Mumsnet Christmas Appeal: the thank you thread

So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

Well I was nominated, and was very shocked, embarrassed and slightly teary.

I'm not at all in need financially, but I did accept. MNHQ made it clear it was about thanking people for support they've given, and also asked that nominations be accepted in the generous and appreciative spirit they were made.

So I did just that - I would have felt a bit ungracious not accepting tbh.

Anyway, just wanted to say much thanks to whoever nominated me, and if it's because I've helped you, I'm so glad, and hope it made a difference to whatever situation you were in.

Xmas Smile

I'm ever so curious as to who nominated me, I havent been here long although do post on a few boards frequently mostly about my mums illness before she passed away. Whoever you are you are lovely and have made a bleak time somewhat easier knowing we are thought of.

McPhee · 03/12/2012 22:17

I'm curious who nominated me too

RabbitsMakeGOLDBaubles · 03/12/2012 22:20

Don't worry, I'm secretly a ninja and I will find the spreadsheet for y'all.

(It's funnier when you can actually see the state of me McPhee, do they have ninja wheelchairs or what? Xmas Grin)

PeskyRat · 03/12/2012 23:13

What happens when a gift is bought, delivered to recipient (according to online delivery status) but no thanks if forthcoming on here?

Keep thinking it may have been posted through letterbox (vouchers) but not actually received IYKWIM?

I'm being impatient I know, but it's my first time donating and I'm itching to know it's all gone smoothly.

aristocat · 03/12/2012 23:24

Love love this time of year Smile Will be posting my parcel later this week too ......

BOFingSanta · 03/12/2012 23:29

I wouldn't worry, Pesky- if they're anything like me they don't open post for days. Hopefully you'll get some news soon.

MNSantaRecipient031 · 03/12/2012 23:39

I am so honoured to be thought of and to receive a nomination.
Thank you so much to MNSanta031 for the vouchers which will certainly put a shiny spin on what might be a strange and sad Christmas for this household.
Your generosity is overwhelming and I shed tears of just pure emotion when I opened the envelope and saw them. This has totally made our Christmas.
Words are really not enough. I hope your Christmas will be delightful.
Thank you, with tears and snuffly hugs.

MerryLindor · 03/12/2012 23:53

Madsometimes made me cry. What a lovely gift

SantaMN191 · 04/12/2012 00:24

I need to just leave a message for the soon to be recipient M191.

I posted to something to you today. And I forgot to add in receipts that you need. So I only had a teeny tiny christmas card left in my bag (I was about to get on a plane - so trying to post before I left.)

Anyhow, I put the receipts in this tiny card, wrote your address on it in tiny fairy writing and posted it along with the main envelope. But I forgot to write anything in it. So if you get it first, it looks like I have sent you a folded receipt with no explanation. Blush

I really hope they both arrive at the same time.....the other has a note in it, I promise!

Let's not even broach the subject of me posting the remaining book of stamps and my boarding pass in the post box also....

I really am a complete and utter boob! Can I be excused for having to get up at 5am.

PeskyRatInASantaHat · 04/12/2012 00:29

Thanks BOF.

I know you're right of course.

I've just got to get me some patience!

Santa169and217 · 04/12/2012 00:30

MN169 & MN217

Posted your parcels today by Royal Mail.

SelotapeInMyHairExtensions · 04/12/2012 00:36

Yo
u posted your boarding pass? Sorry but Grin (thats the sort of thing I do)

SantaMN191 · 04/12/2012 00:52

Yep, and the rest of my Christmas stamps. 10 minutes after mail collection.

And it was a fancy post box with a clear back??!! So it lay there mocking me.

Thank goodness for understanding ground staff!

TantrumsAndBalloons · 04/12/2012 06:26

Ok, quick question.

I've bought my gift and am about to post it today. But... I bought for the actual mumsnetter. And now I've read the thread I feel a bit bad I didn't buy for her DCs as well.

Do you think it would be ok to just send an amazon voucher for the DCs to share? It will only be for £10 though, what do you think?

Rachel130690 · 04/12/2012 06:35

Can't believe you posted your boarding pass. That will be a strange one to receive :)

This is truly amazing.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 04/12/2012 07:39

Right, presents are wrapped, I just need a box to put them in then its off to the post office. Hope my recipient likes them, though feel bad it's mainly for her DD. Was going to get a supermarket voucher but my stalking showed that her nearest one doesn't have a store in my town. Feel I should get something more for the MNer.

EllenJaneisstillnotmyname · 04/12/2012 08:17

Don't worry if you don't get a thank-you. It took me a few days to find this thread. I'd forgotten or never knew there was a thank-you thread, so your recipient may just be hopeless but grateful, like me! Blush

CuriosityCola · 04/12/2012 08:35

tantrums I'm really worried about this as well. My mumsnetter has put in special requirements that she has a number of children...babies and older...two are adult. I need the confused emoticon back. It makes the voucher I bought seen a little rubbish if it is split by the number of people given (5+), but I can't afford to buy that many people. Am I going to ruin someone's Christmas treat?

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 04/12/2012 09:45

Of course you won't curiosity, you silly sausage! You aren't laying on Christmas single-handedly for the recipient, just sending them something to make them smile :)

jetstar · 04/12/2012 10:45

Lovely thread Xmas Grin

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 04/12/2012 10:54

CuriousityI can't afford much either, but I am thinking if its sent with love and good spirits and received in the same way, then that will always be enough.

santarecepient031 I don't know anything about you, but your thank you was so full of honest emotion that I welled up and am a bit blubbery now. Alone in the house except for the dog who is looking at me like this Xmas Confused you captured the spirit of the appeal in your post, a very happy Christmas to you and yours.

Right off to try to find a box to send to my recipient!!

CheeseandGherkins · 04/12/2012 10:56

Thank you very much to my donor, the number is MN034, the parcel arrived about 15 minutes ago :). I've given the lovely advent calendar to ds2 to open the doors as, oddly, he is off school sick today with his asthma so it really cheered him up. It's really made my day, so thank you very much. Christmas time is always difficult for us now after losing Scarlett 2 years ago, she was born 2 years ago on Thursday and so this has come at a very good time.

Thank you to whoever nominated me too, such a lovely thing to do.
