I've written a list. Turkey ordered to collect on sat. Do you think if I buy the veg Fri it will last until Xmas day in the cold garage? Just the usual potatoes, parsnips, sprouts etc.

I've completely forgotten to order stuffing so I hope I can get some or christmas will be ruined😊

ConorMcGregorsChin · 21/12/2017 08:20

I'm moving into a new house on Christmas Eve but luckily I'm in walking distance of Sainsbury's so, erm, sometime in between unpacking I'll dash over and get whatever I can Xmas Grin

fleshmarketclose · 21/12/2017 08:47

Veg box came today, will pick up butcher's order Christmas Eve, have all the stuff in for baking will nip out for milk, cream, fruit etc Friday. Have chocolates and biscuits etc here already. Don't tend to buy too much extra the shops are only closed for two days max so can always top up then anyway.

ARichVernacular · 21/12/2017 08:48

Smile your veg will be fine.

wendz86 · 21/12/2017 11:42

Went in Tesco this morning and was really quiet . Was only getting Calpol though .

SmileAndNod · 21/12/2017 11:59

I'm braving shops tomorrow then thank you.

Whatslovegottodo · 21/12/2017 12:03

Tomorrow evening.

AgnesBrownsCat · 21/12/2017 12:03

Collecting turkey crown from butchers on Saturday. Need to pop to Lidl for their baileys and pear cider . Will do most of shop in m and s on Saturday evening most likely

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 21/12/2017 12:41

Sainsbury's failed to deliver the cider I ordered today, so DH has been to collect it from the store already so I know we have it.

We got all of the veg etc, however, so that's something!

NewUser24 · 21/12/2017 13:22

I used to work in a supermarket. Best time to go is normally between 2 and 3 am. Shelves have been freshly stocked less people to. And no need to go on Sunday if u are worrying about the freshness of ur turkey. All the supermarkets should have all of their turkeys already in x

Crunchymum · 21/12/2017 13:25

Delivery from Sainsbury's 9am-10am on Saturday.

Debating whether I go out and get turkey on its own (can grab that tomorrow) or add it to main food shop? Not done a big food shop before Xmas before as we're usually away so have no idea of I'm going to end up with nothing?

abcdemma · 21/12/2017 13:28

Sainsbury's delivery Friday evening so still got time to get anything they can't send. We're at my parents this year so it's mostly booze and nibbles anyway Grin

ARichVernacular · 21/12/2017 13:40

Just had the veg box delivered - two red cabbages to add to the one I forgetfully picked up in Waitrose yesterday Xmas Confused Anyone need any red cabbage?

NewUser24 · 21/12/2017 13:43

@ARichVernacular

Pickle the cabbage and save it for another time or Blanche and freeze it

Kaykee · 21/12/2017 13:48

Best thing about working Christmas
Got my secret Santa, and cheeseboard to take to work need butter to take and that’s it. Always go bonkers in supermarket then can’t get out of the carpark here so glad to be avoiding it this year

Hippadippadation · 21/12/2017 17:42

Did the food stuff yesterday. Going to ALDI once the kids are in bed tonight for the alcohol.

YellowMakesMeSmile · 21/12/2017 17:46

Fetched cupboard food today, food delivery due tonight and I will pop to the local farm for veg on Saturday

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2017 20:32

Ok, changed my mind on a early sat morning shop, the cupboards are empty, the kids are moaning that they are hungry so tomorrow morning I am getting up early and hitting Tesco.

KrisCringleWinterWonderland · 21/12/2017 21:27

Delivery came this evening, just before I had to leave for work, so I didn't notice the meat hadn't been delivered. Argh. They should be back tomorrow night.

ItsNachoCheese · 21/12/2017 22:45

Im at my parents for xmas day so i dont need to worry about a big xmas food shop. I need my messages though so ill stick some christmassy nibbles in for ds and i to have over the holidays depending where i brave (tesco and then lidl most likely for their chocolate muffins alone id shop there forever

Dolceandgabbana14 · 21/12/2017 23:21

Went to Also tonight. Parked in space outside the door, had a good look at all the Christmassy stuff without anyone getting in my way, got most of what was on my list and the cashier had to wait while I loaded my shopping into the conveyor belt as there was nobody in front of me. Came home and cleaned my fridge out completely before I put it all away as well. Feel like I'm winning, but I'm sure there'll be something to throw a spanner in the works!

My only disappointment was that I discovered when I got home that the jewelled British ham joint that I bought is made from reformed ham... is that still going to be ok for my DF, who tends to buy his ready cooked joint of breaded ham from M&S for about three times the price? Hmm

CambozolaDreams · 22/12/2017 01:12

Been stockpiling cupboard stuff bit by bit this week.
Micaso delivery Friday evening including neat.
DH getting booze and any last minute bits on Saturday.

CambozolaDreams · 22/12/2017 01:13

Misaso = Ocado! Grin

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 22/12/2017 06:38

millimat · 22/12/2017 08:30
