So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

My parcel arrived tonight and I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my secret santa ..

I was soo touched when mn said i had been nominated. I've had a tough year emotionally but Its not like we are in need and I thought there must be others out there in more need than us but mnhq said it might be someone just wanted to say thank you for support so I agreed to accept the nomination

I didnt know what to expect..but I certainly didnt expect the pile of presents that arrived tonight.
Little one was delighted with the toys and the sweeties. We thought all the pressies were brilliant and we thought the gift card on top was just too generous

But what really made this parcel special was the butterfly you gave us in memory of our darling son stillborn 8.5 years ago.. we are going to find pride of place for it amongst the christmas decorations

When we light our candles we will think of you and yours

so a huuugee thank you from our family to yours

hope you have a fabulous christmas and hope 2013 is good to you all

Recipient MN065 here.

A HUGE Thanks to both the sender of the gifts and the person who nominated me. I really and honestly don't feel deserving and almost ignored the many requests from MNHQ to accept and provide my details. They are a rather persistent lot aren't they! plus I was tired of being sat on in an attempt to get me to cough up my details

I absolutely adore the Lamaze toy for DS2 and so does he! (DS1 had the firefly when he was teeny so the peacock is perfect for his lil brother). DS1 is loving his new books and I've scoffed one of the box of chocolates already.

It's been a pretty shitty year and I'll be glad to see the back of it but I'll always remember Dec 2012 as the time that the kindness of strangers gave me hope for the future.

Thank you soooooooo much. I feel overwhelmed by the lufflyness. Wishing all of you a merry Christmas! Xmas Smile

Forrecipient70 · 04/12/2012 23:07

MN070,
I am so pleased you liked the gifts. It was an absolute pleasure to choose for you both and I'm particularly glad you liked the butterfly. I have mine on the tinsel on our bannister in the hall. We see it as we come home.
Not sure if you opened all of them, if so I hope you also found the small one for you inside the bigger one, if that makes sense Grin.
Wishing you all a magical Christmas and a wonderful 2013. x

YankNCock · 05/12/2012 01:48

I was going to be anonymous, but wanted to say a huge thank you to whoever nominated me too! I've not been on MN as much as I used to be, was very surprised to get the email.

And now to say thank you so much SS217, I received the parcel today. As soon as I saw that it said 'The mumsnetter of the house', I burst into tears and kept blubbing off and on all evening. Then there was husband asking 'where did these come from?', and us both marvelling at the generosity of a complete stranger. We've decided if we're even just a bit better off next year we will sign up to be on the giving end of the appeal. The boys will wait till Christmas to open the gifts, thanks for the cute notes saying what's in them, I know DS1 especially will be happy to have new books and a fun new activity. The baby is less particular, but I'm quite pleased to have some things for him that aren't hand-me-downs :-)

It has been a pretty crappy year, and the last few weeks especially had just about killed any enthusiasm I had for Christmas. Now I am actually looking forward to putting up the tree, I need somewhere to put the gifts!

Thanks again, whoever you are, you've actually given me some proper Christmas cheer.

MOSagain · 05/12/2012 08:17

I'm hoping to get mine in the post early next week. Something I wanted to buy was a special order so am just waiting for that.

SecretSantaMN065 · 05/12/2012 09:16

I'm so glad the presents arrived safely and that you all like them Grin

It gave me an enormous amount of pleasure choosing stuff (I took the easy option of choosing things my DS loves Wink)

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas Xmas Smile and that 2013 brings you lots of happiness, health and success!

fillybuster MN030

Thank you so very very much for your fantastic parcel! So well thought out and i was JUST thinking the day it arrived that I need a mobile for the noob now he's starting to look around himself.

Thank you thank you thank you. I am so appreciative and still can't believe I have been nominated. I thought long and hard about accepting/declining the nomination as I am certainly not in need and I didn't want to take away from anyone who deserves/needs this pick me up much much more than I do, of which I am sure there are many. But the email from MNHQ basically told me to be grateful and graceful in acceptance - so I was.

Thank you again and thank you to whoever nommed me. I think I know why.

Next year I will pay it forward, I promise. I wish I'd known about this appeal this year.

Ps I am so sorry it's taken me a couple of days to reply with thanks, but I've been lost in a haze of breastfeeding and fighting 2 & 3 year olds!! not to mention my geriatric dog eating shitty nappies out of the bin boak x

BlameItOnTheCuervoHoHo · 05/12/2012 09:47

Secret Santa 016, thank you so much for the present. ds will love it! Thanks

Haribojoe · 05/12/2012 10:11

Am off to the post office tomorrow with my parcel, got everything crossed that "my family" like it.

