What’s this in child’s ear? (Photo)

Hi, noticed this in 6 year old’s ear just now. Is this what wax looks like? To be honest it looks a bit like some popcorn (which we do have in the house) but ds claims no knowledge... Don’t want to embarrass myself at minor injuries if this is what wax looks like!
His other ear isn’t like this.
Thanks!;

I came on to say I would get it checked but can see you now have. Hope all ok.

TheWaiting · 25/01/2019 21:13

You’re very restrained. I would have had the tweezers in there!

UnicornSlaughters · 25/01/2019 21:14

Shamelessly waiting to see what it was

blacktree · 25/01/2019 21:15

😟

donajimena · 25/01/2019 21:15

I'm also placemarking

moanymoaner · 25/01/2019 21:15

Oh gosh hope he's ok! My DS 5 said earlier this month "mum I put a coco pop right up my nose" I nearly took him to minor injuries but I somehow managed to get him to sneeze and held the other nostril so it flew out!

shecamefromgreece · 25/01/2019 21:17

Hope he's ok op.

DeathMetalMum · 25/01/2019 21:18

I'd have probably tried with tweezers. But I'm mainly placemarking.

Pixie2015 · 25/01/2019 21:18

Oh no just what you need on a Friday night hope it’s out soon

Paddy1234 · 25/01/2019 21:18

Place marking 😂

GoofyIsACow · 25/01/2019 21:19

Ooh what is it?! Hope they got it out OP

Bonkerz · 25/01/2019 21:20

My son was 10 when he shoved a Lego brick (small 1) up his nose. He couldn't blow his nose either (autistic) so we were sent to a hospital 15 miles away where they had to remove under anaesthetic!
Hope it's now out!!

KenAdamsRealWife · 25/01/2019 21:20

My Dd put a raisin up her nose when she was 2. I panicked then about 2 mins later she sneezed it out! place marking

Paddy1234 · 25/01/2019 21:20

But hope all is ok X

TheSheepofWallSt · 25/01/2019 21:21

Personally I think it’s very light coloured (albeit horribly “condensed”) earwax that has caught the flash of the camera light.

Placemarking!

Alwaysaware · 25/01/2019 21:21

My brother put a silver ball bearing in his ear when he was little as he thought it would enable him to read peoples minds...Hmm

Sophia1984 · 25/01/2019 21:23

Looks like a pus-filled abcess maybe?

DrWhy · 25/01/2019 21:24

My 2 year old DS stuck a green bean up his nose a couple of weeks ago, I assume it was a whole one that then broke off as you could barely see the end of it with a head torch. The blowing technique didn’t work and we didn’t want to risk tweezers with a very wriggly toddler so in the end dabbed pepper under his nose and managed to make him sneeze it out and avoid A&E - there was a good inch of bean up there - I didn’t think his head was big enough for that! DS didn’t enjoy the experience much so hopefully that will put him off for the future. Ears are much trickier though, not blowing and sneezing options!

hewhinessoshewines · 25/01/2019 21:26

My money is on sweet corn

barkinatthemoon · 25/01/2019 21:26

hope you're not kept waiting too long! You've made the right call taking him in

Fortheloveofscience · 25/01/2019 21:27

I’ve no idea what it looks like but I want to know (and if at all possible, to see a video of it being removed Blush).

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 25/01/2019 21:27

OP hope sons ear is ok. Not sure what it is. I am sure your son knows thought!
I have had 'Aquabeads' come out of my daughters nose!

I once stuck sellotape up mine.'y Mum thought I had a blocked nose for quite a while. I ended up going Drs. The sellotape was disgusting and it stunk!!!

2019Dancerz · 25/01/2019 21:29

Wasn’t expecting so many replies! Minor injuries tried with extra long thin tweezers but couldn’t get it out, so have been sent to a&e - they can do more stuff apparently. Told 3 hour wait so you might not find out what it is till much later, sorry.. Of your guesses I’m hoping not a worm!! Not how I wanted to spend Friday night (Burns night here so he’s in his kilt, always good to get dressed up for hospital!) but I just hope it can come out safely and without pain. Thanks for the messages it’s hard to know what to think sometimes and I’m a bit of a worrier anyway.
