So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

Dear overthemill

I was having a bit of a bad day. Not dreadful, just irritating, just lots of little worries and stresses piling up.

I clicked on this thread and was reading through and as I read I was feeling bad that I hadn't done piles of thoughtful beautifully wrapped presents. I'd known that I wouldn't get chance to do anything like that, but I just wanted to play a part and spread a bit of Christmas spirit... It was something quick and easy to buy but so many good wishes for you lie behind it.

And then I saw your post and grinned ear to ear like this Xmas Grin (because I am of course wearing my Santa hat).

We are indeed strangers, I don't think we've even ever been on the same threads, but thank you for your Christmas wishes for me and my family. I wish you a quick return to health, lots of happiness, a wonderful Christmas and a New Year where everything you ever hoped might happen for you and your family all comes at once. Unmumsnetty hugs to you too - your post made my day.

thegreylady · 05/12/2012 20:35

Posted mine Friday-I do hope it arrives-no word on here yet.

shazian · 05/12/2012 21:03

MN173, i received your lovely gift today. I cannot tell you how much it means to me, for a complete stranger to be so generous and thoughtful. I had forgotten i was nominated for the mn xmas appeal, so it was the most amazing surprise.

Your card was lovely and i was in tears reading it, it is the nicest thing i ever received from anyone, just to know someone else, a stranger can be so thoughtful and think of you is just beyond words. I will treat myself thank you so much and im sure DS will be over the moon with his present too.

You really have made my week, my hubby was so blown away with your kindness and lovely words too that he was almost in tears, in fact even our youngest DS age 10 keeps talking about the lovely lady and keeps saying mum sure there are lots of nice people in the world :).

Hope you and your family have the best ever christmas, hope santa is good to you all, very best wishes in 2013.

Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart xxxxx

I received a GC in the post yesterday. Thank you so VERY much... Christmas here was bound to be dismal - now I can get a little something for both of the DCs. You are amazing!

SecretSanta008 · 05/12/2012 21:58

MN008 I also posted something last week. I don't have any way of tracking the parcel but just wanted to say that I haven't forgotten you and if there's a postal problem and you get in touch I can easily sort something else out Xmas Smile

Fillybuster · 05/12/2012 23:10

cfc I'm so glad it all arrived...I'm sorry it's only 'little' things, but I do hope you enjoy your bits on xmas day (and remember: no peeking!)

MrsDV - I admit to ignoring the older 2 dcs for one of my 'secret santas'...I wasn't sure if they were still at home, and I had specifically offered something for the MNer (in that instance) rather than the dcs, so I just put in a few things for their littlest dc alongside the 'real' gift.....

SecretMN050 I think MNHQ may have got their spreadsheets in a twist....there's a parcel from me heading your way too (if it isn't one of the 3 boxes you mentioned!) Although I don't think I've been as organised or generous as your other donor.....Confused Blush so please don't be disappointed when you open the one from me!

Fillybuster · 05/12/2012 23:11

Sorry, that last bit was intended to be for DesperateHousewife21, not SecretSantaMN050.....arrghhh..... Grin

MN069 · 06/12/2012 00:06

Recipient 069, yours will be posted at the end of next week Xmas Smile

everydayaschoolday · 06/12/2012 01:07

Hi Filly Your parcel arrived first for DesperateHousewife21, on Monday I think. Your thank you is at the top of page 10 and she absolutely loved your gifts! xx

Recipient111 · 06/12/2012 09:15

So excited - my parcel arrived today! Very grateful as tbh it has been a bit of a rubbish year - a lengthy bout of glandular fever, dh overseas for the best part of a year (9 months to go!) and recurring bouts of depression (none of which makes it onto mumsnet under my usual nickname). Many, many thanks to the generous sender - haven't unwrapped it yet but it doesn't sound as though anything is broken inside! (Fragile sticker!)

Snapespeare · 06/12/2012 09:24

Might be sniggering a little at 'recipient 069' Sorry.

SS024

Package arrived yesterday thank you so much, lots of little bits & bobs for Christmas which are much needed & sweets for the stockings which I fear may not last that long as the DD's fell upon them as soon as I opened the bag!!

The gift bags & lovely paper will make it a real pleasure to wrap the few prezzies I've got for family this year -your timing is impeccable as this w/e the DD's are with their Dad so I was going to have a day of sorting out & wrapping while I can. Your card & sweet words made me all warm & fuzzy & yes dear reader I wept! Also my first card of the season.