I love being part of this and loom forward to it every Christmas, the little Haribos think it's really exciting to buy gifts for a family we've never met.

Ooooh posting this has filled me with Christmas spirit Grin

Binfullofgibletsonthe26th · 05/12/2012 10:47

There have been a few recipients posting who seem to feel a bit guilty about receiving, and not feeling deserving...

I'm sure I'm not the only person who will say this....don't.

I can't tell you how much pleasure and fun it's been to be a Secret Santa this year, the "givers" are having just as much fun as the receivers believe me!

DeckTheHallsWithBartimaeus · 05/12/2012 11:43

Totally agree binfull

I loved giving to my recipient! We have a very small family so I don't have many presents to buy but I love giving presents!

I have to admit to having searched for posts by my recipient and I couldn't think of a more deserving person!

Santa021 · 05/12/2012 12:54

MumsNetter 021, I posted your parcel yesterday recorded delivery and hopefully it should arrive today.

TwasTheDawnDeeforeXmas · 05/12/2012 13:11

I didn't see the give-y thread until the last minute, and the stupid work PC wouldn't let me register Blush

I must unhide the MN-stickeys.

StateofConfusion · 05/12/2012 15:56

MN183 here.

Thank you so much for the gifts for me and the dcs, I'm resisting the temptation to have a sneaky look --it may kill me-, its so exciting to know I have something to unwrap, and the dcs were very excited to put them under the tree. Dd is most impressed with the wrapping paper and has already told me and ds we must open them very carefully so she can keep it for her craft box Grin
Also a huge thank you to whoever nominated me, I've no idea why tbh but knowing I was thought of is absolutely lovely.

Thank you so much, the kindness of strangers is most humbling. And I'm blaming the pregnancy hormones for the fact it keeps making me blub :)

NagooHoHoHo · 05/12/2012 16:08

Maybe I should POAS? Xmas Wink

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/12/2012 17:02

MN050 3 boxes.

They arrived today, I literally couldn't believe by eyes when I saw what was in them all. You have been more than generous, ds was VERY excited about the choc and flumps are his fav!
All the toys on the gift lists you made all sound perfect and I can't wait for them to be opened on the day. I'm very much looking forward to opening my gifts too. This year has been quite tough financially and we could never have done this on our own so you really have made our Christmas.

I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas and because of your loveliness we can too :)

MNer129 · 05/12/2012 18:29

Dear Norks,

Thank you so much for the box of thoughtful goodies that you sent to us. The presents for me were wrapped so prettily that it was almost a shame to open them, but I have and they are all fab - thank you. Love the decs too, especially the angel. Please don't tell my Mum that I've opened everything before Christmas though, or I'll be in trouble Wink

DD is two and will be fighting it out with MrK for the chocolate reindeer. We will also have lots of fun buying her something sparkly with her voucher. I will in future suggest that she cultivates a liking for gin and we'll raise a glass to you.

Sending Christmas wishes and smooches your way xx

Santa169and217 · 05/12/2012 18:32

YankNCock I am so glad they arrived and are ok. Feel free to rewrap if you want to check the titles etc :)

everybodysang · 05/12/2012 18:35

ooh I have finally just wrapped my parcel up to take to the post office tomorrow - I am so excited to go and post it! I wish I had been able to put more in it, if ever I end up with any lots of money I shall definitely be sending the best boxes ever...anyway, it was still loads of fun taking part.

RecipientMN007 · 05/12/2012 19:15

A huge thank you to my Secret Santa.

I wasn't going to accept my nomination but MNHQ sent a very persuasive email.
I don't know who nominated me but I was thrilled that someone would think of me.

I've had a truely horrible day so to arrive home to a lovely parcel containing lots of wrapped gifts and some very generous giftcards has really lifted my spirits.

Also, thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely Christmas message - unfortunatley despite the MN007 tag I don't have Daniel Craig lurking anywhere!

SantaMN050 · 05/12/2012 20:31

DesperateHousewife21 so glad all boxes arrived intact (sorry about the amount of selloptape you had to get through to get in them!). I enjoyed every minute of creating surprise parcels, and I'm glad you have gotten as much joy from receiving as I have from sending. Xmas Smile
