Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Just received my 2 elfs - cannot wait until December 1st.

Below are some ideas on where to put them.

More ideas.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 12/10/2011 13:03

Ok I'm getting obsessed with this thread,

Can't find the story online anywhere but my searching skills are --absolute shite-- a bit poor

WinterIsComing · 12/10/2011 13:11

So am I, Jj; so am I...

Next year, this thread will be searchable and will be the definitive, most often-linked Elf on the Shelf ideas thread on the entire internet. I have the utmost faith in my fellow obsessives Mumsnetters.

NoHunIntended · 12/10/2011 13:34

Wonderful links, tld. So adorable.

Should we steal condense the ideas into an easy list here?

Am getting so excited about all the mischief our elf will get up to!

Elf on the Shelf story being read on YouTube here. Not the best quality and quite annoying to watch at times but should give you all some ideas.

So pleased I got my EOTS now and relieved I'm not the only one ridiculously excited by the idea

winefairy · 12/10/2011 13:43

And can I add I love your last linked elf, NoHun. He's fabulous.

Also loving Pigley's creation and the little Waldorf one that tummytickler linked to.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 12/10/2011 13:56

Thank you wine :)

Were thinking of making some biscuits and having him make snow angels in flour on the side.

Party in the dolls house, we have some battery christmas lights, make some mini paper chairs etc

Love the green wee idea.

NoHunIntended · 12/10/2011 15:19

Isn't he a fabulous old elf! I can't decide whether EOTS should be old or young though. I prefer both of those to the one that comes with the book. I may yet wait til a Christmas Market and see what I can find there.

Snow angels in flour/icing sugar/glitter is a lovely idea.

MonsterBookOfHorrors · 12/10/2011 16:11

I love the old elf. :)

wahwahwah · 12/10/2011 16:14

He is Santas little snitch and reports back if the children misbehave. My sister sent ours over from the US.

We hide him around the place each night as he is very naughty - sometimes he climbs the christmas tree, empties the sugar bowl or sneaks some wine. We started this waaay to early last year and the 'escapades' got a bit lame towards the end ('oh look, he spent all night watching telly with a bowl of popcorn'.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 12/10/2011 17:53

As much as I adore the aurora one he is just too innocent for the high-jinks I'm thinking of. I'm getting the peppermint elves they're sweet, and a bit cheeky looking and they're only £11 for the pair delivered on ebay Grin

NoHunIntended · 12/10/2011 18:52

Yy, that is part of my reticence - Aurora isn't as cheeky as I'd like!

OP posts:
JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 12/10/2011 19:05

Wow that dad is annoying!

Am I the only --grumpy spoilsport-- strict parent who will stop reading if the kids arse around.

And wtaf is with saying zoooks every ten seconds...

And breath!

Still thanks for the link I have a rough idea what I'm doing now :)

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 13/10/2011 14:55

Any more elves arrived? Or been found?

I'm counting down to tomorrow when I can order mine Grin

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 13/10/2011 14:57

I also had a few ideas,

Nearer to christmas day have him appear with the recipe for reindeer food.

Also someone mentioned chocolate elves?? I'd love to get these and use him as an advent kind of£

NoHunIntenDEAD · 13/10/2011 18:56

Ooh, reindeer food recipe, that is a great idea, nice one!

Still not ordered mine yet, I am planning on going to Hyde Park for their Christmas Market/Fair, and see if I can find anything there, or think about making my own if I find some nice fabric, else, I think maybe the old elf, if they ship here, or that Gund Peppermint pair. Would be extra tempted to go for the pair if I had two children. What to do! What would Santa do???!

kennythekangaroo · 13/10/2011 23:00

We had this girl one.

She was called Holly and DD(4) still talks about her now!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 13/10/2011 23:06

I'm getting the peppermints as I have well will have by christmas a 4yo ds and 3yo dd, will have to be one each competition in this house unreal, and I also want them to be something they pass on to there own children.

I'm ordering mine tomorrow [hgrin]

pissedrightoff · 13/10/2011 23:23

I've ordered this...
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAGOON-GNOME-SWEET-GNOME-PLUSH-SOFT-TOY-VARIOUS-BNWT-/160660374743?pt=UK_Soft_Toys_Bears&var=&hash=item6b1c22d18b#ht_1646wt_932

The idea is he arrives on the 1st bringing the advent calendar, watches the children until 24th when he returns to the north pole but leaves behind the christmas eve hamper with all the goodies/pj's in it (providing they have been good of course)

pissedrightoff · 13/10/2011 23:24

Anyone want to name him for me?? Can't think of a suitable Elf name.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 13/10/2011 23:46

Im hoping --i will be telling-- the dcs will call ours Holly and Jolly

Twee, yes, cheesy yes, but tis the season to be jolly tra la la la la la la la laaa

startail · 14/10/2011 00:11

I did clowns as a party craft once. I'm sure they'd double as elves.
You need a miniature terracotta flower pot, some felt, paint, a pulp ball and some hotmelt glue.
Paint pot or cover it in felt. Turn flower pot upside down, stick ball on top for head add felt or sparkly paper cone for hat. Add arms, with semicircles for hands. Glue long legs inside front edge of pot. The trick is to get the arms the right length so that the hands just fold out either side and rest on the shelf when you put your pot down. Then they kind of look right sitting there.
