Just got back from Tesco. Spent about £150!!

It was a bloody nightmare!

This is for 4 of us.

OP posts:
Kenworthington · 22/12/2017 14:21

Just done mine. £310 BlushShock half of it was drinks. I bloody need one now so I can face packing it all away

Kenworthington · 22/12/2017 14:21

Oh. And mines for 7 (5 adults and 2 teenagers)

Pibplob · 22/12/2017 14:23

£150 for 4 of us (6 on xmas eve). Hoping it will pretty much last two weeks tho except for bread, milk and fruit.

Shadowboy · 22/12/2017 14:25

We did £60 in Aldi for the boring bits then went to Waitrose and did the booze, puddings etc etc and spent £112 but had a £22 voucher if I spent £110+ so it actually cost £90. We raise and kill our own free range turkeys though.

glow1984 · 22/12/2017 14:29

What the hell are people buying. I just added some extra bits to our normal weekly shop, and altogether it was £140. I estimate £50 of it was Xmas only. And that’s for 5 adults and a toddler.

We don’t really drink and a couple of us aren’t big eaters /have dietary restrictions, so maybe that’s why.

Kraggle · 22/12/2017 14:30

My Asda shop was just over £100 but at least £20 of that was foody Christmas presents for others and my Morrisons order is £60.

jimmyjammyjumbo · 22/12/2017 14:31

Just been to Tesco and spent £240 but that doesn’t include the turkey, veg or ham (there is beef (half price) and pork though for the weekend and NYD) I will go again tomorrow but have Tesco clubcard voucher so hopefully won’t cost anything. Also spent around £30 in M&S and Waitrose.
For 4 adults and 2 kids.

idontlikealdi · 22/12/2017 14:31

I dread to think - we are going away for a few days and taking everything with us. 7 people around £550 inc booze. Prob more.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 22/12/2017 14:33

What on earth are you all buying?

I haven’t done mine yet but I expect it’ll be somewhere near £150 ish.

bec3105 · 22/12/2017 14:34

£20 more than my normal weekly shop. Really don't see the need to spend a fortune and then be in debt because of a glorified roast dinner.

ItsChristmoose · 22/12/2017 14:34

Tesco shop £185, butcher £55, m&s £100, and we don't have much alcohol in all that yet!

SnowFairyDust · 22/12/2017 14:35

£130 but we are out for all festive meals!

ItsChristmoose · 22/12/2017 14:35

I'm hosting for 8 adults though so of course it's going to be a lot more than for our usual two. And importantly, it won't put us in debt. I could do it on a shoestring if I had to.

TantrumsNSprouts · 22/12/2017 14:35

4 of us.

£400 and that doesn't include all the booze - although that is for 24th-28th, not just Christmas Day.

I did balk at that price. But its only once a year and we like to eat well.

Frouby · 22/12/2017 14:36

Spent £80 in aldi, £120 in M and S. And will be about £15 for my turkey crown.

I was a bit underwhelmed by M and S this year. Very expensive and not very Wow. I only went because I had a £75 voucher. Wish now I had just got basic stuff in there and spent more in Aldi.

But it should last 4 of us right through to new year. And there is plenty of nice bits. And the fridge and cupboards were bare as we have just come back from holiday.

Next year I am just doing Aldi tho. Everything looks as nice as M and S and was a lot cheaper. A naice trifle was £12 in M and S and looked as tho it had been frozen. Was £3.79 in aldi I think 🤔

Alyssonjane · 22/12/2017 14:36

Spent £80 in Aldi and £30 in Tesco for 4 of us. Went to both yesterday. Got a turkey crown for £9.99 in Aldi, parsnips, sprouts and a cauliflower for 29p each in Tesco. Fridge and freezer full. Got Ballycastle cream liqueur to put in Tassimo, Tassimo pods 3 fog £10 in Tesco.

mrsreynolds · 22/12/2017 14:36

£120 for 4
That includes stuff for hosting boxing day
Not big drinkers though so not much booze

danTDM · 22/12/2017 14:36

Just done mine for Christmas and the following week. About 10 days basically. I agree it is just a few extra thinks really.

Normally it's 80 euros and this weeks was 109 euros. Includes everything for cleaning/washing boring stuff/staples.

I can't buy anything pre prepared here though, I have to make it all from scratch Hmm so no mince pies/Christmas pud etc
If you let me loose in M^S this would be a very different tale! I'd probably spend double easily.

NecklessMumster · 22/12/2017 14:37

I'm going later, aaaargh! Going to use my nectar points so hoping to knock £100 off.

MrsPatmore · 22/12/2017 14:38

6 adults, one child - two days of goodies. Spent £47 in Marks and £75 in Sainsburys. However had a gift card for £40 to use at Marks and had £32 of Nectar points so roughly £50 cash spent. Can't believe the price of smoked salmon though - £10 for a few slices!

revelsandrose · 22/12/2017 14:38

£200 for 2 adults, 2 kids and a baby. That will last a week and it's not including alcohol or Christmas dinner as we are eating out.

And that was keeping to a budget. Could easily have spent another £100!

FurryDogMother · 22/12/2017 14:41

2 adults on Christmas day, 4 on Boxing Day - Tesco delivery order comes to £143, including several bottles of spirits and wine, a goose and a chicken, plus veg and all the peripheral stuff like prawns and satsumas.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 22/12/2017 14:42

Just short of GBP500. But it is DDs birthday on 27th so it includes effectively two ‘Christmas’ style full day meals, puddings etc. Also includes all of the wine and I’m giving four family members champagne for Christmas (a bit of a lazy easy choice I spose) , so all in all sounds a lot but not too bad considering everything I’ve packed in there.

FucksakeCuntingFuckingTwats · 22/12/2017 14:44

170 for five of us but that had last nights and tonight's dinner, Xmas eve buffet, breakfast stuff for tomorrow, Xmas day and boxing day, snacks like mince pies etc, Xmas dinner, 3bottles prosecco, 2 rose, 3 packs desperados, box of strongbow dark fruits, 2 bottles bucks fizz and a bottle sambucca.

onemouseplace · 22/12/2017 14:44

Butchers and bits and pieces picked up already - £180

Booze (bought when on offer) - £85

Shop being delivered this afternoon - another £200

We are hosting though.
