My 6 year old wants a hatchimal. They are only be released so theres no reviews but the ads are on tv 10 times an hour. Are they going to be a big thing this year? I cam discern much from the little there us online. Are they just a big tomigotchi (sp?).

Interested to hear is anyone else considering them. It would be the big pressie this year as they are getting a trampoline berween thwm

I agree, it always happens that shops get the initial stock then plenty more at a later date. Smile

peppapignonstop · 24/10/2016 20:46

Been trying to get one for by dd for a couple of weeks without much luck. Managed to get one in smyths today (purple one). They had about 20 in stock. Dd will be so excited, only thing she has asked for her birthday.

strawberrypenguin · 24/10/2016 21:21

Managed to track down one in Argos - had to keep checking regularly for one in an Argos we could get to (grandparents will pick it up for us as there were none coming up where we live) but it worked in the end!

bummyknocker · 24/10/2016 22:58

My kids just watched one hatching on a CookieSwirlsC video on YouTube - all the fun without the pricetag!!!

What came out didn't look like it was worth the money but watching the hatching was fun - but again not £80 fun.

Once it is out, does it DO anything?

Xmasbaby11 · 24/10/2016 23:25

I've seen the advert many a time. It doesn't look like they do a lot after hatching. The DC won't be getting them as they are so expensive - I wouldn't even consider it.

MTWTFSS · 25/10/2016 06:51

Christmas 2015 My friend Cayla dolls were selling for £59.99. 6 months later being sold on Amazon for £14.99. I predict the same will happen to hatchimals.

mouldycheesefan · 25/10/2016 07:23

They apparently don't do much after hatching, they are not interactive like a furby.

OhFuckOff · 25/10/2016 07:49

Just had a message to say tesco have stock

glenthebattleostrich · 25/10/2016 07:51

Got the same message at 7.36 and they were already gone.

Hi I just posted on bargain page:

HATCHIMAL ALERT!

Thanks so much for the stock informer link.

I've been trying to get hold of the Owlicorn version but it appears Toysrus have the exclusive rights to it (unless you want to pay £££ through a 3rd party seller on Amazon or Ebay).

Anyway, stock informer are showing that Toysrus had some for £59.99. But they appear to only be 'buy in store only'. However, if you create a gift list, add it to that and then add to basket from guest list it allows you to check out for home delivery (free home delivery, might i add). Full instructions are on stock informer next to Toysrus links.

Absolutely over the moon. Never thought I'd get my hands on one as our local Toysrus is hours away so would never have been able to buy in store.

Just hope it does indeed get delivered and this isn't some fluke.

That's my 9yo all done and dusted now. Happy days!

aforestgrewandgrew · 25/10/2016 20:39

I still don't understand what they do exactly. after they hatch. I know they make noises etc but is that bit well-designed? Are they fun to play with or a novelty that wears off?

MiscellaneousAssortment · 25/10/2016 23:31

Waaaah! Disaster has struck, DS now wants a zoomer chimp and apparently loves it and nothing else will do!

He has actually rubbed out the Hatchimal in his (very early) Christmas list... I think I might cry. I hate bloody toy adverts.

mouldycheesefan · 26/10/2016 07:06

Reviews say the hatchimaldoesn't do a lot and quickly becomes boring after it hatches. It can hop about and make a noise and sing. It doesn't interact. It's like a little live pet but doesn't repeat back what you say. That's why my nine year old ended up putting hers back in the shelf when we were looking at them at the weekend. Now she says she is glad she didn't get one. She watched a hatching video after and said "is that it". There were plenty in stock so had she changed her mind we would have gone back for it. I am glad she didn't!

glenthebattleostrich · 26/10/2016 09:02

Just had an alert through, Tesco currently have some pink pengula hatchimals in stock. Just managed to order on :)

intricatedispostion · 26/10/2016 13:33

Yes just got a pink one from Tesco. Hurry up if you want one!

ragdoll700 · 26/10/2016 22:08

I have one pre ordered my 5 year old has asked for one for christmas so while I feel like they are too expensive for what they are and she may not play with it after its hatched its all she has asked for. She will get other stuff but that will be chosen by me as she dosent really ask for stuff yet. I say yet maybe thats her personality my 3 year old has been told to narrow it down she has a list as long as her arm :)

MerylPeril · 26/10/2016 22:22

Sadly Santa has already run out so we won't be able to get one Halloween Wink

ragdoll700 · 27/10/2016 20:01

I had second thoughts they are way too expensive cancelled my pre order

JuneJuly · 28/10/2016 15:11

ReActiv, hi, just wondering if you have received your owlicorn yet? I managed to get an order made for one early this morning whilst they had new stock by using the gift list method (thanks so much for the heads up on that btw) so I'm now really hoping it comes off. Have already been let down by Argos so until I have it here I am a bit jittery!!

JuneJuly · 28/10/2016 20:40

I received an email this evening telling me my owlicorn has been despatched Grin

ReActiv · 31/10/2016 10:21

JuneJuly Mine arrived Saturday! So glad. I had convinced myself it was a fluke and they would cancel it as it technically was an 'in store only' item.

Hope you get yours, too, over the next few days Smile

ragdoll700 · 05/11/2016 11:56

I had to get one in the end its all my little girl is talking about was very lucky to be able to pre order again and picked it up on thursday.

JuneJuly · 06/11/2016 22:31

Mine came in the week too...yay! Grin

JuneJuly · 06/11/2016 22:35

That was lucky ragdoll. Where did you manage to pre-order from? as there are few & far places that actually have or are getting them in stock.

LBOCS2 · 07/11/2016 00:08

I got one from toysrus at about 5.30am on Friday - I was up feeding the baby and it came into stock. Just had an email confirming dispatch.
