Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

tld, can you link to it on prezzybox please - I don't seem to be able to find it on there.

I think I'd get one for each child. I think I'd have liked the idea still at 10.

Prezzybox Elf

It's the same one as I've ordered from Amazon but looks to be out of stock on Prezzybox at the moment.

twolittledarlings · 09/10/2011 12:08

Thank you Sunshine - did not notice the out of stock details.

Have now ordered 2 from Amazon and the good thing was that postage was only £5 and not 2 lots of £4.50.

Hope it works for my 8 yr old dd. My dd 10 year old is very good but the 8 yr old dd can sometimes be moody. Alas, cannot buy for one and not the other.

SunshineOnARainyDay · 09/10/2011 16:36

tld I've only ordered one - couldn't afford another, so I'm hoping that DD and DS will share. Although apparently in the story book that comes with the elf it says that the children are not supposed to touch the elf or he may lose his magic, so at least that will stop them fighting over who gets to hold him!

NoHunIntended · 09/10/2011 17:02

Thanks for the link. I think we will go for the soft fabric one, unless someone finds me another one!

Gosh. Have an email from Amazon that the 2 dolls have been despatched already. That's quick work and on a Sunday too.

Apparently, they come in 2 colours, dark or light skinned. The Amazon ones sent from The House of Portia are light skinned ones.

SunshineOnARainyDay · 10/10/2011 11:43

I had the email too to say mine has been dispatched. Just did the tracking think on Interlink Express and it was down yesterday as next day delivery so may be here today!

MackerelOfFact · 10/10/2011 14:42

What a lovely idea! I like these elves - boy and girl. (I assume anyway).

KinkyDorito · 10/10/2011 16:01

I'm sorry. I searched Amazon for 'Christmas Elf' and had to share one of the results. Anyone's DC going to a costume party? Apparently this is a Christmas Elf costume:

www.amazon.co.uk/Christmas-Outfit-Childrens-Costume-Parties/dp/B005ARC66Y/ref=sr_1_42?ie=UTF8&qid=1318258729&sr=8-42

Confused
SunshineOnARainyDay · 10/10/2011 16:54

I'd seen those mackerel and agree they look cute. They were my second choice.

Funny looking elf kinkydorito !

NoHunIntended · 10/10/2011 17:28

Mack, I like those a lot - they are on Amazon too, and come as a pair, so if you are buying both, they work out slightly cheaper: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005OIT5TK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ALWV5W1DGU0FF.

I think I prefer the Aurora one, but I am still holding out a little while longer in case a more ace elf turns up!

Kinky, odd, very odd!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 10/10/2011 17:39

Ooh if only aurora one was available as a boy and girl, think I may jump ship to macks find...

Oh thanks for the link nohun deffinalty gonna get them now :)

Pigleychez · 10/10/2011 18:23

What an appropriate thread! I just found out about this today from Pinterest and love the whole idea.

Agree that the Elf isn't the most attractive but I like the idea of the bendy arms and legs. I've literally just started to have a go at making one myself so I'll let you know how I get on. It is a bit expensive too.
Cant wait to start planning all the different places he can hide and naughty things he can get up to!

WinterIsComing · 10/10/2011 19:08

Grin at the Old Testament Prophet "Elf"!

NoHunIntended · 10/10/2011 19:56

My pleasure, Jj.

Pigley, I am tempted to attempt making one too. Would you start from scratch, or buy some sort of plain doll and just make/find the outfit? Any tips welcome.

We did this for the first time last year, dc are 10,7 and 1. It was a complete success and way more fun than the avert calendar, they loved him to bits.

I picked up naughty Nick from a local wi market, a lady had knitted him and he is so lovely. I am sure she used a pattern and he has a turned up nose and Xmas pud belly! He arrived on the first and went home with Santa on Xmas eve. Every night he got up to some mischief, green wee in the loo etc. This yr he is bringing his lovely lady friend with him. I can't wait, they will go mad for it!

I even have cadburys popping choc elves for them to fill the calendars with every night. The whole thing is a big hit here!! I just need a name for the lady elf now.....

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 10/10/2011 22:51

This year ours will also be found in the drivers seat of my car with it parked across the drive and slightly crashed in to the hedge! Snow angels on the floor in icing sugar was good last yr, and they loved it when he turned up at grandma's house, warming his bum on her aga. Ds still goes on about it now.

I am stupidly excited about our elves.....

SunshineOnARainyDay · 11/10/2011 10:26

Ours has just arrived from Amazon today! He looks lovely, can't wait for the 1st December and to read DD and DS the story that comes with it.

smug you've given me some good ideas there - especially love the green wee in the loo Grin

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 11/10/2011 10:29

smug they're brilliant ideas, I have to get elves now. My two will only be 3 and 4 so limited humour, although toilet and underwear humour seems a good one, maybe elves dressing up in mine and daddys underwear? Hanging from a lampshade, playing on the wii... I can see myself getting carried away here.

Haribojoe · 11/10/2011 10:45

My elf has just arrived, can't open it to have a look though due to "little eyes" will have to wait till nap time!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 11/10/2011 10:53

Oh haribo how exciting!

I've found a girl aurora one on ebay (stupid app won't let me link though) I think she's a bit to 'mrs christmas' for me though so I'm sticking with the peppermint elves, but seeing as they aren't with a book I'm going to make my own as I want the pictures to be of our elves iyswim, but I don't know where to start?

Pigleychez · 11/10/2011 11:59

NoHun- Ive uploaded a photo of my elf so far onto my profile. Its not great and just something I was playing about with last night.

He needs more detail on him... elf shoes, belt, pom pom on his hat etc.

My gut reaction is he's abit shit! and that ill end up buying a real one anyway! But I will finish him off before I do.

Jj- My girls are only 3.2 and 16 mths so too will only have to basic stuff. But im storing all these ideas for when they get older. :)

SunshineOnARainyDay · 11/10/2011 12:08

pigley the one you've made is good! Yours girls will love him. Mine doesn't have a belt, pom pom on his hat or shoes.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 11/10/2011 12:18

Pigley I love your elf! Very cute!!

Also the pictures of your girls are so very beautiful :)

WinterIsComing · 11/10/2011 12:55

He's lovely, Pigley, as are all your pictures.

Keep the ideas coming please, I'm useless. I'll either lose him or he'll get left behind on Christmas Eve and end up being discovered slumped face first in "Santa's" vodka and tonic Blush

Actually I could have him sitting down next to a finished bowl of cereal of plate of toast crumbs one morning.
