Hairspray I went to Rome last year in April and it was glorious - t-shirt weather during the day and a light cardi in the evening. I would go back in April like a shot.

I'm off to Norway this year for my "ends in a zero" 50 birthday. Just me and DH and from the looks of the travel blogs I'll need to take everything from summer dresses to thermals Hmm

WreckTangled · 01/02/2018 21:04

We went to Barcelona for my 30th. Was lovely. I would love to go to Italy.

HairsprayBabe · 02/02/2018 07:19

3 days in Naples 4 days in Rome, my parents went a few years ago and they both said they would go back in a heart beat! I think it is one of those places that there is always more to see and eat πŸ˜‚

Sounds lovely, Hairspray! I've been to Milan. It was full of people who badger you into trying to buy stuff near the touristy bits. I detest being badgered! It's a stunning country though.

Sooooo glad it's Friday today! I usually do 30 minutes on the cross trainer in the morning, but didn't bother today as I've been so tired this week (maybe the after effects of giving blood?). I'll go on tomorrow instead where I wouldn't usually at the weekend. I cleaned the bathroom instead, which saves me a job tomorrow. Rock'n'roll lifestyle here! πŸ˜‚

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2018 07:39

Beat me, Mrs, as I was being chatty! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 07:54

I am off to Aldi's first thing to do NDN shopping, then to mums this morning to do the cleaning and give her pressies and cards she is 86 today! I hope to get a walk in sometime this afternoon too! We shall see! I have to shift my fat bum first and get up lol!
Hope all ok today have a great Friday , weekend looming yay!!
Oh yes ....I forgot to welcome Nero and congratulations on your Baby Girl just wonderful !

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 07:57

Fluffy I was wondering where you were! Thought I had better get it done LOL my excuse and I am sticking to it mwahahahaha Have a good day Fluffy . Yes I think the blood donation could be the reason for the tiredness my dear but you are just amazing for doing it , take it easy .

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2018 08:06

Happy birthday to your mum, Mrs!

And yes, welcome Nero. Congrats on your new baby!

My sister has a 19/12 birthday and DH 23/12. Christmas birthdays a-go-go round here!

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 08:41

Ahh thank you Fluffy , have bought her a pr of trousers ,a top, some more Thorntons toffee hopefully it won't dislodge any more teeth lol, her fave perfume 'the last waltz ' aka Cool waters in scrawly writing lol, 2 boxes of luxury museli don't ask and a book The Clever Guts Diet she has IBS and complains bitterly about it
So lets hope she enjoys it , Dad bought her a new Amazon tablet with Alexa speaking and she loves it . Even telling Alexa off lol! It's like dealing with another child!!!

HairsprayBabe · 02/02/2018 08:54

oh and fluffy I don't know when I start my new job, originally they said the end of Jan so I got everything in place but now HR are being difficult, they want me to have an OH assessment before they will sign me off as "fit for work" due to my dyslexia/dyspraxia and they can't fit me in until next Thursday, then they have to write a report and see if I need any "reasonable adjustments".

I think the whole thing is very illegal as if I didn't have the learning difficulty then I would be in post next week so they are delaying my employment. Fortunately my current boss has agreed that I can extend my notice as many times as needed because I cannot afford to be out of work for any time at all really. But I would be surprised if I start at my new place before the end of Feb at this rate.....

Shocking when they said they wanted me in before the end of Jan!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2018 12:47

That's awful. At least you can stay on where you are. How to make a poor impression though!

BiddyPop · 02/02/2018 13:10

MrsMad - the small Alexa in our room does odd things (like asking me suddenly at 2am "how many people want to play the music game?" - when I am all alone and asleep!), but last night it couldn't find the podcast we wanted and then not the radio station we wanted so DH said "Alexa you are annoying me" and she answered "thank you for letting me know"! Grin Then she managed to find the radio station but it was a rubbish comedy, so we found the podcast on the iPad instead and turned Alexa off.

This week has been productive at work, but not on Scouts matters (Group Leader took my docs for Saturday afternoon as I was in a rush, and I still haven't got them back but need them before tomorrow!!), or my other Committee matters (I started the minutes of last week's meeting but DD needed a lot of interaction instead at CoderDoJo so that got halted after "there were no matters arising on the minutes of the last meeting"!). But I have managed a good (well, reasonable) bit of crafting - I've added about 3' to the current scarf on the commute, I got a few more rows done on the lap blanket last night (maybe 4"?), and some cross-stitch as well another night.

