soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:
littlerach · 01/12/2006 13:27

S in C, have sent gifts today for H and FM, both dds. have a lovely christmas.

Twiglett · 01/12/2006 13:28

Sam27 Is your tandem pushchair still available

If it is would anybody mind if I nominated a non-MNer as a potential recipient?

She has had a horrific year involving physical abuse from her DP who is now OUT of the house but not giving her any money. Police pressed charges against him.

Anyway I went for a walk with her and her double buggy is totally and utterly shot

If anyone objects I will totally understand

If no-one does I shall send Sam a cat if that's ok

sockmonkey · 01/12/2006 13:35

Thankyou to Val & Bethan

DH about burst into tears when the parcels arrived. He is not normally that emotional, but the kindness you givers have shown has really touched him too.
I would have said thank you yesterday, but DS2 decided to have a nasty accident & we ended up in A&E for most of the evening.

corrina28 · 01/12/2006 13:38

just to let everone know, i was just looking on post office website at the last posting dates and if you are sending anything as a "standard parcel" the last date for delivery is 13th december, ordinary first class mail is 19th december and second class is 16th december, this is assuming that you are sending in the uk.

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 14:15

twiglett, thats sounds like a great idea, i'm sure no-one will object

SecretSantaToMSinYork · 01/12/2006 14:27

To MS with R,S,C and E in York

I have just finished packing a box of goodies for you and will be taking it to the Post Office today - sorry for the delay - but hopefully you and your DC's will recieve a biggish box in the next few days (may need signing for!!)

Anyway - Happy Christmas !!

ohlittletownofBendihem · 01/12/2006 14:59

Flippin' Heck MagicMummy, you trying to get me sacked? A picture of efficiency at work until they here the splashing of my keyboard and the snot strangled choking gurgles........... Beautiful lines, it's going on the fridgexxxx

Paddlechick666 · 01/12/2006 15:32

ParcelForce has just collected your box if you are:

S in H, North Yorks, with baby ds J

it's on a 48 hour delivery so I'm guessing that'll be Tuesday......... I've got a tracking number so CAT me if you wish or have Soapy contact me if you'd prefer.

i'm a little sad around the edges as DH probably won't be home for xmas but receiving my boxes this morning and packing something off this arvo has lifted my spirits.

santaabroad · 01/12/2006 16:14

me23 · 01/12/2006 19:07

I was supposed to be a reciever and a giver but i havent been matched nor have i rcieved anything! it doesnt matter about the receiveing but just thought id mention it cuz i did have some nice girls clothes 6months to 18 months to give.

Mercy · 01/12/2006 19:16

me23, try emailing soapbox again.

[email protected]

If you don't hear from her, say by Sunday, I will contact you. Are you registered for CAT?

I'm sure it's just an oversight. Soapbox is no doubt taking a well-earned rest right now!

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 19:35

Mercy - ME23 has just emailed me, and is definitely on Santa's list

Blossomhill · 01/12/2006 19:42

Hi. Not really seen what is going on but wondered how it all works.

Does one giver get matched to one particular receiver or can you choose who you give to?

Blossomhill · 01/12/2006 19:55

bump before I go offline

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 19:59

Blossomhill - a fair few specified someone who they wanted to send to - kind of nominating that person in the process.

Others listed what they had to send, and I matched them to whoever had children that matched that stuff.

A lot of people just said they were sending 'a gift' or 'vouchers' and I just did my best to spread those around - not having the slightest idea what they were actually sending

Mercy · 01/12/2006 20:11

Thanks Soapbox, I did think (after I posted in a bit of a hurry that i was being a bit presumptuous )

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 20:14

LOL - Mercy - it has been my biggest worry throughout this whole thing - that someone gets forgotton.

I was panick stricken as I scurried off to see whether I had matched ME23 - as only RL names were on my list - and mightely relieved to find that she was there afterall - phew

SoapysElf · 01/12/2006 20:28

To A in FRANCE with 3 children - H, F and M .. please check your email

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 20:32

Hi Elfie

I have a feeling that this person was talking about having to move house and I rather suspect she is without internet access at the moment.

To be fair it might be for the best that no-one can send presents atm, as they'd probably all end up at the wrong address.

OTOH, I hate to think of her sitting waiting for a bit of help with Christmas that doesn't arrive in time!

sam27 · 01/12/2006 20:37

Twiglett I have emailed you back re the pushchair.

ChristmasisComing · 01/12/2006 21:00

Just in case anyone is worried I will be sending out my parcel on Monday to M in Brum with ds's H and O
