Impact of death on daughter constipated sick and accidents

Long story short my father in law died last weekend in an accident. DD and him were best of buddies doing everything together so she’s devastated we all are. Since Wednesday she’s been feeling sick not had a poo since Tuesday. I thought perhaps stress might slow her poo down she is eating less. Being sick and wetting at night which again putting down to stress. She has been sick tonight with the pain

My neighbours daughter is a pharmacist she told us to try dulcolax suppositories which I gave her around 6. She’s managed to poo about 10 hard rocks of poo some in the loo some not I’ve had her in the bath to try and help go she’s been on in and out of the bath on the floor and back on the loo. Im pretty sure its just her constipated but I guess you never know what grief can do to them.

Her hands and feet are ice cold too. Ive popped winter fluffy pjs and fluffy socks on now popped towels on the bathroom floor and giver her a hot water bop for her belly.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your poor dd. You are doing the right thing getting her seen.

WinterRach · 15/09/2025 00:03

Its hospital for us. On the way to the doctor she had another unbarebale like wave of pain needing to go but couldnt she was sick and a little wet. The doctor called an ambulance we are just on the way to the county hospital which is about an hours drive.

They have given her some pain relief up her nose which has made her a lot more chilled out but still in pain and an injection to stop her being sick i think they also gave her buscapan. The doctor thinks she might have appendix or maybe an infection and a blocked in her poo. Her hands and feet are still freezing.

Thank you so much Il update in the morning when we hope to know whats going on x

Thinking of you, hope it’s a decent night once you get in and getting meds for your dd is great, hopefully she’ll feel a bit better soon

Please ask them if it could be sepsis, just to make sure they're considering it.

The paramedic said it could be. They have been driving us there with the blue lights on so we are nearly there. She has just been violently sick again. I dont have any more pjs for her but dad will bring them up in the morning. He went back home to do the school run in the monring and then come to us. The terrible pains are easing but she now has pain from her feet being cold. Im terrified what ever this could be

I'm glad to see that she's in safe hands. Hopefully nothing more than just appendicitis.

Remember to keep asking about sepsis, especially with her low temperature. My son had sepsis last year and it can get serious if it isn't treated right away.

DomPom47 · 15/09/2025 01:37

Hopefully the doctors will do all the relevant tests and figure out exactly what is going on.

Gagaandgag · 15/09/2025 01:57

Thinking of you all OP, glad you are at the hospital

cannynotsay · 15/09/2025 02:37

so glad you’re getting seen at the hospital, so sad she’s so unwell after everything you have all been through. Hope she gets better asap and they can figure out what’s going on

Why did you give her 6 suppositories? The dose is one.

It sounds like she needs immediate medical assessment given cold hands and feet at 12 years old.

I think she meant 6:00.

LegoTherapy · 15/09/2025 06:58

Wishing your Dd all the best and a handhold for you.

Cakeandcoffee93 · 15/09/2025 07:35

She is doing ok she is really constipaed they have said her belly is really backed up and has a urine infection so she is on iv antibiotics for that. They have give her an enema but it didnt really work they are giving her a drink like 2l to flush her systhem out and then tomorrrow they will put a camra up her bum and down her mouth to see. After all the medication they gave she is stitll being sick and its pure yellow now. On a bright note she does not have sepsis

FcukBreastCancer · 15/09/2025 13:12

Oh poor thing.
I remember they will be on look out for green vomit. So do check and tell a nurse straight away.

JellyRollBlues · 15/09/2025 13:14

Fingers crossed the enema, plus water helps. Your dd is in the best possible place. Handhold op.

IneedtheeohIneedtheeeveryhourIneedthee · 15/09/2025 13:22

Poor poor girl. I really hope she gets some answers and is a bit more comfortable soon. How awful to be this unwell in the early stages of grief for her grandad.

Sdpbody · 15/09/2025 13:35

Poor baby! My DD is so obsessed with my dad that I dread to think how she would cope in this situation.

Yep. My son's surgeon said to me to watch out for green vomit because due to adhesions from previous surgery, he's more prone to bowel obstructions now.

Though my son's first bowel obstruction, it was coffee brown vomit so keep an eye for that too, OP.

XelaM · 15/09/2025 13:51

Hope your daughter feels better soon!

spiderlight · 15/09/2025 13:59

Oh, bless her heart - this all sounds utterly miserable for her, and such a worry for the rest of you. I really hope you get some answers today and that she starts to feel better.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 15/09/2025 14:13

I had similar to this. Constipation which caused a blockage, I was in loads of pain (worse than childbirth but not dissimilar), vomiting (liquids have nowhere to go), ended up in hospital on antibiotics and fluid drip.
It was an awful couple of days but I was fine. They did a cat scan to see the blockage and a up the bum camera once the blockage had passed (sorry...forgot the name). She might need regular stool softeners for a bit. Fibergel or Laxido but she will be ok!
Constipation can be really serious and really horrible. Not being able to fart is literally the worse thing I have ever felt. BUT it is fixed really easily and avoided really easily.

GOOD LUCK....

nonevernotever · 15/09/2025 14:48

I've been thinking of you and your dd. Pleased to see a more positive update. Keeping everything crossed that they can get her feeling more comfortable soon.
