Haud could you share what big items you've bought for your 7yo DD please?

I find it easy to chose small items for mine but I don't know what to buy her for her main presents. She also turns 7 in December so I need a few ideas. She has a bike, tablet etc.

Tattybogle89 · 21/09/2017 08:54

yumyumpoppycat · 21/09/2017 09:12

The things I mentioned are things my 10 year old would like, My younger dd is turning 7 and wants all the toys , but she actually likes younger toys - our generation dolls, Barbies, 'girlie stuff'

TalkingOrmer · 21/09/2017 09:14

Thanks Yum

I'm quite surprised we've got to thread 5 without someone moaning that the threads are full of pointless chatter and we should just have the bargains nothing else

Or that the thread is ripping off HUKD

Wink
yumyumpoppycat · 21/09/2017 09:18

Oh god yes it has kicked off a few times. A lovely helpful poster left once a couple of years ago didn't they. Actually I thing HUKD ripped off the fire engine from here!? HUKD are filled with stuff I am not interested in (memory cards, sim only deals) and takes ages to scroll through so always really grateful to have a nudge from here.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 21/09/2017 09:22

Yes I think they did Yum unfortunately.

There's always one idiot that has to have a whinge about it...then they don't shut up about it! Personally I love the constant stream of chatter!

I'm over HUKD! By the time you've traveled through all the crap, the deal you want is finished!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 21/09/2017 09:22

traveled Trawled!

Hi all, feeling like I need to join in as I've got Christmas, both Kids birthdays, OH birthday, and nephew birthday all very soon. And I haven't done any shopping, eek!
Big presents are sorted for DC1 - pedal bike and 2 wheel scooter for Bday and Xmas.

Can anyone help me with ideas for a 2 year old girl please? She will inherit her balance bike and micro scooter from dc1 as well as all the other grown out of toys so I'm a bit stuck for ideas. I need main presents and stocking fillers plus grandparents are asking what to get. I want to buy stuff that will actually be used and avoid random plastic tat (mostly from my Dad!!) that will just clutter the place and break instantly.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/09/2017 09:28

Yes HUKD makes me panic buy and I don't like the new layout either! Much more civilised on here! Having said that I did get my nespresso lattisimo last year at a totally bargainous price thanks to HUKD and that has been one of my best ever buys, probably saves me money as actually stops my going to coffee shops as much.

Allhallowseve · 21/09/2017 09:35

Superdrug have some good offers loads of half price and buy one get one free on skincare.
They are also giving away a free carmex lipkit with any 3 skincare products
free carmex lip kit

yumyumpoppycat · 21/09/2017 09:37

Oooh wyam you have come to the right place! If I see anything will link. For me my fave thing when mine were that age is playing at 'cafes' so toy cakes, a till etc, play doh, toy market stall, toy kitchen, dressing up and possibilities to really add to it for a couple of years.

boredofmyoldname · 21/09/2017 09:38

I lasted 8 days, caved in and just got a Fire engine on my way home from nursery drop off... Good news is though, technically, DH can't moan because my Gran is giving me the money for it so I didn't buy more stuff :o

Aworldofmyown · 21/09/2017 09:42

why could Grandparents buy her a token gift i.e. little book (if they really must buy an openable gift) and give her money or vouchers for something like swimming lessons or an annual pass somewhere?

Lat year we pooled grandparents and aunties cash to buy a 2 year Zoo pass for me (under 3's don't have to pay) we have many a lovely day at the zoo now!!!

MummysMaison · 21/09/2017 09:46

Thanks Wine

yumyumpoppycat · 21/09/2017 09:46

Oops just saw you were hoping to avoid random tat why! Things that can form part of a collection are good though is there anything she is inheriting you could add to - duplo for instance.

fraggle84 · 21/09/2017 09:47

Has anyone seen any deals on scooters?

Haudyerwheesht · 21/09/2017 09:48

Thanks for all the suggestions for ds - a Lego drone sounds amazing redken thanks HerRoyal too.

Talking
Smiggle rucksack, pencil case, water bottle and random bits
Moana singing doll
Barbie dolphin boat
Barbie ultimate puppy mobile
Barbie wedding set
Barbie animal centre
Designafriend dolls

So none of them are massive in terms of price but she'll love them. If your dd isn't into dolls then I won't be much help!! She's only just started to actually play alone - I don't know why - so I'm trying to encourage it with the dolls because that's what she plays with most. I'm just grateful she finally plays alone - it's been a long almost 7 years!!!!! Hmm

drspouse · 21/09/2017 09:58

Whyam we hid DS old balance bike until DD's birthday and brought it out as her present. She was just as pleased as if it was new (we'd coached DS into not saying "THAT'S MINE" beforehand which helped).

I have realised we have no ideas for DS birthday which is shortly after Christmas, I think relatives may be asked to pay for activities/contribute to his new bed, he tends not to get huge birthday presents but he doesn't mind as long as there's something to unwrap. May hand this one over to DH...

drspouse · 21/09/2017 09:58

(You could always wrap the old bike up in cheap paper/put some bows on it to make it more present-y - we didn't).

FoofFighter · 21/09/2017 09:59

Badders08 · 21/09/2017 10:07

Tip for wrapping odd shaped or very large things....xmas pudding design bin bags 👍😁
Worked really well last year for the dc new bean bags

Blizy · 21/09/2017 10:10

why my 2 year old is obsessed with playdoh, he's getting the new playdoh Magic oven set. Micro scooter, and some Thomas the tank and paw patrol toys from us. I'm asking grandparents for a season pass to the safari park or science centre, his birthday is in January and we've been over run with plastic tat the past few years!
