this year.

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 15:58

Thank you Buddy!

AnyFarrahFowler · 08/08/2018 15:59

Thank you BiddyPop - I love the Mumsnet Christmas board! Grin

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 18:46

Have just got in after a walk to the beach, it went quite well having all four boys out with us for the first time. Giving everyone a bath later, and Fred’s first proper bath. Then we’re having late tea and watching a film. Wishing the summer was over now and it was acceptable for us to pop on a Christmas film!.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/08/2018 18:48

Wicker, it's always acceptable to watch a Christmas film if you want to!

I'm glad the walk went well.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 08/08/2018 19:02

Dropped DS2 off at Adventure, picked him up at 5, had pulled pork burritos for supper, he'll go to bed at 7.30. 😋😴

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 19:02

I think we might put one on Fluffy, finally convinced DH who used to be a bit of a Scrooge but can’t be because he’s married to me!.

Thank you, it went a lot better than we expecting so we are very happy!.

flapjackfairy · 08/08/2018 19:11

I have the ward dvd player at my bedside at the moment
I searched for a Christmas film last night but drew a blank so I .had to make do with Goodnight Mr Tom instead which made a v acceptable substitute I must say .

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 19:13

Goodnight Mr Tom is one of my favourite films! I absolutely love it.

Redgreencoverplant · 08/08/2018 19:18

I haven't watched it since they decided it was a good choice for us to watch after our year six meningitis jabs and I came into the school hall to the cupboard scene and the whole school sobbing. They should perhaps have chosen something uplifting.

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 19:31

It is a really sad film, I just can’t help but love it

Mrsmadevans · 08/08/2018 20:31

Hello. I’ve been lurking on this thread as I really do love Christmas so I thought it was about time I said ‘hi’. Biddy Pop that list of Christmas activities is fab!

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 20:41

Thank you Mrs, it was really lovely and Hi always!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 08/08/2018 20:47

The pulled pork burritos really are yummy, and I think anything wrapped in a tortilla is DC-friendly Mrs! 😋

Welcome Any and Always! 😆

Rattling along nicely now! And almost time for a new thread too.

Hi to Any and Always, welcome!

August always seems to increase traffic on this part of MN. I love seeing plans and excitement build up.

Looks to be nice today. I got rather wet yesterday as it rained on my lunchtime walk. It started as I was at the furthest point from work. Fail! 🙈😂 Saved us having to water the allotment though, which is something.

The weekend forecast isn't great though. Never mind!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 09/08/2018 06:51

Morning! DS2's on his tablet in bed, I'm in bed drinking coffee. Brew

WickerHippo · 09/08/2018 09:37

Morning ladies. Couldn’t sleep last night so packed the bags for the kids and we had breakfast on the beach. We’re back home and they’re watching tv now whilst I feel Fred. Trying to come up with some plans for today before we all get bored and irritable

WickerHippo · 09/08/2018 09:41

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 09/08/2018 15:45

Had creamy peppercorn chicken with sautéed potatoes for lunch, dropped DS2 off at a very damp Adventure, so he'll be on the Nintendo Switch all afternoon. Hmm

Redgreencoverplant · 09/08/2018 18:20

So I set up a Facebook event for a Christmas get together for all our friends and so far 10 people are coming with more potentials! Buffet ideas please ladies!!!!! Any effort saving tips also much appreciated. Have never catered for that many before.

NoWordForFluffy · 09/08/2018 18:44

M&S party platters. Sorted!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 09/08/2018 18:51

Picked DS2 up, had Kashmiri chicken korma for supper, he'll go to bed at 7.30. 😋🍗😴

Redgreencoverplant · 09/08/2018 19:00

Ah yes how could I forget M&S fluffy?! When do we start badgering them for the catalogue?!

NoWordForFluffy · 09/08/2018 20:18

I think I was badgering them in September last year!

They do food to order all year though, so you should find stuff there too (what date is the shindig?).