So thanks too for my nominator norty Mn-er I think I can guess who it was but that was very sweet to think of us.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL! Wine Xmas Grin

Fillybuster · 06/12/2012 10:43

Aha....another double up....Recipient 069 - you've got 1 parcel already on its way to you - and another coming soon Grin

I'm getting the hang of this now :) :)

feeno · 06/12/2012 11:09

SecretSantaMN065-I really wish I could give you a huge hug and a kiss. You have no idea how touched I was. Thank you so very much-I'm gonna make sure I'm at the giving end next year. Didn't even know about it as I'm pretty newish to MN (joined earlier this year).

Thank you for the perfect pressies. God bless you and my nominator. I wish I knew who you both are but I understand the need for anonymity. I'm really stumped as to why anyone would think I'm deserving. Thank you thank you thank you. Xxx

Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

Hello Secret Santa MN156

How would you like me to use the voucher? You haven't specified. It's addressed to me, but I have two children who I can't really afford to buy presents for, so if you have no preference, I can use it to get some stuff off of their wish list? Just wanted to be sure that is your intention, only I would find it difficult to spend it on myself when they need it more than I do.

Thank you so much for your generosity. And to my nominator.

This year has been absolutely awful for me, my health is very poor as I have inflammatory arthritis and kidney disease and I've had all sorts of escapades trying to get care sorted, money sorted (still fighting my DLA appeal!) and then this Autumn housing sorted as we became threatened with homelessness.

On top of that, my DD has behavioural issues which I have been trying to get help for since she was two, and it hasn't been taken seriously until she started reception this year. Finally we are getting somewhere, but it's a long slow process, and she delights in giving me very big frights (like the night she escaped the house and was brought back by the police).

Her long suffering brother, my DS, has his own issues to deal with as he has a mild hearing loss and is getting used to wearing his hearing aid, and to having a sick mummy and difficult sister. He has also now been picked up as potentially having some difficulties similar to his sister by schools SENCO.

Things are a long way from sorted, but we are getting there, we are taking the steps to get there. And Christmas is a time where we all forget about that and have fun as a family, so this will help to bring us that little respite period and to put a smile on our faces.

For that I am truly grateful.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. To my donor, my nominator and to Mumsnet for being the haven that keeps me sane.

bochead · 06/12/2012 11:15

MNsanta 021

Thank you so much!

What a wonderful suprise we got this morning. As we are on benefits your gifts WILL make a huge difference to our Xmas this year. More than that though, is the wonderful warm fuzzy feeling we've gotten from your gift.

My son is now determined to be as kind as he can to the smaller kids at school, in the hope of "spreading the good feelings Mum".

It's not often I cry, but I was just so touched by your kindness this morning.

Firawla · 06/12/2012 12:55

I don't know who mine is from but i got a red card through today from the postman (i was in!! postman clearly didnt bother to ring the doorbell!) but I'm having it redelivered on sat and i was quite excited even by the red card so sure I will be even more excited when I get the actual parcel!

SantaTo014 · 06/12/2012 12:56

message to my matchee- i am working on a gift for you, your DH and your DD, however, amazon are being more than normally slow in delivering one of the items i ordered. it is on its way (apparently) although i am just about to ring them as it should have been here 2 days ago. the parcel will not be loads, but hopefully will give a little bit of christmas cheer. xxx

Fillybuster · 06/12/2012 14:02

RabbitsmakeGOLDbaubles Your post just made me cry. At my desk. In a new job Grin Blush I hope you have a great start to 2013!

santa183 · 06/12/2012 14:16

To MN183.

So please it arrived. Sorry it's not nearly as exciting as everyone else's sounds and the one for you is really very small and maybe entirely inappropriate as I don't know you at all or what you would like. And there is nothing for any dp as I didn't know if there was one. But I hope you enjoy it all anyway.
x

MN208 · 06/12/2012 15:34

dearest cardamomginger

I cant really explain how receiving your card/gift lifted my spirits today - it really is so kind. If i ever needed a boost, the kindness shown here was it. I am absolutely thrilled.

I ummed and arghed about filling in my details to send back to HQ when i got the email to say i had been nominated - i didnt really feel i deserved it, but someone took the time out of their day to nominate, for which i was very touched, and i was equally touched today to receive such a lovely and incredibly generous and versatile gift.

im going to pm you this message too just in case you miss it among all the jolly santas thanking all you lovely mumsnetters.

thank you lovely cardamomginger
