Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

DS was very excited to find his elf this morning but he was a bit disappointed that he didn't talk!

Leilandri · 01/12/2011 21:26

DS1 found 'Kringle' in his basket of treats, on the doorstep when we returned from nursery today. He was very excited, and at 30 months, I was suprised by how quickly he grasped the idea of the elf keeping an eye on him. We won't be doing mischief this year, as boys are too young, but I shall be writing everyones escapades down ready for next year! Grin
His basket contained: The elf, mini santa sack with letter passport and report card, 3 treeglobes with each boys name (+1 for my nephew) choc stars, activity book, cd of Xmas songs and stories, and Polar Express on DVD!!! Hmm

I have posted a pic of Elf in basket ready to be placed into porch, and afterwards safely sat on his shelf.

Tequila (I let DD1 name him this morning - he is named after one of my mum's dogs!) arrived overnight. He has spent the day on DD1's chair at the table although seems to have been exploring whilst we were all out as he left snowman lollies on the stairs for pudding and then a Maisy book in their beds for bedtime! They have been entranced - they are 5.3yo and 2.11 yo and have both got the idea of not touching him but they chat away to him already!

I have just printed his certificate and letter from Santa which he will bring back with him in the morning - when he will be found on the kitchen counter, clutching a spoon and having made a mess of getting himself a bowl of cereal!

Bernard is making his first appearance tonight

He is attached to a strip of tinsel and dangling off our mirror with the 2 playmobil advent calenders underneath him in a pile on the floor.

He also has "written" in his notebook saying who he is etc and the no touching rule and hopefully DC (6 & 3) will love him!!! Grin

pigleychez · 01/12/2011 22:23

Great to hear that the DC's are all loving the elves :)

Our elf is arriving on Sat. Thats when we will put the decorations up. Plus decided on this as we will have more time in the morning to sit and read the book etc instead of rushing about for the nursery run.

love hearing everyones ideas and elfy escapades!

Stealing the cereal idea, thank you! I put him at the table until DH reminded me of the no-touch rule. Don't want to tempt DS.

DD (11) has Been Told About Santa after endless questions and because she is at high school but she still half-believes. It's very sweet how excited she is about the (as yet unnamed) Elf Smile

minicorrect · 02/12/2011 08:07

Fenton (had to be topical) arrived overnight on Weds. DD1 came in at 5am to ask where he came from - he was sat on the bedside table with letter of intro from Santa, passport and report card. Showed her the story on you tube and then discovered the (homemade) advent activity calendar strung along the banister. She forgot the no touching rule and had a cry when I reminded her which made me feel bad but she's loving it and keeps asking to take photos. He is on her wooden train being towed from under the sofa by the little people garage man.
This is so much fun I think it's made the wait for Christmas Day more bearable!

pigleychez · 02/12/2011 22:55

Well tonight is the night that Elf arrives!

Santa has delivered a parcel tonight. All wrapped in brown paper with red ribbon and a big bow! The girls will love unwrapping it in the morning :) It will mark the beginning of Christmas as the tree and decorations wil also go up tomorrow.

We seriously need to keep this thread going to keep reminding me to move him though!! Its only day 2 of the Advent calendar and we forgot this mornings!

Dysgu · 02/12/2011 23:18

Our elf, Tequila (named by DD1!) is going to be found in the living room in the morning - playing in the DS!

The girls jumped out of bed this morning to hunt him down - then both had to stand at the kitchen counter (on chairs!) to eat their breakfasts with him. Whilst they were out at school/childminder's, he took himself into the living room and messed up everything on the mantel piece!

my dds walked into the living room to see the 2 gund elves sitting on a mini couch (from the dolls house!), sharing a bowl of popcorn in front of the TV! Kids amazed! The night before they were riding a reindeer chasing the my little pony horses! I love this!!

Definitely stealing the toilet roll idea!

Wow, you all have some great ideas! I was inspired by this thread to purchase an elf. DDs love him. He arrived in a suitcase on the 30th, I pretended to find the case on the doorstep.

Teens ^ that is brilliant! H won't crash the car for us though Xmas Sad

So far Elf Pepper has:

Muddled up the advent calendar and filled it with chocolate, plus put those silver curly ribbons everywhere.

Drawn a huge picture of Santa on the mirror with my lipstick Xmas Shock and turned all the things on the mantlepiece upside down.

Last night I almost forgot- oops- so had to run down and set up a midnight feast with the elf and other toys- I put bun wrappers on a plate (added a few crumbs) and gave them blue drinks, plus sprinked hundreds and thousands and silver balls around the table. Oh and a candle to make it look like a birthday party.

DDs have been amazed every morning so far Xmas Grin

glitch · 03/12/2011 12:54

After yesterdays mischief of the elf wrapping the TV in loo roll he was found sliding down the bannister today Grin.

Loving everyone posting updates, keep them coming as it gives me more ideas for ours.

so what are your elves getting up to tonight then?

HoHoHoFunIntended · 03/12/2011 21:36

Thanks, teens, great work. How lovely.

I thought you were telling me I had pms! I thought no, I am always this stroppy! :)

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 03/12/2011 21:37

I'm not sure if I want my Elf to be too naughty. Hardly setting a good example is it? Do as I say; not as I do etc or is that the point, that Elf is naughty in place of the DC?

May be over-thinking this but because DS is autistic and gets hysterical phased when rules are unclear I might have to have the Most Boring Elf In History and get him to model good behaviour with just a touch of mischief.

He will be found brushing his teeth tomorrow Xmas Grin but he can still do a lot of things - especially the lavatory / green wee thing.

Dysgu · 03/12/2011 22:09

I am not sure what our elf is going to get up to overnight - but would love to read your blog teens for some ideas maybe.

We put the tree up today (well, DP and DDs did) and then we went to visit my parents. When we got home, both DDs shrieked on entering the room - the elf was climbing the tree! Cue to little girls dashing back out to me - was still unloading the car - "mum, mum, come and see what Tequila's up to now!"

Grin
