*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:

soapbox Did you get the email i sent you, late last night/early this morning????

I'm going to send again, just in case as i've not heard anything!!!

magicmummy · 30/11/2006 22:48

To J with S, M, R & L, your parcel was sent today. Hope you all like everything and have a fabulous Christmas.

ToMyWonderfulSender · 30/11/2006 23:19

A HUGE Thank You from Z, M & myself for the fabulous box of gifts that arrived for us.
I have so far resisted the temptation to peek under the cellotape at the list of contents so it will be a surprise for me aswell !!!

May your Christmas be wrapped in happiness..........and tied with love.

TjacksonpfcSantaToo · 30/11/2006 23:21

I'm making you something over the weekend and will post it early next week. Hope you don't mind the wait!

magicmummy · 30/11/2006 23:27

I've been trying to find the words to sum up my feelings of the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006 and I would like to pass this message on to you all.

A Christmas gift was once passed to me
And I would like to pass it to you
Now I hope that you would cherish this
And perhaps, possibly pass it along too

It's not a gift that you can open
Like a box of sweets or treasure
But brings much love, this I guarantee
Granting many endless days of pleasure

It's not even rare, but it's unto its own
And not ever on sale in a store
It's also unique, yet extremely well known
So just why would I give this away ?

Well if you hold it close to your heart
It will guide, and console you
Yet help you smile when times are bleak
It's a magic gift through and through

Freely given away it's unique and rare
One you can carry around with you too
This Christmas gift is invisible to the eye
It's a gift of friendship knowing people like you.

Fattymumma · 30/11/2006 23:43

Oh my good lord!

I have had not one but 2 more gifts today.

A lovely note from LB saying that there are some items on their way and another package from J D and A with two wrapped presents in, one for each of my children.

I am truely astonished, i was so incredibly moved yesterday when i realised i had been nominated and recieved that fantastic gift voucher, but to now have these extra things...i am speechless.

Thank you so so much, i really cannot express what this means to me.

Mxxx

threelittlegifts · 30/11/2006 23:55

elliepmummy

I think we are sending to the same person

Could you email me at stacey 4 mike at aol dot com so we could co-ordinate ie. I make sure I dont send any duplicates?

Thanks in advance (am sure this is past your bedtime though, so hope we can get our heads together tomorrow)

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 00:33

Mhamai · 01/12/2006 07:12

Pinktinsel I've tried to cat you but nothing has come back, can you give me your e mail again as that failed too. x

Flamesparrow · 01/12/2006 08:13

Galaxy!!! C in Dorset with B&E has had so much!! You are all so kind - my babies are going to have such a good christmas this year!!!

SueQ · 01/12/2006 10:01

I know it's past the deadline but have only just joined the thread - can I join in too. I'd love to be a giver and reciever

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 10:14

Just to let any new joiners to this thread know, that the appeal is now closed for this year!

I have had a few very generous offers of help since the MN newsletter went out but I have deleted all the email addresses, contact details from my inbox already - and importantly the spreadsheet is not more

I will respond to any of the emails I have received offering help, but just wanted people coming to the thread for the first time to know that for this year, at least - it is done and dusted!

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 10:15

Sorry - that should have said that the spreadsheet is NOW no more

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 10:18

Sue - although the appeal is closed - if you email me on [email protected] with your RL name and address, I will try and get some stocking fillers sent out to you for your children

ithinkihavemumofmonsters · 01/12/2006 10:39

i know i have

and have jsut posetd to you tyhis morning - recorded delivery so fingers crpossed it ought to be with you in the morning.

Wisp · 01/12/2006 10:42

A quick question:
If we havn't recieved an email- I guess that means I have not been matched, and can donate elsewhere?
Thanks

Soapythelistmaker · 01/12/2006 10:43

Wisp - if you email me - I can double check. I thought I had matched everyone that had offered by the appeal deadline?

ohlittletownofBendihem · 01/12/2006 10:54

Soapy - Sorry to be a pest. I was Bendi before Christmas name. I've just dropped my parcel with the local carrier & they say they need a phone no. before they send it off to check someone will be avaialble to accept it. I've sent you an email to soapbox1964 with a bit more detail. If you could let me have recepients info (with their permission of course)by email back I'd really appreciate it. Sorry again, as if you weren't busy enough......
Thanks for everything

SueQ · 01/12/2006 11:03

Thank you so much Soapbox, have sent mail to you. I'm really looking forward to next christmas already - what a brilliant idea.

PinkTinsel · 01/12/2006 11:18

mhamai, it's dee_pinktulips AT hotmail DOT com

PostOfficeTrauma · 01/12/2006 13:02

Went to the Post Office this morning to post my parcel and.... IT IS BEING REFURBISHED!!! So, L in C with children B and A, I'm sorry for the delay but I won't be able to get to another Post Office until monday & will send then. Honestly, you'd think the Post Office would be able to find a better time to close!!

shouldbedoinghousework · 01/12/2006 13:11

Just to let my receiver A (with children C and N) know that I'm off to post a parcel to you now so you should receive it in the next few days. My kids have insisted that we wrap the pressies so I hope they'll be a great suprise on Christmas morning x x

HappySender · 01/12/2006 13:12

Dh and ds have just been to the post office and sent a parcel to K M and S so keep a look out in the next few days. It went standard parcels so should be with you early next week.
Happy Christmas

Dottydot · 01/12/2006 13:21

Hi
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the people who nominated me to be a receiver - Soapy contacted me and I was and and and all at the same time!!! I un-nominated us because we're really OK this year and even fairly organised - have got most of our stuff for ds's so all's well in the Dottydot household!

But thank you whoever nominated us - I didn't want you thinking I was an ungrateful bint because it meant a lot. xxx

FrannyandZooey · 01/12/2006 13:23

I have lost touch with my receiver - I was arranging to send the parcel to her parents' house, but don't know if she has got my recent emails as I haven't heard from her. Can you send me the address if you see this, A, as I have a parcel for H, F and M
