I think minimalism is fine and lovely if you have a snowy, stark, beautiful landscape to bed it in, as we tend to have dreich at Christmas maximallism is the way!

FantasticBeasts · 13/12/2016 22:09

I have a saying Hairy, when it comes to Christmas decs on my tree and fairy lights in my house ..... more is more.

EnidButton · 13/12/2016 22:11

I like that everyone's are different. Some coordinated, some really sparkly, some eclectic, some minimalist. Love them all.

CaraAspen · 13/12/2016 22:59

Your trees are all lovely. I expected to be attacked for my choice! But this is not AIBU, clearly! x

Enid I LOVE antique and vintage crackers!! Can I see a picture of yours please!??

EnidButton · 14/12/2016 00:02

user Ah sorry, they're in the loft still. I left them up there this year as we didn't use all the decs. I promise that, if I remember, when we're packing the decorations away in the New Year, I'll get them out and take a photo for you. Think there're some 70's lantern lights in there too. Hopefully you'll still be in the festive mood. Xmas Smile

user1477282676 · 14/12/2016 00:04

Enid the loft! Shock Grin Thank you! I am always in the mood to admire old boxes of crackers! I just love them for some reason. Also love vintage fairy lights....they have a much better light than modern ones.

EnidButton · 14/12/2016 00:06

User I have a pic from a couple of years ago. None of the lid or bottom of the box but these are them,

Agree about the lights. I know they're safer etc but I've never loved led lights like bulb ones. I loved the coloured ones we had when I was little.

user1477282676 · 14/12/2016 00:33

Enid Ooooh! Thank you! I think my New Year's resolution is to build up my own collection of vintage crackers and lights! Our old lights we had in the 70s when I was a kid, had this special sort of SMELL to them....it was probably the gently smouldering plastic Grin but I loved it! I used to stand and sniff the lights as they glowed on the tree!

EnidButton · 14/12/2016 01:31

Grin I think I know what you mean! Ours were shaped a bit like spaceships. Maybe they were from the 60's.

Although could it have been the tinsel you could smell? Tinsel has a very distinct scent.

user1477282676 · 14/12/2016 04:46

Hmm maybe. Ours weren't the spaceship ones...ours were more like plastic flowers...like these below

picclick.com.au/Vintage-Christmas-Ornaments-Old-Decorations-Plastic-Fairy-Lights-252591430613.html

Not transparent...but the colours were lovely. I know what you mean about tinsel too! The smell of the old tinsel! It used to be made of actual metal...you could bend each strand...now it's all plasticy.

barefootinkitchen · 14/12/2016 05:15

It isn't symmetrical but I love how bushy it is. Need to get more decorations for this one I think.

Love everyone's trees! I usually do a silver scheme but dug out the red and gold this year to make it more cosy looking

MissMeg Are those the robins from Cox and Cox? Envy They'd sold out before I had chance to buy them. They're lovely!

I'm getting coloured lights envy too from some of these pics. Maybe next year.

Morris What height is your tree please? Think that's the size I'd like next year. Every year I get ours home and think it's too big! Yours looks just right.

missmeg3leg · 15/12/2016 19:29

Endbutton robins were a cheapy from ebay last year! I think £10 for 10!
Just had a look at Cox&Cox.....some lovely decorations on there!...
Found the little bird box decorations in local Home Bargains last week...£1:39 for 4!.... & the little knitted bobble hats are off innocent drinks bottles!.... -bargain- classy twig tree here! 😀🎄😀

EnidButton · 15/12/2016 19:31

Shock Bargains! They look exactly the same if not better. Looking again I think yours are a nicer proper red. I found a lone one at the garden centre that's now on my tree but I'd like a few more.

MrsMattBomer · 15/12/2016 19:55

Wow, all of these are way better than ours! Ours are a mishmash of me trying to make it stylish, and everybody else clinging onto random things from the 70s, 80s and 90s!
