OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It will yes, you will need to re declare your child and tick that they are receiving Dla, then you will need to report that you are caring. Put the date it started as when your Dla was awarded you will then get the disabled child element and also the careers element so you payment will go up a fair bit.

Even if I work and get a wage in as well?

Can anyone help me answer this question please.
I get a little bit of UC but I do work also part time and get money from my job. If DLA was to accept my sons claim and I tell UC will that affect the payments I get with them?

pretty sure it doesn't. if anything if you get High rate care you may be entitled to disabled child element

No although I’m under the impression if you go for carers allowance as well it will affect UC payments but it works out with the element payment you receive from UC. If someone can clarify that would be great as I would like to know properly also

if you receive carers allowance that will be taken off your UC claim so you are possibly slightly better off with the carers element of UC

Wigswaddis · 29/08/2023 11:18

Yes even if you work. Your universal credit it worked out with all your elements and then once we look at your earnings, we disregard your work allowance and the we deduct 55p per pound earned after that so if you still receive something, you will receive more. Generally if you’re working you won’t be able to claim carers allowance (you can still get the carers element if UC), carers allowance is deducted pound for pound. For those of you that don’t work, the benefit of claiming carers allowance is that you will get a class 1 national insurance stamp rather than a class 3.

Ignore the typos I’m in a teams meeting haha

ChrissyMac1 · 29/08/2023 11:41

I spoke to them today after an hour wait! Scan date 22/5 and it’s finally with the case worker, so fingers crossed!

well that throws me into blind panic. I thought from others they were just getting round to 2/5 and now they've raced ahead to the 22nd

ChrissyMac1 · 29/08/2023 11:49

There seems to be no process at all! I mean from reading the thread I was expecting end of September going into October. They first told me 11th September and now they’ve said it’s with the case worker? Who knows, maybe it’s not. I’ll update if I hear anything.

I can't remember from when my eldest was awarded. is the disabled child element backdated to the DLA award start date

No it doesn’t affect it.
infact if you get mrc you will receive a disability element of £100+ or if you receive hrc you will receive a element of £400+.
however this does go into your allowance, so the more you earn the more that is deducted x

A case worker is different to a decision maker.
the case worker is the person who distributes the work loads to the decision makers x

Ahhh I see makes sense, so could still be a longish wait! Thankyou for the information this thread is the only thing that keeps me sane. When I fist applied for my eldest some years ago it took literally 8 weeks this time round it’s all new! X

Wigswaddis · 29/08/2023 12:08

It will have to go to a DM for late reporting of a change, but if the only reason it was reported late was because you were awaiting the decision then it will be backdated to when you out in the Dla claim.

Angry84 · 29/08/2023 12:14

Just got off the phone with dla. They told me very confusing information my scan date is 15 May. So 15wk today they said they are taking 18 weeks at the moment so we should have a decision by the end of Sept that's 4 wks and 4 days away making it 19.5wks I'm so confused by their maths. Because their math ain't mathing.

urghhh47 · 29/08/2023 12:18

Whoop i have a payment going on in 2 days! We've been awarded! So happy! 17 weeks to the day of scan date! Good luck everyone!!

Hello. First Post on here but been observing. Sent forms off mid May. Had letter saying it had been received 26/6. Received another letter saying they'll be in touch. Rang this morning for update, very nice lady said its in the queue to go to the decision maker so I've got hella wait yet. Good luck to everyone though. I do hope you all get the news you want xx

Leigh3 · 29/08/2023 12:29

Ah that amazing hoping I should hear soon then as I have the same date. I’ve been patiently watching this thread 🥳

Snoweymum · 29/08/2023 13:09

I can't see pending payment with my bank, I'm 17 weeks too, I might give them a call tomorrow. Congrats on your award

trace34567 · 29/08/2023 13:34

Hi, INWright

when i inquired on UC i was informed that if you tell UC you will receive more money for the child,
You’ll also get an extra amount if any of your children are disabled. You’re eligible for this extra amount no matter how many children you have.
You’ll get:

  • £146.31 if your child is disabled
  • £456.89 if your child is severely disabled
How much you’ll get Extra monthly amount For your first child £315.00 (born before 6 April 2017) £269.58 (born on or after 6 April 2017) For your second child and any other eligible children £269.58 per child

Hope this helps

Jodie1204 · 29/08/2023 13:40

I have given in.. anxiety has taken over so I am now sitting on hold. Scan date 3/5 and I already know they will tell me NOTHING other than its either still waiting for DM or with a DM and I am wasting my time by ringing but as I type I am 19 mins into the call so may aswell stay on the phone now haha
Wish me luck 🤞🤞🤞
