I've been asked by RebeccaMumsnet to start this thread. Smile

A big thanks to all at MNHQ for arranging this. You little stars!

When posting thanks, please give the Santa number that should be on your gift so that people can see that their gifts have arrived. Many thanks.

My Thanks :
A parcel from a very generous Santa has arrived: a wonderful Playmobil advent calendar to get our family in the mood for Christmas. I think I'm probably more excited about it than my boys Grin.
Thank you so much to the lovely person who nominated me - I am deeply, deeply touched by your kind thoughts.
And thank you so very much to my lovely Santa638. We will all enjoy your gift enormously: a perfect choice Smile. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and a peaceful and loving 2012. Thanks

Yes, Jj and blackeyed, that is absolutely what I was trying to say - that I was worried that my offer wasn't enough and that it might have been lost. That's all.

Funny how the poster who decided to slate me for saying I "carted" the parcel hasn't been back to argue that I did or didn't after I described the reality of my life with my wheelchair-bound child.

Thank you.

JaquelineHydesNominator · 10/12/2011 23:59

Oh and a John Lewis voucher would be lovely Smile

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 11/12/2011 00:05

see now I'm wondering...............I'm not sure if I actually did say thank you for the games and the jacket 2yrs ago Xmas Blush. If you were the lovely MNer that sent me 7 huge individually wrapped parcels and the likes of snakes and ladders, a massive scalextric (sp) and others - then ermmm a very belated thank you.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 11/12/2011 00:10

and another thing I've just thought of - if they've got MN set up to hide stickies, and they've not been around in previous years and seen the thank you thread they may not even realise this thread exists........I wonder (bit late for this year probably but maybe for future years MNHQ?) if it would be worth either including something in the "you've been nominated email" or sending another out later to just let people know there is/there will be a thread and (roughly) where thehy would find it

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 11/12/2011 00:12

FAQing hell Grin don't mind me. Your video was bloody lovely and even if it had been a, "thanks, it has arrived" then good.

I won't do this again and will give (even) more to Women's Aid in future.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 11/12/2011 00:15
  • do I know you .......I feel I should.........
WinterWonderlandIsComing · 11/12/2011 00:23

I'm just a MNer since 2005 despite what profile says (flounced and de-regged) and fellow piano / organ keyboard musician is all. Good to see you posting again!

You honestly wouldn't know me. I hardly know myself given all my name-changes but I tend to do it every month or so.

Santa12316 · 11/12/2011 00:55

Susan, (blackeyed) you are v welcome, but now I know who you are, I hope the jigsaw isn't too young for your dd. Theres actually one more parcel coming, via royal mail, posted fri eve with one or two stocking bits. I'm glad you were nominated, as you have had a rubbish year but despite that you always come up smiling. Xmas Smile

LottieJenkins · 11/12/2011 08:43

I can understand Winter's worries.

Winter - as a postie's wife, I can promise you that it is manic right now, and there's every chance that your packet has been held up somewhere.
It's a shame you didn't keep the tracking number, because then at least you could see if it had arrived safely, as you say.
It's most likely in a Caller's Office waiting to be collected.
Please don't let it put you off. (as you know, there are probably myriad reasons why they haven't confirmed it's arrived - as Baroque says, they might not even know about this thread, and be wondering how on earth to thank the donor)

Mogs0YouStar · 11/12/2011 10:42

Creeping in here to say a massive thank you to Mogs0 :) I was very surprised to be nominated tbh, I've been here yonks and never really understood what the secret santa was all about, but I had an appaling time this summer and knowing that someone thought to nominate me meant so much. But knowing that you then went out and bought presents for my children, and such a generous gift card (I didn't even know that these existed, what a FAB idea) meant the world to me when it arrived yesterday. Thank you thank you thank you. I really hope I can give back to someone who really needs it next year. Merry Christmas to you Mogs0, I'll be raising my non alcoholic wine to you on Christmas day :)

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 11/12/2011 11:12

Thanks nickelbabe! I'm hoping to get my initial post withdrawn as I'm horrified how it came across. It is too detailed anyway.

