Hi all. I feel awful and so confused and selfish but just don’t know anymore if I am doing right or wrong. Please don’t judge and educate if you can. I am absolutely petrified to give my daughter any vaccines, the thought makes me feel so ill and I shut anyone off when they try to speak about it. I am so worried they will do more harm than good and I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if something happened. I know there is the other hand where something natural could happen by also not vaccinating her but I am petrified and need educating. It started off with unwillingly seeing & reading bad story’s about vaccines which I didn’t want to believe until I did my own re search which I really regret ever doing. I looked into all the ingredients and toxins and just awful things put into these vaccines which I feel if any parent actually read would also feel how I am feeling towards them! Please don’t think I am a bad parent I know I’m not the best but how can I willingly push this shit into her body?? I am having pressured phone calls from the doctors constantly which ends in tears every time with me trying to delay it once again. I just feel like a mess now and that I have fucked up... but I can’t ignore my instinct / factual knowledge on what I know. But now I am starting to feel really ashamed of my decision. I just need someone to talk to on the subject. (And no I am not some conspiracy believe on this subject. I have just genuinely been upset and outraged by the ingredients put into our baby’s body’s 😭)

How fortunate you are op to live in a place and at a time where your decision appears to you to be a reasonable one.

Latenightreader · 15/06/2020 10:48

My daughter had her 8/12/16 week jabs (I am pro vaccine) but for some reason I was terrified of the 12 month ones. Everything I had read suggested that a bad reaction was inevitable. She had a cold when they were first due, so I put them off, and eventually booked her in three months late. She was fine. Cried at the actual injections (and it isn't nice to hold your baby while someone hurts them) but a few seconds later she had calmed and was fine. I anticipated a temperature, a bad night (I booked the next day off work especially) but apart from a whimpery, clingy patch mid afternoon (cleared up after Calpol, which we also rarely use) she was her usual cheery self. I felt like a weight had been lifted.

I also haven’t forgiven my mother op!

Blackbear19 · 15/06/2020 11:05

Aborted fetuses - if you seriously believe that you need serious mental health help!

Buzzfrightyears · 15/06/2020 11:05

As an ex research nurse I can’t tell you how thoroughly tried and tested every medication that is ever licensed for use is! The government don’t want to spend money on much, so if they’re offering a vaccination programme I’d say you can be sure they think, if nothing else, it’s cost effective. I have also worked in paediatrics and have seen the devastation caused by preventable childhood illnesses in unvaccinated children. I’d be terrified of leaving the house with my kids if they weren’t vaccinated - everything is a chemical, but if your child had life threatening sepsis would you refuse antibiotics because of the chemicals? It’s the same difference. Nothing in life is ever risk-free, but you can minimise the risks to your child by getting vaccinated!

Blackbear19 · 15/06/2020 11:16

Op Covid19 has brought us to sample life before vaccines or adequate treatment.
Is this really the life you want for DD?

WokeUpSmeltTheCoffee · 15/06/2020 12:02

Zippy has explained very very clearly about the 'aborted foetuses' and 'bovine'. Some viruses used in some vaccines are grown in cell lines which were originally taken from a foetus many decades ago.
There is none of that material actually in the vaccine
Even the Pope says it's OK!

Please please have a conversation with a health professional in real life about this stuff. Your choices about organic food and nappies are your own harmless choices that every parent is entitled to make but this is in a different league. You are exposing your child to very real risks based on your own totally irrational fears.

Tap water is better for babies and young children than bottled because bottled water has much more sodium.

Suzie81 · 15/06/2020 13:44

Sorry, not giving your kids vacation is essentially child abuse in my mind. I hope they never come anywhere near mine. Hopefully more schools and nurseries will reject kids with no vaccinations.

EdithWeston · 15/06/2020 13:58

The Vatican letter on this is interesting:

www.immunize.org/talking-about-vaccines/vaticandocument.htm

It deplores the use of human cells derived from foetuses in this way, says pharmaceutical companies should be seeking to discontinue their use, by finding new means which are not morally problematic.

"In any case, there remains a moral duty to continue to fight and to employ every lawful means in order to make life difficult for the pharmaceutical industries which act unscrupulously and unethically. However, the burden of this important battle cannot and must not fall on innocent children and on the health situation of the population - especially with regard to pregnant women"

So it is licit only in the sense that the end user of the vaccine is far removed from the original acquisition of the cell line (and did not share intent), and because the use of vaccines and is so overwhelmingly beneficial (good summary of the level of harm from congenital rubella in the last two big US epidemics of 1964 and 1970)

Well done op. I’m proud of you.

Spam88 · 20/06/2020 12:39

Well done OP!

SimonJT · 20/06/2020 12:47

I’m very pleased you have started the vaccination course.

My son wasn’t vaccinated by his birth mother, he caught Men C and got off lightly, he only lost some of his toes and suffered hearing damage.

TankGirl97 · 20/06/2020 13:00

Well done op, that's brilliant news!

I was going to advise you to read Roald Dahl's account of losing his daughter to measles, and Michael Rosen writing about his son dying of meningitis. How anyone could not vacccinate after reading that is beyond me.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/06/2020 15:30

It’s better done, my mother had me vaccinated from whooping cough at a time when the media said it caused brain damage but she’d had whooping cough and nearly died from it so decided to go ahead.

Wolfiefan · 20/06/2020 15:35

Oh well done OP. I couldn’t be vaccinated as a child for medical reasons. I did contract rubella and mumps and measles. I was incredibly ill. I did recover unscathed. But not all kids would. You’ve done the right thing. You really really have. Flowers

KaleJuicer · 21/06/2020 11:20

@Jadejade20 well done!!

FourPlasticRings · 21/06/2020 18:39

Well done, OP. It's not nice to do, I know, but it's the less risky option.

BlackSwan · 22/06/2020 20:33

It's a really responsible thing you've done. I'm glad you got there in the end.

AngelaScandal · 09/07/2020 14:45

Well done OP.

Defenestratethecat · 09/07/2020 14:59

I wonder if the anti-vax brigade is gaining strength because there are very few people in the 'west' who remember what life was like before there were vaccines for common childhood illnesses. My 90 odd year old DMum was in an isolation hospital aged 3 for weeks with scarlet fever. Her best friend's baby sister died of measles. She knew people growing up who died of lock-jaw and flu.

I knew several people when I was a child who were disabled by polio. Polio is on the rise again in Pakistan and Afghanistan because various factions mistrust the vaccine regime.. This is a disease that had been pretty much wiped out .

Please look at the sources of your anti-vaxx information. Ask your own doctor if their children are vaccinated.

lucindalovescats · 09/07/2020 15:00

Your child could die of measles or end up permanently dead it's on the rise at the moment. You would hate yourself. Look at the evidence the risks of having a vaccination are minute compared to not having them. You are putting your child at risk. Read the evidence and try and act rationally if you can before its too late.

Lockdownseperation · 09/07/2020 15:03

@lucindalovescats the op clearly says her child has started her vaccination program.

Lockdownseperation · 09/07/2020 15:04

Well done. Your child is safer because of your decision.
