What’s this in child’s ear? (Photo)

Hi, noticed this in 6 year old’s ear just now. Is this what wax looks like? To be honest it looks a bit like some popcorn (which we do have in the house) but ds claims no knowledge... Don’t want to embarrass myself at minor injuries if this is what wax looks like!
His other ear isn’t like this.
Thanks!;

You've definitely done the right thing and not overreacting at all. It looks like a foreign object (part of a toy perhaps?) Good luck for the 3 hour wait Shock

I got the hamas beads out once to entertain DD while the health visitor visited DS. She hadn't seen them before and said "these look like they could fit up a toddler's nose" which DD took as a challenge and immediately stuffed one up there. Bless her she didn't leave until it was out as she said he was her fault entirely for planting the idea!

Also later I was called to collect DS from school as he had a stone up his nose. How did it get there, I ask. Apparently the wind blew it up there Hmm So I got him to blow his nose in the car park and returned him directly to school. His friend had the day off the days before to go to hospital to have some lego taken out of his nose - it was a complete set up.

OhDearBeer · 25/01/2019 21:35

I thought Hamma bead too. Hope it's out soon

Surfingtheweb · 25/01/2019 21:36

I'm following too because I'm nosey. Hope he's ok.

ChristmasSnow · 25/01/2019 21:37

A tiny lego head?

Heymummee · 25/01/2019 21:37

My son put a pea up his nose once and his dad managed to get it out by blowing up the other nostril. It came flying out. Not helpful to your case at all, but funny all the same. They see things like this all the time at A&E. I stuck a raisin in my ear canal as a child.

Rafabella · 25/01/2019 21:37

Not so sure that's a popcorn kernel. I think it's a part of a toy - Lego? Anyway, good luck in a&e! I'm sure all will be well!

BertieBotts · 25/01/2019 21:40

:o love this! When DS1 was a toddler he put a pea from a Samosa up his nose. I was deliberating whether or not to pop him to the GP across the road when I ran into my health visitor, she said "Dried or fresh?" I said cooked and she said not to worry and he probably would have swallowed it! Then laughed and said she was surprised the spice didn't make him sneeze.

Meerkatmad05 · 25/01/2019 21:40

Hope its nothing too serious.

Abetes · 25/01/2019 21:41

I’m nosey too. Hope it gets sorted soon

Chimchar · 25/01/2019 21:42

Hope you get seen quickly in A&E. I can't wait to find out what it is!

KitKatCHA · 25/01/2019 21:42

My daughter put a bronzing pearl up her nose once, it got lodged behind the fleshy but and required a trip to two different hospitals before they got it out!

Shahlalala · 25/01/2019 21:44

One of my big fears with small children, touch wood DD has refrained so far....!
Hope it is quicker than the 3 hours.

Fraying · 25/01/2019 21:44

On the bright side, at least he is young enough for children's A&E. Adult A&E on Burns' Night will probably have an even longer wait. Smile

twosecs · 25/01/2019 21:44

I reckon it's sweetcorn too, did minor injuries say anything about what they thought it could be?!

BowBeau · 25/01/2019 21:45

As a child I was terrible for putting TicTacs in my ear. Took my mum ages to figure out that every time it happened I was whisked to the GP, who had a jar of huge lollipops on his desk that he dished our to good girls who sat still while having a TicTac removed.

Hope your DS gets sorted soon - I reckon it’s just a massive chunk of wax!

Pinkyponkcustard · 25/01/2019 21:46

Oh no! My little bro used to put things up his nose all the time when he was little used to drive my mum demented!

ElvisParsley · 25/01/2019 21:47

Casually strolls by , not place marking at all...

diddl · 25/01/2019 21:47

"Ear wax is usually mid to dark brown."

Really?

I thought more yellow!

Maybe that's just my family!

Hope all gets sorted out, Op.

MrsJakeLovell · 25/01/2019 21:48

now I really have to know what it is! Happy Burns Night!

speakout · 25/01/2019 21:48

Hope he is OK.

SassitudeandSparkle · 25/01/2019 21:49

Do you have the Blox lego-type stuff because that looks like the neck end of a head to me, being hard plastic it would be tricky to get a grip on as well. Hope it's lying in a dish very soon although you may never get an admission of how it got there.

Bringbackthestripes · 25/01/2019 21:49

Hope he is seen soon. Please take a pic of it once it’s out so we can see what’s caused all the problems.

Bluelonerose · 25/01/2019 21:50

Place marking in hope of sporner photo

ohwownosnow · 25/01/2019 21:51

This will be outing but when my brother was younger he swallowed x2 AA batteries. Was in hospital for a week with daily abdo x-rays until my dad had the pleasure of examining his poo. He did pass them and he was fine. Hope all is ok. I'm a nurse so would have had a little dig before taking them in Blush
