Secret Santa Thank You Thread

I have asked in Site Stuff where to put this with no reply, so if it's wrong can you move MN please? Thanks.

Yesterday I received a gorgeous pack of coasters that we can put pictures in, and a box from Amazon with toys including a Rubiks magic puzzle for my ds's.

I want to say a huge thank you to whichever person sent them. They are perfect and the feeling someone cares enough to have nominated and / or bought for us makes a difference. Two weeks ago we thought we were about to become homeless after a bloody rough year and although that has passed we're still feeling very shaken and it's so good to have some light out there. Christmas stands between now and our ds4 being seen at the Paediatrician's request (for those who don't know ds1 has asd, ds2 dyspraxia and ADD, ds3 asd) and this has given me the Christmas spirit I was missing.

Thank you, I wish you all a most wonderful of festive seasons.

REF 69D

Oh My God, I received my envelope this morning, I opened it suspecting vouchers (had guessed it was MN after my nomination) and I thought "I wonder where they're from?" I was expecting a tenner at best. When I saw £100 of John Lewis vouchers I burst into tears, I am so grateful, and surprised, that anyone would think I'm worthy of such a gift. I've had a tough couple of years and I am so moved, beyond words, I cannot thank you enough for the vouchers. I promise that as soon as I'm in a better position I will be passing forward your kindness, it will not stop with me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
xxxxx

Everytime I look at the card I burst into tears.

22D - the mighty Tomster Grin has managed to get himself 3 CD's with the HMV voucher you sent him. He went into the shop and just ran around like a loon Grin We just got home now and he has reluctantly given them to me to send to Father Christmas until the big day!!! He gave me a look like this Hmm LOL.

He is way beyond happy - thank you again xx

You know I so love this thread, I keep popping back to read it and it makes me tearful and smiley all at the same time, well done again mumsnetters.

Deemented · 11/12/2010 15:41

I have to thank yet another fantastic MNer - 95D - thank you so so much for the wonderful books for DS2 and DD, and for the puzzle for DS3 - he will love it!! Thank you for being so generous and kind, and i wish you a yours a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Thank you Smile

Santa110D · 11/12/2010 16:19

Do you know, I have gotten such a kick out of being a donor.
I read somewhere (or maybe saw it on BBC breakfast), someone worked out how to have a happy Christmas. And your happiness percent goes up depending on how many presents you give, not on how many you receive.
Its starts at about 50% with one pressie.

I feel all christmassey. Xmas Grin

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 11/12/2010 16:25

Well thanks to my 2 wonderful secret santa's, in the knowledge that there are going to be plenty of "little thing" under the tree for the DS's to open and a stocking Xmas Grin I've been out this afternoon and not only bought the tree as planned, but new lights, and baubles, and a Christmas wreath for the door (proper holly too Xmas Grin). All the small things which I wouldn't have been able to get if I'd I'd had all the small bits to get for the DS's.

This is our first Christmas in this house, the first since the permanent split with exH, and at the end of a rocky year which has thankfully be going further on the "up" as the year as gone on.

Thanks to MN this really is going to be a Christmas to remember and the Christmas to beat all Christmasses I've had since I've had children Xmas Smile

Thank you so much secret santa's, and whoever nominated me (I still don't feel I deserve it though), and to MNHQ for organising.

shabbapinkfrog · 11/12/2010 16:40

Baroquin - sat here with blobby tears rolling down my face. Your post says it all. You are right - the only way IS UP

kuckingfunt · 11/12/2010 16:45

I love this thread, it really is MN at it's best. What a wonderful way to help put a smile on the faces of others at Christmas. It makes such a difference to people's lives.

I am already looking forward to donating next Christmas.

I heart MN Grin

LilRedWG · 11/12/2010 17:24

48D - thank you so much for my parcel, which arrived yesterday. The baby clothes are gorgeous - I'm particularly in love with the fluffy brown coat. Grin DD will adore the books, they'll be wrapped and put in her stocking this year. As for the game - I grew up playing that game with my darling Mum and Dad and can't wait to teach DD.

I've had a horrible couple of years and it had culminated in a few weeks of vile bad health. The arrival of a parcel marked for, "The Mumsnetter of the House", really brought a smile to my face.

I've still not figured out why I was nominated, but thank you both to my nominator and my Secret Santa - you are both lovely, kind, people. x

wewishyouamerrylissiemas · 11/12/2010 18:25

oh wow 43D - I've finally had a chance to creep upstairs and have a look at all the stuff in the box.

