What’s this in child’s ear? (Photo)

Hi, noticed this in 6 year old’s ear just now. Is this what wax looks like? To be honest it looks a bit like some popcorn (which we do have in the house) but ds claims no knowledge... Don’t want to embarrass myself at minor injuries if this is what wax looks like!
His other ear isn’t like this.
Thanks!;

Hope all is okay.

BringBackDoves · 25/01/2019 20:30

Is it the end of a cotton bud? DS got one stuck once and it looked like that. Annoyingly out of reach - even for the GP - so we ended up at the hospital ...

Any news?

SandunesAndRainclouds · 25/01/2019 20:32

I’m going with popcorn too!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/01/2019 20:35

I would have been unable to resist the temptation to try to grasp it gently with tweezers.

Kleptronic · 25/01/2019 20:36

That looks like dried pus extruding though wax to me. Has he had a sore ear?

Bunnybigears · 25/01/2019 20:37

Im amazed you had enough self restraint not to try and pull it out!

mummymayhem18 · 25/01/2019 20:37

Hope you get seen soon Smile

I once had a fly crawl into my ear when I was going to sleep. It buzzed, I wriggled my finger in my ear and it stopped. I figured it had gone.

Three weeks later, had a funny feeling in my ear. Out came this fly, encrusted in wax. Mightily satisfying...

funnyoldonion · 25/01/2019 20:54

I need to know!

Chickenvindasaag · 25/01/2019 20:55

Is it wrong to ask for photos?

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 25/01/2019 20:57

I'm laughing at the "he says he doesn't know what it is."

Of course he does, he's just bricking it like any six year old who thinks he's going to have to go through life with a bit of popcorn in his ear GrinGrinGrin

When I was five my mum had to take me to A&E as I'd stuck a mushroom up my nose. Mum was in a right flap and I legit thought I was about to die.

Standstilling · 25/01/2019 20:58

I'm thinking polystyrene bead from a bean bag. Hope it comes out easily.

FannyFifer · 25/01/2019 21:00

That is within easy tweezer reach, I'd be right in about it.

FallAmongstTheStars · 25/01/2019 21:00

That fly story 🤢Grin

Cantchooseaname · 25/01/2019 21:02

Maxrichterttt · 25/01/2019 21:03

I’m going with a popcorn kernel too. Hope they manage to get it out!

Givemestrengthorgin · 25/01/2019 21:06

Could you not have sucked it out with the Hoover?! (Joke!)

oldowlgirl · 25/01/2019 21:08