My overall aim this year is 14 scarves (DH, all my DSibs and their DPs/DHs/DWs, and DHSibs and their DH/DW). Hopefully a few cross-stich tree ornaments for the DParents and DMIL. I may finally finish that blanket, and it will probably go to DH's DUncle. And if the scarves don't kill my knitting fingers, I will aim for cotton facecloths (with a nice soap each) for my DUncles/DAunts etc (at least 10 and possibly a few more rather than generic boxes of chocs). And a couple of dollie blankets (already cut out), tote bags and pyjamas to sew and beanie hats to knit for various DCs around the place (DD, and various nieces and nephews and more extended family/friends small people). I also have some felt tree decorations cut out, and hearts to stuff with lavender (and material to make more of both) so that may also get added to my list of things if I get bored.

What am I saying - I can't get all that done this year!! (I've already re-allocated the black cotton wool I had for a few years to make a lacy shrug for me to use on 2 scarves for male DSibs/DPs who have professional jobs and need smart styles rather than robust thick ribbed ones).

WreckTangled · 02/02/2018 13:51

Woolly I got he cards thanks so much!

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/02/2018 14:27

Brilliant! Did they survive the journey unscathed?

WreckTangled · 02/02/2018 14:30

Yes they did! Need to put them away before the dc see and think they can start writing them....

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 17:28

Hairspray you must be so frustrated with them .....GRRRRR!
Good luck getting it sorted out my dear.
Biddy ......just WOW! I don't know how you do it sweetie!
My mum is getting on very well with Alexa she likes the tablet very much. It is excellent for her as she finds it hard to type, although the predictive text is a great help too. I would recommend Alexa to anyone even with her random 2am alarm calls lol.
Have been so busy but managed everything on my to do list, mum very happy with her pressies and cards. She had loads of flowers Flowers and cards and pressies we always have a cake Cake and sing Happy Birthday to her . She had a great day . Have put a pic up of her blowing her candles out, I am the one holding it but hidden from sight didn't want to scare you all lol Xmas GrinXmas Grin
Hope all ok and planning a great weekend .

Come one come all. It’s countdown to Christmas 2018!
ChristmasAddict · 02/02/2018 17:44

I have been so useless at keeping up I must try harder! We have an Alexa, she is mostly used by DS to play 'You're Welcome' Grin

Happy Friday everyone, any plans for the weekend? DS turns 2 on Sunday which is just crazy.

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 18:25

We are going to watch the rugby all weekend of course Ceebs lol!
As if I had any choice lol! Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 02/02/2018 19:48

No real plans. I need to jet wash the front path after doing the back last week. I need DH to do another course of bricks on the veg patch retaining wall. I also need to paint the fence as it’s very scruffy. We’ve also got some crystal cat repellant as they keep shitting under the buddleia and on the veg patch and it’s bloody annoying!

Oh, and as it’s February, I need to chop the buddleia down to 12 inches from the ground. Busy outside then!

WreckTangled · 02/02/2018 19:55

Ffs fluffy. We always used to get cat poo along our garden and it stinks in the summer. We solved it by getting our own cat Grin

Come one come all. It’s countdown to Christmas 2018!
Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 19:58

WOW!
Fluffy you are going to be busy!
I just prompted Hubbs re the Buddleia ( off the back of your post ) and he isn't having any of it . So looks like it's Rugby all weekend meh and the Buddleia will have to stay overgrown lol , I failed to lead him up the garden path lol Xmas GrinXmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 19:59

Wreck .....what a beauty !

Mrsmadevans · 02/02/2018 20:06

Our 2 at this precise moment lol
Bless they have worked like dogs today ! GrinGrin

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/02/2018 20:21

I keep trying to persuade DH that we need a cat again to stop the neighbourhood cats shitting on our lawn. He's not having any of it as DD2 has developed a fur allergy since our last cat died. I'm biding my time until DD2 and DH leaves home.

I'm going to see our new house again tomorrow afternoon. Apparently it's nearly ready. We still haven't exchanged contracts though so I'm a bit wary of falling even more in love with it in case it all goes tits up.
