Just that really, which day are you going to brave it on?

I can’t imagine having a humongous turkey in my fridge for more than a day

We don’t have turkey! Having venison Wellington so a smallish fillet. We’ve got 2 fridges and 2 freezers anyway.

mimi14 · 20/12/2017 19:11

We got a frozen turkey crown, fits nicely in the deep drawer of the freezer. For me, it's not a case of storing it all, it's about keeping DH and the kids away from it 🙈

fairgame84 · 20/12/2017 19:25

I was going to go at 8am Friday but had to pop to Sainsburys today so got it all this evening.
Turkey crown has use by of 27th and stuffing/pigs in blankets combi pack use by 26th.
Everything else is frozen or veg.

ARichVernacular · 20/12/2017 21:47

My dad is bringing the turkey so no need for us to have one knocking about. Although I do now have a pork shelf in my fridge Grin

MycatsaPirate · 20/12/2017 21:59

We went to Asda at 5pm today and it was surprisingly quiet! Got everything we needed but forgot the bloody prawns. We will survive without them though.

Spoke to a woman whose mum had been to another Asda at 8am the previous day in the next town and apparently a fight had broken out over something or other. Place was rammed.

Seems teatime is the best time to go!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/12/2017 22:15

I hadn't even considered the fact that saturday would be very busy. oops Xmas Confused

Fffion · 20/12/2017 22:19

I always get my Christmas Day and Boxing Day Food in the morning of Christmas Eve, and it has always worked out. There are plenty of turkeys!

I tend to shop daily so this should not be a big change to my normal system. The main difference this year is Sunday opening hours.

phoenix1973 · 20/12/2017 23:09

We did it this evening back at 9pm.

longtompot · 20/12/2017 23:11

I spoke to DH after reading that most of the country were doing their shop tomorrow, and we decided to do ours this eve instead. Just done our main shop and only forgot a few things! I call that a success Grin

Glumglowworm · 20/12/2017 23:24

I’ve got asda delivering on Saturday morning, if anything important is missing from it I have several local shops plus a Tesco all within walking distance, but I’d prefer not to venture to Tesco at that point!

Babababababybel23 · 20/12/2017 23:27

Don't get paid until Friday and I'm busy all day so God help me it will have to be Saturday Sad

teddyneedsawash · 20/12/2017 23:44

We've just moved house today... had forgotten about shopping and still haven't finished present shopping (it's been a complicated overseas move into a grandparents' house so lots of pre-moving-sorting needed). Over the last 2 weeks we've also had accident and resulting operation, very sick dog, man flu, grandma falling over, car break downs, removals people losing screws for bunkbeds, parental attendance at nativity requirements and child with severe earache twice. Plan to hit lots of shops tomorrow before more unpacking and hopefully getting a tree up...

Juanbablo · 21/12/2017 06:06

We did a big shop last night (Wednesday). The veg will be fine in the fridge. On any other week we would still be eating veg bought on a Wednesday on the Monday so I don't see the problem there. If anything looks suspicious then I can replace it on Friday. We bought all the drinks too. We had already got pigs in blankets, yorkies, stuffing and sauces. Just need to pick up my meat and puddings on Friday.

MrsPringles · 21/12/2017 06:27

Today.

My elbows are ready for shoving my way to the pigs in blankets.

Alliaskforisthis · 21/12/2017 06:31

Online to be delivered Saturday, pre order from butcher collect on Christmas Eve and the fishmonger at some point over the weekend. Might need to top up the booze run we did last weekend, as I've been slowly drinking it ...... Blush

defineme · 21/12/2017 06:39

I have to go Saturday. Will it really be that bad?

speakout · 21/12/2017 06:46

I am always up early- so probably christmas eve at 7am.

Whizziwig · 21/12/2017 06:57

I'm picking up the turkey from the farm shop on Saturday and doing the main supermarket shop about 9pm tonight. I've done it at that time the past couple of years and it's always been really quiet.

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/12/2017 07:07

Are you in Scotland speakout?

speakout · 21/12/2017 07:23

Yes

Foxjar · 21/12/2017 07:25

Done it< preens>

ShoeJunkie · 21/12/2017 07:27

Picking up my click and collect order this afternoon. Then I've time to get any last bits tomorrow.

pinotgrigio1 · 21/12/2017 07:29

Delivery Saturday for the majority, collecting M&S bits Sunday morning.

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/12/2017 07:29

Oh good. I have a fear for those who normally go early on Christmas Eve and are not in Scotland who forget that the big supermarkets don't open until 10 or 11 am (well they will probably open an hour early but you can't go through the tills until the appointed time - there will be a lot of people waiting with very big trolleys by then).

They'll turn up at the shop at 6/7/8 am to find it in darkness. Which is why I'm going between 6 and 7 am on Saturday.

Oblomov17 · 21/12/2017 08:04

Sainsbury delivery Friday morning. Was all I could get. Dates on Saturday had already been taken.
