Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Ooh, WAC, exciting! Has your elf got a name yet?
Thanks re info on the American styling re the book. Hope you can still get enjoyment out of it for your DS.

Nice idea, Blathers!

Sillyoldelf, hope you let us know what you find.

Didn't win the Lottery tonight, so no £185 elf for me this week!

My Elf was rubbish at last night's lottery as well!

I'm sure the book will be great and thank you. We're going to have DS choose a name from a list of suggestions or he'll end up being called Teacher Susan or Daddy Grin

can I join this thread???

I have just bought a hand knitted elf (called bernard) on ebay.

My DC are 6 + 3, am looking for some good ideas of what to do with it!!!

I think Bernard is going to magically appear on 1st December having delivered advent calenders. Letters to Santa will have been left out the night before which Bernard will have "delivered" Grin

WitchesAreComing · 24/10/2011 00:16

Of course you can join! I would love to see a picture of Bernard Smile and that's a lovely name.

I bought advent calendars today. Strangely, the only place I can buy old-stylee ones with nativity scenes, glitter and NO CHOCOLATE is in the sodding shopping mall from a stand selling horrible calendars. Six of your English pounds each!

But I hate the fact that the character-themed Ben Ten and Barbie ones have that piece of plastic in front of the picture inside (for the chocolate) so you can't see it properly and get no joy. As well as having nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas other than being a huge advert.

simpson · 24/10/2011 00:19

unfortunately I have had to cough up for playmobil ones as DD is severely intolerant to dairy and soya Sad

Not great at links but will give it a go Grin He was a bargain at £3 Grin Grin

NoHunIntended · 24/10/2011 01:10

Ah, Witches, maybe we'll win the Lottery this week!
Sue is a nice elf name!

Hello, simpson, great to have you on board. I've been collecting ideas for what to do with an elf on pinterest.com/ - if you type in Elf On The Shelf in the search field, lots of photos for ideas and inspiration come up. Or just Google images. Here is a link to my page on there: Elf Escapades - hope you can see the board I've started for elf ideas.
£3 is a Bernard bargain! Wow!

I bought a wooden advent calendar last year to re-use year after year, we don't do dairy in this house either, so I get to fill the boxes with treats of my choice. Much better, and no character-themed tack.

I bought a nice plush elf from the U.S. amazon and a brown felt bag from the crysal shop. He is going to deliver the kids advent presents on Dec 1st. I bought sticker advent calendars this year so I can pop the stickers in Elf's bag every day. I love this idea and my kids love a treasure hunt, this is going to be so much fun! Grin

NoHunIntended · 24/10/2011 17:20

PF, can you link to the one you got?

I love this idea too! Can you tell?! :)

BlondeBatgirl · 24/10/2011 20:12

so cute!

WitchesAreComing · 24/10/2011 20:16

LOL at the backpack and, "Andrew. I'm stuck" note Grin

Pinterest board is great too, NoHun!

BlondeBatgirl · 24/10/2011 20:24

Was anyone's dc scared of the elves??
It is a bit creepy if you think about it! A elf that comes to life at night and does naughty stuff and then watches you intensely through the day! Hmm

AlwaysRocking · 24/10/2011 20:34

I love this idea so much! Sadly I fear it may be a bit beyond 6mo dd this year, but considering buying one anyway to get some practise and keep myself amused! Grin

BlondeBatgirl · 24/10/2011 20:39

DO IT!!! Grin

AlwaysRocking · 24/10/2011 20:41

I'm already getting dd her own advent calendar and special Xmas eve sleepsuit, so I guess I may as well go all out!

WitchesAreComing · 24/10/2011 20:45

I'm quite scared of the song

Shock
WitchesAreComing · 24/10/2011 20:46

Oops - wrong link.

PlasticFlamingo · 25/10/2011 04:33

I got this one www.amazon.com/Plush-Santas-Secret-Elf-Boy/dp/B000LLJSDS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1319513324&sr=8-2
I have never done a link before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope it works......
It was delivered really quickly and he is lovely.Grin

BlondeBatgirl · 25/10/2011 10:17

Oooo dont like the song! Hmm
My elf came today. :)
He has no feet Hmm?????????

AlwaysRocking · 25/10/2011 11:08

I like that one plasticflamingo. Dolls freak me out if their faces are too 'real' so think it will have to be a fabric one for me Smile

WitchesAreComing · 25/10/2011 13:27

No feet? Shock

There needs to be some sort of magical explanation for that. A flying elf?

simpson · 25/10/2011 13:37

plasticflamingo - I think I have elf envy Grin Grin Bernard not arrived yet

Blondebatgirl - how are you going to explain the no feet thing??

BlondeBatgirl · 25/10/2011 14:06

I think im going to go on a hunt for a small pair of elf shoes Hmm /boots!
Otherwise im going to have to get a bit imaginative?? Any ideas?? Quite like the flying elf... but then i think ds will be expecting wings! Confused
