I've been asked by RebeccaMumsnet to start this thread. Smile

A big thanks to all at MNHQ for arranging this. You little stars!

When posting thanks, please give the Santa number that should be on your gift so that people can see that their gifts have arrived. Many thanks.

My Thanks :
A parcel from a very generous Santa has arrived: a wonderful Playmobil advent calendar to get our family in the mood for Christmas. I think I'm probably more excited about it than my boys Grin.
Thank you so much to the lovely person who nominated me - I am deeply, deeply touched by your kind thoughts.
And thank you so very much to my lovely Santa638. We will all enjoy your gift enormously: a perfect choice Smile. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and a peaceful and loving 2012. Thanks

WinterWonderland - you sound pissed off?

You 'carted' it to the post office, paid a tenner to send it. Over a week ago.

Passive aggressive, much?

Are you annoyed you haven't had a thank you yet by any chance? Hmm

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 22:55

Winter - it doesn't matter the value of your gift. Xmas Smile (or whether it was opened/brand new) Best thing I got last year was some nice wrapping paper - I was most impressed it had grid lines on it to cut it easier and it didn't rip when I wrapped my presents...........that was a luxury to me!!! (and I was somewhat Xmas Blush when my RL friends told me that most wrapping paper had grid lines on it these days........only the cheap stuff that didn't Xmas Grin)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 22:58

oh and whoever sent me the jacket the year before (I confess although I think I thanked people that year I had kind of 'forgotten' that I'd got stuff, a )because for one reason or another I got mine in the New Year instead of Christmas, and b) as my life was upside down at the time). I'm still wearing it - think as it's a green aged 13yrs one it was actually for a DS........but they're still not big enough for it yet so it's seeing me through my 3rd winter Xmas Smile

ElfsRUs · 10/12/2011 23:01

Maybe they weren't in when it was delivered and are waiting for a chance to go to collect from the sorting office, Winter? Hmm

You seem to be implying that your recipient is ungrateful, without considering many possible scenarios which might mean they might not have even received it yet.

But hey, well done you for carting it all to the PO and spending a tenner to send it.

Pat on the back for you.

(That's what you were looking for, wasn't it?)

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:04

'tis not worth it,

'tis the season to be jolly, tra la la la laaa la la la laaaaaaaaaa

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:25

testing

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:26

Okay...

I've bought my match John Lewis vouchers and am worried that somethng like Tesco would be more useful. If you were recipient would you be pissed off?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:26

yep it works BitWorriedSecretSanta Xmas Grin

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 10/12/2011 23:26

Elfs I did think that perhaps the person was working and perhaps with small children and difficult to fetch the parcel from the post office.

I emailed HQ and have had nothing in response. I am stupid for not keeping the recorded delivery receipt.

And it is not about a pat on the back.

I did walk to the PO forty minutes away, as I don't drive, whilst pushing my disabled son in his special chair with the package on my shoulder. I think that counts as "carting it"

Bet that wasn't what you expected when you made your horrible presumptuous post was it?

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:27

tee hee

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:30

perhaps MNHQ are awaiting an email back? No everyone has consistent internet access or even internet access at home so it could be the person you've sent it to hasn't yet been able to get on to say thank you/check emails. Or maybe something has kicked off in their real life which means that they haven't been online. Or maybe they're away? There's all manner of reasons why they may not have been on to say thank you yet Xmas Smile

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:31

psst why are you worried??

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:32

I'm worried that if you're in a crappy position, ie fallen on hard times, john Lewis is half as useful as Tesco.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:34

ahhh but sometimes if you've fallen on hard times a little treat from somewhere like John Lewis does just as good for the soul as a Roast Chicken and Gravy Xmas Grin

KnickersOnOnesHead · 10/12/2011 23:36

I think I'd just be chuffed that I had been thought of Worried :)

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:36

Brilliant....I am really pleased to hear that!! Plus Waitrose can offer piggin' good value.

I received MN gifts last year and I cried with joy everytime I thought about it, I am so pleased to be in a position to offer something back. I only hope that it brings even one tenth of the joy it brought me and my family.

SecretSantaBitWorried · 10/12/2011 23:37

I'm namechanging back. Love y'all.

xxxx

blackeyedsanta · 10/12/2011 23:37

1016 thankyou. the post was on the doorstep (top floor flat, locked foyer) when I got home after a rather weepy rock bottom day yesterday. ds2's card was lovely and glittery! dd will love the books and ds still loves cars (well anything with wheels on really) dd still likes cars too. I am back off into town to spend the gift card too. Smile

even more of a surprise to be woken at 9 .50 this morning Blush (after a sleepless night and getting up to strip a wet bed and wet child) by another parcel. 12316 thankyou for the jigsaw, gup e and cars. the book also arrived later through the letter box by royal mail.

thankyou! yesterday was the final straw after 3 weeks of ill children and ill me (colds, earache and vomitting Envy ) a resurgence of the toddler diarrhoea, a water infection and leaky child on top of the general single parenting and exhaustion of the end of term. the thought of the parcels has kept me going all day. the fact that someone cares when sometimes it feels no-one does. the I am glad to be alive and have survived (dv) and lived to tell the tale is coming back again today after a week of it's not fair having to clean up after sick children (and mummy) and having been left with traumatised children to pick up the pieces for.

thankyou again Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 10/12/2011 23:38

I nominated two people at the last minute who have had absolutely SHITE things happen to them recently. I'm really pleased that they have parcels. Pleased because I was instrumental even if I couldn't financially contribute.

I am very pleased about that.

It's such a shame that some people passively aggressively twist concerned posts on a generally positive thread like this. Tsk.

JjandtheBean · 10/12/2011 23:39

John lewis would be a lovely treat, but I'd check that either there was a store nearby or that they could be used online.

JjandtheBean · 10/12/2011 23:43

Personally I see winters pov, I hope next year I'm in a posistion to donate, and I'd be somewhat disheartened to go to the effort and even more so in winters recent post, and hear nothing, no gushing words necessary just a quick it arrived thank you.

blackeyedsanta · 10/12/2011 23:43

winter, a lego toy worth £18 is a lot to some of us. to be thought of is wonderful in itself.

don't panic. they may not have got round to delivery yet as it is busy. hope you hear soon!

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 10/12/2011 23:57

yes but JJandtheBean what I'm saying is that some people who are nominated may not even have internet access at home. They may be ill, their child may be ill, it may not even have arrived (yet).

Most years there are a small minority who never come on to say thank you, there are some that take weeks to come on (see above reasons to name just a few), there are some that will be able to jump straight on and say thank you.

I'm sure there are - with so many parcels/gifts - some which sadly never arrive at their intended destination too.

and agree with blackeyedsanta - a £18 lego toy would be the star of the show in this house for my boys.

JaquelineHydesNominator · 10/12/2011 23:57

Wimter, are you sure you haven't missed their post?

Only asking because last year I donated and got all worried that my gifts which I had ordered from two different places to go to one house had not go there. I had totally totally missed their post thanking me Blush. I eventually put a call out and was directed to the post made the previous Saturday.
