Hi

Those of you who do Elf on the Shelf - where did you get your elf from please? Links would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Wow the one I bought a couple of weeks ago for what I thought was a very expensive £25 is now £83 on Amazon!!! It must be a supply and demand thing - the power of mumsnet :-)

NoHunIntended · 16/11/2011 14:14

£83??? Which one is it? Crikey!

Housemum, have only got one DC, but hoping for another (or more!) and am thinking we will get them one each, so they can take the elf with them when they start their own families.

It's just the standard one with the fair skin tone here The one with dark skin tone is available for a measley £50 here

I have 4 DC and it's definitely one elf between all of them here (even at the old prices!!)

JeremyVile · 16/11/2011 14:40

I saw those Amazon ones too, couldnt believe the price!

But prezzybox have them back in stock. I ordered on monday, arrived yesterday. £25.

FreddoBaggyMac · 16/11/2011 14:40

If only the elf in the shelf had featured in the John Lewis advert, they'd be worth £000000000s by now Grin

FreddoBaggyMac · 16/11/2011 14:41

Prezzybox is showing them as sold out again now Jeremy - you must have got one of the last ones!

JeremyVile · 16/11/2011 14:43

Sorry, just checked, prezzybox sold out again!

If anyone is still planning to buy though, would be worth checking every day - they were sold out for a week when i first looked then had some in stock on monday.

Delivery very fast too, so still time to see if they re-stock.

NoHunIntended · 16/11/2011 14:45

Unbelievable!
Should have bought shares before I started this thread! :)

pigleychez · 16/11/2011 14:45

Jeremy- The email I got from Prezzybox this morning said

'Please accept our sincere apologies but we are not able to ship your order. This item has proven more popular globally than anticipated and our supplier of this item is not able to ship anymore to us before Christmas'.

JeremyVile · 16/11/2011 14:47

Oh no Sad

I was really lucky then, cos I hadd pretty much given up and only went on there on the off chance.

FreddoBaggyMac · 16/11/2011 14:47

You can still get them from ebay from US sellers - about £40 though I think which is really a rip off! For anyone who hasn't got one my advice would be buy another kind of elf and let your DC watch the reading of the story on youtube which was linked to earlier in this thread!

NoHunIntended · 16/11/2011 15:00

I am leaving it this year, DS has only turned one anyway, but for older DC, you could have cheeky things happen (e.g. turn photos upside down, green 'wee' in the toilet, underpants on the Christmas tree), and make out that the elf is too shy to be seen this Christmas, but may come out and make themselves visible next year, if they are good for the rest of the year!

For anyone who didn't get an EOTS one, the link to organized Christmas (with a z, it's American) had some great free letters to print for your magic elf to say he's cone from Father Christmas, so any cute elf will do (and be more original). Can't do a link at the moment but it's earlier on this thread Smile

ElfBazaar · 16/11/2011 18:02

Hi guys!
I have Elf Bazaar, the Shop from Wales that has sold out of them today (thankyou!).
I have called the suppliers in the USA and they are going to let me know first thing in the morning if we can have some more (they seemed 90% sure we can).
I had them on my website at £19.99 which in my opinion is all these big companies should be selling them for. I may have to pay a higher rate for them so I can get them within 3/4 days so I would be able to sell them for £24.99.
Those of you who purchased them from me before 2.00 pm have been shipped out tonight!
I will post on here tomorrow as soon as I know, We are a small family run shop who dont understand why the big traders push up their prices, but i guess thats why they are big shops and we are little!

housemum · 16/11/2011 18:52

Thank you Elf Bazaar! (And welcome to the mad world of Mumsnet...)

Dosey · 16/11/2011 19:53

Thank you elf bazaar I was about to post on her about your shop since I spoke to you today over the telephone after buying your last one.
You were so kind and friendly. I really hope you get your supply and can sell at a decent and honest price. I will be recommending you to all my friends

Dysgu · 16/11/2011 20:33

I have just ordered the Pottery Barn one - they have a 50% off on shipping right now so the total price with tax and everything was just over £30. We are really looking forward to this - I am going to have to trawl through the thread again and make a note of all the adventures and pranks that our EotS can get up to next month. DD1 is 5 and will love it all. DD2 is 2 and will hopefully get the idea that she has to be really good if the Elf is watching her!
Now to wait for it to arrive! (I did pay the extra shipping - still 50% - to have him delivered within the next 9 days, just to make sure he makes it to the UK and then to our island in time for the start of December!)
I also figure that he will be working hard over the next few years so the money is something of an investment!

NoHunIntended · 16/11/2011 21:05

Hi, ElfBazaar, welcome to Mumsnet! Good luck with the store.

Dysgu, there is a thread dedicated to elf antics here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/1335634-Elfy-Escapades-Ideas-and-Inspiration-for-Hiding-and-Hi-Jinks-with-your-Elf-On-The-Shelf?msgid=28491396.

loueytb3 · 16/11/2011 21:56

I ordered one from here £25.99 and free delivery - it arrived the next day. It says they are still in stock if you are still trying to get hold of one.

housemum · 16/11/2011 22:13

Hope the book that comes with the elf is convincing - was suggesting to DD2 (8) that she needs to br careful how she behaves, Santa is watching and he might send one of his elves to check. She told me not to be stupid (at which point I thought, here we go the myth is busted) - "the elves make stuff it's the fairies that watch". What fricking fairies???? (off to check when Winchester Christmas market opens, there was a fairy gift stall there last year, elf might have to have s companion in crime...)

pigleychez · 16/11/2011 22:17

Ohh Housemum, A fairy girlfriend! Just think what they could get up to at night! Shock

housemum · 16/11/2011 22:27

X rated elfin shenanigans! Would go with the Bad Santa app that DH downloaded for his iPad that I told him should be deleted immediately as the kids use it! (basically a Santa that swears at random when you touch)

housemum · 16/11/2011 23:30

Fairies and elvesl for anyone looking for fairy goodies, scroll down and they have some cute elves, more mystical creature and fairylike than cute and cuddly, they will have a stall at Winchester Christmas market - I think it must be them I saw last year

winefairy · 17/11/2011 09:11

Wow! I can't believe the demand for EOTS! Thankfully I got mine months ago after reading a post about them from lechat on a Christmas traditions thread in August.

Which begs the question...why was I reading a Christmas thread in August?! Blush

pigleychez · 17/11/2011 13:38

This EOTS lark nearly cost me small fortune!! £426 to be precise!

In my panic to source another Elf yesterday I can across a Danish site that had some in stock. Thought id get one but when it got to there postage page it took it up to over £40 which I was prepared to pay, so cancelled my order. (So I though anyway!)
Then the site wouldn't let me close their page. A pop up saying stay on the site or close but the close didn't work. Kept pressing and geting frustrated. Managed eventually!

Anyway call from my bank just now to say they had blocked a few payments and wanted me to confirm it was me. 2 were but one was for £426 from this site! Im guessing everytime I was pressing the close button or something that it was adding more and more Elves to my basket! (Either that or its some dodgy site!)
Either way it almost cost me quite alot for a blinking toy elf! :)
