Why cant, do you realise your over on the christmas threads, its what we do over here, share ideas, lists, ask for ideas, tips, on all sorts of things....

presents are, although some posters obv loathe them, a part of christmas....they will be discussed over here on the christmas board..

differentnameforthis I know you didnt say all but who says people cant sit and do lego or duplo as a family and build something? What's to say our houses are not already overrun by board games....personally we have that many I've resorted to keeping them on top of the kitchen fridge. We also DO join in with the xbox, hence the Disney Infinity.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers Yes I did take it as bitchy because while other's are jumping at me slagging off my parent skill's with the absolute tosh that was 'buying your kids love' you jump in with 'laura do you have to keep using x, its grating me me', of course it then just looks like your having a pop, which others have agreed with because I do not know how you ladies work over her. Had I joined mumsnet on the off chance, id of read a bit, noticed the x wasnt used then tried my best to not use it (habit now as it goes on every single text I send etc), but I joined to defend myself to bullies so didn't have the time to see how it all works. And now I don't see why I should change to make a bunch of bullies happier.

Thank you for the tip regarding the Ipad, I was actually looking at the mini due to the small hands?? We have never owned a tablet before so its all new to us. I have just upgraded my phone to the iphone 6plus which runs on ios 8 and wasn't awear of these problems?

knitted, i've bought the guitar with some inheritance money i got from my nan, its way, way over what i normally spend, but after the year i've had, DH's support has been amazing, and he deserves it.

he won't get that kind of money spent on him again.. he's normally lucky to get £20 spent on him at christmas

I think tagging pictures is great. I often go on Pinterest to get inspiration and have found loads of great ideas.

Yes that's correct DreamsOfFreddieInTheNight (sorry still trying to catch up).

A thread was started on NM about what people had brought so far, but in pictures....no difference to the list idea. Then a lady on here posted asking for 'Am I being stingy' which is on this Christmas forum, someone then linked to our thread on NM and verbally ganged up on me (other's too) But I got more stick because I put on my list that my 2 boys (3 next friday and 5) will also receive ipads (DS2 is in and out of hospital on Oxygen so needed something to help when he is in bed on the oxygen and cannot visit the toy or arts/crafts room), the ladies of MN didnt know this and ripped into me, another thread was then created which also lead to the talk of our pictures thread, again I was slatted like you would believe as well as my children's names being mentioned etc. I then joined up purely to defend myself.

To my surprise a lot of ladies from MN came on to defend me and said that they liked the pictures thread and wanted one of their own x

there's some nice ones in homebase too!

ours usually goes up about the 18-20th, not sure this year, we have a cat, so i've bought a smaller tree and non-smashable decorations.. and will be foregoing the lights, so at least if she knocks it over, it'll just be a matter of picking it up and putting the stuff back on it!

Laura, watch out with the iPad that you make sure in app purchases are disabled, as often games are free but add ons arent

I think a lot of people find the idea of posting photos of enormous piles of presents very emotive for a myriad of different reasons; some not great, hence the reactions.

whycantitbetangy that's because your taking it as showing off.....no difference to the holiday threads, designer clothes thread......its same as the list threads except you can see what things actually look like rather than just 1 list.

Personally I think the pictures are a great idea, its great for ideas if stuck for someone, a lot of times I've asked what I can buy so & so and if people say 'oh buy blah blah blah' It's normally something I haven't heard of or seen before, so looking at the pictures I do find helpful.

I'm burying my head until my next wages go in, then will think seriously about it all, I've gotten a few bits just finding it difficult to think of things for a 1yo.

ds (8) is getting Skylanders Trap Team and some other figures along with it. He'll be getting some clothes and the ps3 version of Terraria. He'll also get the second series of the Beast Quest books

dd is getting lego, clothes and some money for some skin/texture packs on minecraft, i'm also making her some jewellery and she'll get a couple of soft toys and other bits and bobs.

stocking fillers are usually little pocket money toys, bubbles, chocolate, moshi monsters or pokemon figurines.

I was merely defending myself Glistens, if people want to still come on and slate me I will respond.

Probably 1st December nic013 although we normally put the tree up the evening before our town's light's switch on as that's a huge deal for us as the kids get so excited. Although they have brought that forward to sat 22nd which means the tree goes up friday 21st....gets earlier and earlier! x

fixerupperz I found it hard when DS was 1 and 2 to buy for as he just wasn't interested in toys so I just got toot toot stuff and put money into his bank account.
