Secret Santa Thank You Thread

I have asked in Site Stuff where to put this with no reply, so if it's wrong can you move MN please? Thanks.

Yesterday I received a gorgeous pack of coasters that we can put pictures in, and a box from Amazon with toys including a Rubiks magic puzzle for my ds's.

I want to say a huge thank you to whichever person sent them. They are perfect and the feeling someone cares enough to have nominated and / or bought for us makes a difference. Two weeks ago we thought we were about to become homeless after a bloody rough year and although that has passed we're still feeling very shaken and it's so good to have some light out there. Christmas stands between now and our ds4 being seen at the Paediatrician's request (for those who don't know ds1 has asd, ds2 dyspraxia and ADD, ds3 asd) and this has given me the Christmas spirit I was missing.

Thank you, I wish you all a most wonderful of festive seasons.

Dear 2D

Thank you so very, very much for the vouchers - you are very generous! It is going to make a big difference to Christmas for DS - I shall be shopping online for definite this evening.

It is so touching that a complete stranger (and someone who appears to be in a totally different country) could do such a thing. It really is more appreciated than you know. Especially as things are extremely tight for us this year - it really will make a massive difference

Before I waffle on too much, I wish you and your family a wonderful, peaceful and love filled Christmas and New Year.

Xmas Smile

ps What a lovely boy, posting his thanks Shabba!

And Grin at him knowing we don't do txtspk Grin

waitingsanta · 07/12/2010 20:03

Ah - sorry, I think some people do have multiple donors matched with them.

Castille if you are in NW France then I think I am your SS! There should be a voucher each for DD's. Separate things should be arriving soon for DS and you Xmas Wink.

2DThankYouSoMuch · 07/12/2010 20:04

pps, for a nest of vipers, you're all pretty fabulous, y'know Grin

RebeccaMumsnet · 07/12/2010 20:04

Bibi 46D is your other match Xmas Grin

Lucy under the circumstances, you not too late, I am working on it.

Merry Christmas everyone

ItalianLady · 07/12/2010 20:08

But nominators won't know the code number of the person nominated.

BibiBelle · 07/12/2010 20:13

ooh Rebecca thank you Xmas Smile

46D - thank you thank you thank you Xmas Smile

Deemented · 07/12/2010 20:28

Where do i start??

Thank you so so much to the person that nominated me. I really didn't derserve it.. but thank you.

This morning i received three things addressed 'To the Mumsnetter of the house', and i am stunned, utterly utterly stunned at the generosity of both 81D and 67D. Thank you both so much... i can't begin to articulate what this means to me, to our family... Thank you just seems so inadequate. Sorry, not very good at trying to say what i mean, and am having a little sob as i type this Blush

81D - The vouchers are wonderful, and will come in so handy - DS2 has been hankering after a particular toy and now it's more obtainable for him - thank you, so so much.

67D - Your generosity has astounded me... that stunning handbag, DS2's books - which i know he'll love and i'm so looking forward to reading with him, DD's bubbles and puzzle, and DS3's POP jumpsuit... I can't thank you enough.

Thank you both for everything... i feel so humbled by your generosity.

HowsTheSerenity · 07/12/2010 20:29

Oh how nice to see Tom posting.

waitingsanta · 07/12/2010 20:31

Italianlady - they don't need to know the code, they nominated them so they will know their name!Xmas Grin

ItalianLady · 07/12/2010 20:35

Yes, but people are posting with their code as their name in some cases.

waitingsanta · 07/12/2010 20:45

I see what you mean - I guess in those cases you have to trust that Rebecca has matched every nominee with a donor who has delivered on their promise then? I suspect the admin involved in getting codes emailed to nominators would be hideous on top of everything else.

Deemented67DSanta · 07/12/2010 21:14

Hi Deemented,

I am so glad that you liked the presents - I am so sorry that nothing was wrapped! There is one more parcel to come for your older ds and your dd(courtesy of Amazon) So I hope they are ok too. I loved choosing for you all - a great combination of 'good excuse to buy', things I love (the POP suit just washes and wears forever) and despite sending them to your ds I loved frog and toad when I was a kid and I still have my copy ready to read to my ds. In fact the hardest part was spending the last 15 minutes trying to work out how to name change for this thread (not too bright emoticon)!

Best wishes for a peaceful and happy Christmas.

shabbapinkfrog · 07/12/2010 22:13

My DS4 - Tom - just said....

'I know I never met my two older brothers but I am so glad you are on Mumsnet and today is the first time I have seen you smile for ages and ages. Cant imagine what it has been like for you Mum - just wish I could have been 'part' of your four lads.'

He is part of them BUT, thankfully, he has never experienced our sad Christmases.

Glad you got pressies Deemented....I know we have never met but you feel like a good friend.

thank you xxx

Valpollicella · 07/12/2010 22:18

Shabba - can you tell Tom:

I think you are a very polite and thoughtful young man from what your mum has said about you, but also - good for you for posting your thanks. Have a great Xmas!

BrandyButterPie · 07/12/2010 22:26

I thought the references were the donor number? So, if you get a present with a number on, that is the number of the person who sent it.

Yep, that is definitely it :)

scarlotti · 07/12/2010 22:27

I have now looked at my vouchers again and I have found a code ... 52D ...
Whilst I am completely confused now as to which person is the nominator and which is the donor, I want to make sure I have covered all bases.

So a huge thank you to 52D and ScarlottiSanta for the vouchers which will indeed replace what DH took with him and make our Christmas very merry and bright.
I am indebted to you both xx

Valpollicella · 07/12/2010 22:32

Nominators are not identifiable Scarlotti...only donors. There aren't any references in the gifts.

Like someone said above, it would only add a whole new layer of organisational chaos to poor MNHQ

But, you can always just post a general thank you to your nominator - they will know you if they've nominated you, and if you thank them under your 'usual' name

maxmissie · 07/12/2010 22:37

Grizzly MacDuff glad the presents for your son and daughter are OK, wasn't sure what they would like so went on what I thought my kids would like who are similar ages! The vouchers are definitely for you, to spend on whatever you want!

Don't know what I did with the codes, went wrong somewhere but as long as they all got to you that's all that matters!

Hope you and your family have a happy Christmas! Xmas Smile

GrizzlyMacDuff · 07/12/2010 22:51

so, the donor does not know who they are buying for? in which case, how come some of the gifts are so well, perfect?!!! or is it just lucky guess work?

GrizzlyMacDuff · 07/12/2010 22:53

maxmissie not only ok, but great! thank you ever so much, its made my week, honestly it is such a great feeling to know people on the whole are good kind lovely people that give thought to others.

BrandyButterPie · 07/12/2010 22:56

Grizzly - all the donor gets is the address and the ages and genders of the kids, plus any special requirements. They also get told to address it to the mumsnetter of the house and to put their donor reference number somewhere on the package.

Valpollicella · 07/12/2010 23:04

And special requirements is usually if people/their DC have allergies/can't use bath stuff cos of eczema/SN etc

Not 'I would like a hamper from Harrods' Grin

GrizzlyMacDuff · 07/12/2010 23:13

So it is clearly good selections then!

Next year, when DH is in work again, I shall be reciprocating the good things done by our santas.

shabbapinkfrog · 07/12/2010 23:21

LOL - I asked for Robbie Williams - none of my lovely pressies are singing 'Angels' so I guess they couldn't fix it for me Grin Im too good for the Robmeister anyway!!!

Valpollicella · 08/12/2010 00:37

Ah sorry Shab...would have grabbed him the other week when I was > < that close to him if I'd known ;grin]
