Surprisingly calm despite the fact I've still got to:

  1. Wrap DD x3 presents
  2. Assemble Jumperoo and doll swing.
  3. Do food shop
  4. Clean house
I refuse to panics (yet). Merry Christmas all!

I'm pretty much done now actually. I've even surprised myself

I've just got to make some marshmallows (part of a present) but I'm leaving that until the last minute and put some labels on some bottles of homemade limoncello (another present)

DH is picking up the turkey on his way home tonight

Had a mad cleaning fit over the weekend so the house is clean and tidy, presents all wrapped and Sainsbury's delivery due tonight.

That's it I think - although I'm sure there's a million things I've forgotten about but if it isn't done now, it isn't getting done Grin

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 23/12/2014 09:23

Most of the wrapping is done, spare room sorted out for guest staying, food and booze gotten in...

Still have to sort the table out, clean bathroom, pray that deliveries arrive in time!

DeathMetalMum · 23/12/2014 09:25

Wrap some presents for dd's probably 10 max.
I am out most of today though visiting grans and friends and rhyme time at the library this morning (thank god it's on today!).
One or two loads of laundry.
Clean and tidy downstairs - got most of upstairs done already.
I am getting twichy that dd1 (3) doesn't have much to play with on xmas day - main present is a scooter but dp will reassure me - plus every Christmas up until now everything other than her new colouring book from her stocking has been practically ignored. Must not twitch!

I'm too organised for me.

TarnishdWithAshAndSootgremlin · 23/12/2014 09:25

We had Christmas Day on Saturday as the DC flew out on Sunday with their Dad to visit his family. So I am very relaxed indeed. I'm mostly watching my box sets, catching up with laundry and finishing one present that I'm making for a friend.

EthelCardew · 23/12/2014 09:40

We are all ill but I've been pretty organised this year, which is a miracle in itself, and so all I've got to do, in between resting up, is:

  • bake allergy-friendly cookies/cheese straws/crumble all with DD over today and tomorrow as she loves cooking
  • Wrap presents tonight and tomorrow. Suffering hideous insomnia from chest infection steroids I'm on so shouldn't be a problem! I find the wrapping paper gets all damaged if I do them early and stuff back into hiding.
  • wash 1 load
  • clean down kitchen thoroughly
  • might pop out for a twitch if I feel up to it.

justmuddling I have a sneaking suspicion I have forgotten something too. It shouldn't feel this calm!

ArtyFartyQueen · 23/12/2014 09:41

Aaargh so here's my list which is longer than I had hoped due to DS having a tummy bug since Friday and me with a cold/sore throat thing

  1. Scrape off paint from the dining room floor and hoover/mop (we have been painting our table and chairs!)
  2. Finish wrapping pressies
  3. Finish writing cards for neighbours
  4. Make Rainbow fudge for neighbours and Family
  5. Have friend, her DS and DD's friend round this afternoon
  6. Work out what we are having for tea and er cook it!
  7. Venture out and do the Christmas food shop when DP gets home and
7a Make sure Christmas food shop list is done before leaving for said Christmas food shop
  1. Clean and Tidy the WHOLE house!

Tomorrow is another list altogether!

cece · 23/12/2014 09:41

Oh and laundry.

Philoslothy · 23/12/2014 09:42

Everything. We have no food or presents.

Badvocinapeartree · 23/12/2014 09:44

Today...
Do food shop
Go to pharmacy for meds for ill people.
Take washing to mums to dry - dryer broke last week!
Wrap stocking gifts...last gifts to wrap.
Both dc ill with nasty colds/coughs but Dh breaks up at lunchtime today so at least I will have some help later.
Supposed to be going to pils tomorrow for dinner.
Then Xmas day at home
Then Boxing Day out with friends.
We shall see....
Oh! And I need to make some mince pies....

ArcheryAnnie · 23/12/2014 09:45

Still haven't got an oven...

BrieAndChilli · 23/12/2014 09:45

I was up til 6am wrapping but it is all now doneGrin I am just knackered!

Need to give the house a once over (did a big clean on the weekend so it's just a quick Hoover, wipe of loo etc)

Clean the fridge and oven

Get washing out the way - probably a couple of loads

Do 6 am good shop tomorrow morning

Sort out beds and bedding for everyone, blow up mattresses etc

bryonyelf · 23/12/2014 09:46
  1. Sainsburys will be here within the next hour or so.
  2. Marks and spencer for the 3 bird roast this afternoon
  3. Tidy the house for the cleaner coming tomorrow
  4. Wrap stuff. Will start tonight I think.
kohl · 23/12/2014 09:46

Am panicking a bit.
Massive laundry mountain to sort.
Make mince pies.
Clean kitchen.
Wrap almost all the presents
Finish knitting a blanket & scarf
not ruin Christmas by shouting at insanely over excited 4 year old.
And the most terrifying one-go to selfridges to buy MIL Xmas present.

ArcheryAnnie · 23/12/2014 09:49

Oh, and Timewarp your post just gave me the most massive sense of relief! DS is young enough for me to expect a good few xmasses yet with him, but I had a weird "xmas alone when he's gone" pang earlier, when previously I have been entirely relaxed about that prospect. You have restored it!

TimeWarp · 23/12/2014 09:52

Grin Archeryannie.

Purplehonesty · 23/12/2014 09:53

Have to wrap everything.
Collect ham from butcher and do food shop.
Buy dh a wee present from the kids
Finish cleaning the house
That's it! Phew.
Oh no; make mince pies for Santa.

arlagirl · 23/12/2014 09:55

Just got back from Waitrose...painless. Hardly anyone in.

Frontron · 23/12/2014 10:01

Can always rely on mumsnet to remind me of something I've forgotten and this time it's that I need to soak the ham tonight lol.
I was in tesco by 7am today so all shopping done bar the last twitch that dh is currently out looking for.
House was cleaned top to bottom yesterday so just got to keep on top of it.
Music needs putting on ds2's mp3 before I wrap it but all other presents are wrapped and hidden.
A handful of neighbour cards need writing and delivering today.
Making mince pies with ds's tomorrow and I'll also cook the ham.
Been re-checking my lists as I feel too organised but so far so good Xmas Smile

Methe · 23/12/2014 10:07

Clean entire house.
Collect sainsburys food order
Collect presents from Mil last thing on Christmas eve

That's it. At the moment I'm sitting in my nighty drinking tea. The ham is bubbling on the stove though so I don't fee too guilty.

Reeseair · 23/12/2014 10:10
  • Groceries shopping!
  • Still have 30% of the gifts to wrap
  • Put on our new sofa covers
  • Get a haircut :)
MindReader · 23/12/2014 10:11

Quite a bit of wrapping. Kids both out for 1.5 hrs today so that is my ONLY chance, as bedtime has gone to hell this week. They are still not UP yet.

Cleaning/tidying. I WILL NOT wake up in a muddled grubby house on Xmas Day! It IS clean. It WAS tidy. Gone to hell re kids getting out stuff from years ago, all week...

Food done except for: loo roll. Marigolds. Lettuce.

ShinyToyBuns · 23/12/2014 10:16

Clean the house
Shop for brownie ingredients
Make brownies!
Wrap everything
Buy more snacky type bits for boxing day

cerealqueen · 23/12/2014 10:17

Food shop but we have the turkey, phew.

wrap presents - tonight, determined not to leave till tomorrow, so we can assemble anything we need to. One year we were up till midnight xmas eve assembling a sodding play kitchen. Another time, it took DP nearly all xmas day to assemble the dolls house. We had a six week old and I had to cook all the dinner.
Tidy a bit - its just us four so keeping it simple!