The spiral set - I kid you not - after I'd got what I thought was my only MN SS yesterday I sat down and ordered a few extra bits off Amazon for the DS's - to balance number of presents out (mathematically inclined 3yr olds are so annoying Xmas Grin). For about 1/2hr I had a Spiral art set in my basket - and then changed my mind at the last minute Xmas Shock

And Shrek - I know all 3 of the original Shrek moviees off by heart due to all 3 DS's loving it and watching them all so often. They will LOVE those magnets.

And Kipper - we used to have Hisssss and DS3 adored it.....but he went through an eating books stage and ate it Xmas Hmm) Now he has all 4 in the series.

Shuttlecocks - wow - I would never have thought of those!! DS3 and 2 have spent some of this evening trying to play tennis with an (admittedly soft) ball in the house. They can whack shuttlecocks around to their hearts content Xmas Grin

And all the other bits too. Just fabulous.

I'm hoping the space under the tree is big enough for all their presents now Xmas Shock (usually I'm buying puzzle books from the 99p shop to make it look like there's a bit more there than there really is).

I asked the DS's today when in town what they would like for Christmas - they gave me their "dream list" (the ones they know they've got about much chance of getting as I have of getting to the moon Xmas Wink) and their "normal" list. Top of DS1's (10yrs old) was a zip up pencil case as the lid keeps coming off his metal one.

I nearly cried when he said that. Reminded me of DS2 (6 at the time) asking for "a calendar" for Christmas. (that makes me sound like a right pathetic/cruel mother - they do get bigger things than those even on "small" Christmasses - honest!)

Anyhow, I thought of the box yesterday, the stuff I ordered as their main presents, and the box today and the look on their eyes on Christmas morning is going to be like \link{http://brandonmitchell.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/hayden_shocked_face_resized.jpg\this} followed straight after by \link{http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=cache1.asset-cache.net/xc/86282823.jpg%3Fv%3D1%26c%3DIWSAsset%26k%3D2%26d%3D2AC75F6FAA20674C599551ECCE5D296AFAE5A7E0DCEC262FAC4745487BBFDFB8&imgrefurl=www.gettyimages.com/detail/86282823/Hulton-Archive&usg=__OSnN2xQyEDPygM5Xr-Ek3bTW9Uo=&h=467&w=366&sz=53&hl=en&start=39&sig2=9cPqWiv9f_Vx0lbSscCU9A&zoom=1&tbnid=55bWxr7RMN--XM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=116&ei=Su8DTYXoH97c4wby36nJCg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Decstatic%2Bchild%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D643%26tbs%3Disch:10,1057&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=124&vpy=90&dur=4289&hovh=254&hovw=199&tx=171&ty=96&oei=QO8DTbjPJMOxtAaV89DnCQ&esq=3&page=3&ndsp=19&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:39&biw=1366&bih=643\this}

Baroqin

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 12/12/2010 00:03

awww thank you aristocat. I was so Xmas Shock to get another parcel this morning. It was actually what woke me - as I'd dozed off on the sofa again after the DS's got up so an absolutely fantastic wake up call Xmas Smile

mumoverseas · 12/12/2010 03:10

totally agree about the 'feelgood' factor of this thread. I'm having a pretty crappy time at home at the moment but reading this every day really cheers me up.

LilRed so pleased you were nominated x

PigeonStreet · 12/12/2010 07:32

Has anyone received 99D yet? POsted it nearly a week ago and getting worried about whether or not it has been received...

mumoverseas · 12/12/2010 07:52

Its probably just taking a little longer than you expected due to the bad weather in some parts of the country. I had ordered an item online which was supposed to be delivered on Thursday but got an email to say they couldn't deliver due to the 'extreme weather conditions'.

PigeonStreet · 12/12/2010 07:54

Very true MOS, will stop fretting [sgrin]

PigeonStreet · 12/12/2010 07:55

doh! Xmas Grin

PosieParksHerSleigh · 12/12/2010 08:28

Santa 69D

I am delighted you saw your thank you....

Have a very Happy Christmas.

xxxx

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 12/12/2010 08:29

Pigeon - it is also possible that the person you sent to doesn't have regular internet access. I know someone who was nominated posted on this thread earlier to say that they'd been without computer/internet for quite some time and had only just got the email - so if it's someone else in that situation they may not have had a chance to get to the library etc to post.