Thanks11151 · 11/12/2011 13:05

Big thank you to 11151 for the voucher that has just been delieverd.

Appolgies if you were worried as it was accidentally delivered next door and the owners daughter has just brought it round when they checked the property.

Wishing you a merry christmas and a healthy happy 2012.

Like others have said didn't really realise the impact of the secret santa, but having experienced it first hand this year it is definetly one of the best aspects of mn and I hope to contribute next year.

smokinaces · 11/12/2011 13:12

Everyday I read this thread and well up. Its beautiful.

and winter not all of us that donated are very well off either, and sent very small bits. My SS recipient got 3 small presents and some festive food, but all done on a small budget as I dont have much myself - but wanted to treat someone else, as I know what it is like to be broke and with nothing to open on Christmas Day. The small things mean just as much as the very expensive vouchers, please be assured of that. An £18 lego toy in this house would be a main present - my two have £15 scooters for their Christmas presents this year, alongwith a 2nd hand DS that a friend kindly gave us for nothing.

mogs0 · 11/12/2011 14:28

Mogs0YouStar - I'm glad your parcel arrived and you are very welcome!! It's my first time doing the SS and I didn't really know what to put in or whether to wrap the things etc so I'm thrilled it's all ok Smile.

Merry Christmas!

SecretSanta4030 · 11/12/2011 14:45

LimeJellyforBrains you are so welcome - I just wish I had been able to send more. I know Christmas is hard for so many people for lots of different reasons so I hope it helps to know that you are in our thoughts Smile
I hope you don't mind that I didn't wrap them, but I thought you would know which was most appropriate for your boys. And do enjoy the chocs! Smile

BTW, that art college is now a school which my dd attends Smile, we've not lived here long though so I didn't know it used to be an art college. Small world though eh?

Have a fantastic Christmas xxx

Mary. Ads not allowed here. I have reported you.

Marylincoln · 11/12/2011 18:25

Thanks a lot Norma.

PurplePidjInAPearTree · 11/12/2011 18:32

I'm still checking to see if one of the parcels I sent arrived (I offered three small gifts, either to three separate people or all three to the same place. Two have posted upthread)

I assume that the recipient either hasn't got reliable internet access, doesn't know about the thread, or it hasn't arrived in which case I hope they let MNHQ know and I will send another Smile

NormaStanleyFletcher · 11/12/2011 18:35

My pleasure.

Glad to see you don't dispute it was an an ad.

And really, out of the whole of MN, this is really not the place

Dysgu · 11/12/2011 18:42

Does anyone know if there is any way I can check if a parcel has arrived - I only used regular post with Royal Mail but it was a week ago and I am doubting now whether we packaged the box well enough and perhaps it all fell apart?

I appreciate that people may not have the time or amenities to come and say something has arrived - that is not why I offered a donation - but now I am worried that someone who was expecting something will not actually have got something IYSWIM!

OTOH I think I know who the recipient was and, if I am correct, then they were posting on a thread yesterday morning (but it feels VERY rude to send a PM - whether I am right or wrong!)

So, can I track a normal parcel - I have the receipt - does anyone know?

SecretSanta1016 · 11/12/2011 19:14

BlackeyedSanta thanks for the thanks! Glad you got 2 parcels and DS card not too embarrassing :) Should've said the wrapped things are both books so if cars too boyish for DD could give both books to her x

Hope you and children have a lovely Christmas x

LimeJellyforBrains · 11/12/2011 19:48

Secret Santa 4030 More??? No, what you sent was plenty and wonderful. And it is the thought that is very definitely the important thing for me Smile. Quite right about not wrapping - am intending to 'swap the ages' to suit them better.

Thank you so very much x
