The one after Robotgate, away in a manger it’s the 4th Christmassy bargain thread

Away in a manger is a nod to girlwiththeyellowhats - we await a live birth thread on here Wink no pressure to call your DC Holly or Noel

I can?t believe we are on the fourth thread already I blame robotgate for using up the last thread Wink . Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren?t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don?t work or if there?s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Seems the book people are 25 this week and having a series of flash lunchtime sales just from 12-2pm each day.

Today they have up to 85% off their 25 favourite books - so there's quite a few good things for kids:
Thomas collection of 68 books - £30 instead of £200
Cat in the Hat knows a lot about that - £3 instead of £12
Lego city brickmaster book (ie book plus some bricks) £6 instead of £20 (I've previously managed to get these at a fiver on a deal they did on here on a separate flash sale, they make nice presents for kids if you usually give them a smallish box of lego as there's enough bricks in there to make several different models, albeit not all at the same time, with the instructions and story incorporated into the book bit)
Guess how much I love you collection of 10 books £8
Planes hardback storybook £3 instead of £12
etc

As I said, these offers disappear at 2pm today but it's worth looking out to see what they do for the next few days.

HappyAsEyeAm · 28/08/2013 12:45

You can still use THANKS for free delivery on The Book People's flash sale. I have just bought Winnie's Dinosaur Day (winnie the witch book) for £2 and a 3-in-1 winnie the witch book for £7 using this free delivery code.

craftynclothy · 28/08/2013 12:58

Just in case anyone is as mental as me and making their own advent calendars, I've just ordered loads of little filler bits from All About Party Bags

craftynclothy · 28/08/2013 12:59

Oh and thanks to whoever mentioned buying samples on Ebay. I've picked up 20 perfume samples for me and the same for Dh for our calendars Smile

Barbeasty · 28/08/2013 13:12

zulily have 40% off Brio railway until Monday.

Has anyone seen a cheap but nice union jack duvet set?

And what would you get for a 14 year old boy for under £10?

HairyPorter · 28/08/2013 13:18

Thanks zipzap. I've been eyeing their winter wonderland collection and it's on at £8 instead of £10!

ballinacup · 28/08/2013 13:25

Dunno who was annoyed they'd missed the amazon deal but the imaginext t rex is £24.99 in smyths.

sniffywhiff · 28/08/2013 13:26

Which slushy cups on Amazon are the good ones please? Seem to have loads there Confused

CarmonEileen · 28/08/2013 13:28

Thanks for this thread. Have just ordered The Secret Mermaid collection from the Book People for Dd, she is 6.8 and desperate for decent books, have never found anything to satisfy her so far so hope these will be good. Does anyone have any other good reads for a 6yr old? Thanks.
Also reserved and picked up the Minnie mouse make up set from the Op, its a very small box, glad I wasn't tempted at £20 haha! Grin

shufflebum · 28/08/2013 14:04

Ooh that was me ballinacup thanks, missed it twice on Amazon so def going to get it now!

Mrswilliams87 · 28/08/2013 14:09

Here are 20 kids books for £20 - sounds like a good deal to me!

toisa · 28/08/2013 14:24

sniffywhiff slushy cups Back up to £13 though. Keep them on your amazon wish list and keep eye on price...

runningincircles · 28/08/2013 14:30

JazzAnn I bought the set of 20 books and they arrived yesterday. I'm really pleased with them. It is a nice set with lots of traditional stories. The illustrations are lovely.
There is a big push in schools at the moment for children to know and be able to retell lots of fairy tales and traditional stories. This set is ideal for helping children with that.

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2013 14:54

Carmon my DD has been reading fairy magic. The book people have sets for the best price I have seen. You do not need to start with series one.

zipzap · 28/08/2013 15:06

For those wanting bottles for Xmas vodka, if you can use screw top lids, think about getting some of the Bottlegreen elderflower etc cordial. Drink the cordial (or maybe would it work with the vodka?) then wash the bottle and peel off the label.

Then you're left with a tall green almost cone shaped (the top ends in a cap rather than a point!) that holds 500ml.

A few stickers or a couple of glitter pens it would be easy to turn the bottle into a Christmas tree design. And hey presto, one free Christmassy vodka bottle...

sniffywhiff · 28/08/2013 15:15

Thanks toisa! I'm not very good at this but wondering if I know lots of people who are, then I'm going to have a rubbish Xmas with 97p earrings and Skittles vodka when I open my presents Grin. Best practice my 'how lovely!' face . . .

ValiumQueen · 28/08/2013 15:23

Skittle vodka is ace Grin

Last time I saved the little screw top wine bottles after drinking the contents obviously. A pretty label and Christmas tape around the lid and they went down really well. I used them to make the vodka in too, just leaving an inch at the top for shaking.

frogchops · 28/08/2013 16:00

Does anyone know if the deals on the book people ever appear twice/again?
I'd love the guess how much I love you set for £8....it finished at 2pm :-(

HenriettaPye · 28/08/2013 16:26

Very have 70% off clothes with an extra 24% for 24 hours only. Cute little shorts and t shirt sets for babies for only £1.90

leesmum · 28/08/2013 16:36

Fisher price are giving away 40,000 of These I think you just have to register and fill a few details in Smile

zipzap · 28/08/2013 16:36

book people offers tend to come and go. as they're doing a week of offers to celebrate their 25th anniversary, all as lunchtime flash sales I think, you might find that it reappears or that there's money off if you spend a certain amount which would bring it down to the right price and so on. Certainly worth checking each day what the offer is to see if it comes up again. And worth signing up for their email in the longer run; they seem to have something going once if not twice a month, plus last year I think they had different advent offers. Pretty sure I got some of the lego brickmaster books on an advent offer for a fiver each.

Plus I think somebody earlier said you can combine the flash sales with a free postage code which is an extra saving! Might be worth double checking with whatever cashback site you use too as you might also be able to combine it with that...
