I've just got through and been told mines with a DM should hear tonight or tomorrow. My scan date is 29th March this is for my daughters 1st claim.

Ooh this is exciting to read! Our scan date is 30th March and it feels like forever since we sent it in! Hoping for a decision by the end of next week then! 🤞

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 20:21

I was told over the phone today claim was declined yesterday. I'm defo putting in an MR the reasons are ridiculous.

Do I need to wait for the letter first and then put in for an MR ? I didn't write down word for word the exact reasoning they gave over the phone

Daisymum18 · 21/07/2023 01:05

Hi guys
My son was awarded Wednesday morning I called Wednesday afternoon and was told the rates and how much back pay etc I've checked the bank this morning and nothing has gone in I know it's 3-5days but usually I'd receive payment on the third day when my daughter was awarded she was awarded on the Saturday the weekend of the king's coronation obviously that was a bank hol weekend her back payment went in on the Thursday around 12.20am
I'm worried now that DLA have decided to decline despite being told he was awarded has anyone else had this expected payment but nothing has landed on the third day
Little worried

I didn’t wait I rang them back up for the reasons again and then told them why they were wrong basically 🤦🏼‍♀️ I then did a covering letter myself going back over the reasons for decline and sent that off with extra supporting letters and evidence about 2/3 weeks later as I was waiting on people from the school to back me up to show their reasons for decline were pure false. I’ve not yet had a decision yet but hoping it won’t be too long now

Lo89 · 21/07/2023 07:38

@ksa221 thank you so much i will call them today and send off more evidence and covering letter. I hope you get some good news soon x

mooneigh · 21/07/2023 10:34

I have also been declined! 😢I finally got through and apparently they made a decision on 19th which was my 16 weeks however I thought I would leave it until today to check and complain but nope they have declined. I don't know how they can fail a child in need and some of the reason were ridiculous, I am furious!

Shellbel10 · 21/07/2023 10:53

Sorry to hear this. Can I ask what evidence you sent in I’m feeling anxious I haven’t sent enough now

Holly0209 · 21/07/2023 11:26

Hi I posted my first claim for my son yesterday. Is the several offices as I couldn’t wrap my head around which address to send to? I saw the free post one with no city or postcode and I ended up sending to the full address in wolverhampton? I live in Wirral

Lo89 · 21/07/2023 11:38

@mooneigh sorry you have been declined also. It's so disheartening after the wait, the reasons they've been pushing out are insane

TiredOfCleaning · 21/07/2023 13:20

Sorry, this is possibly a stupid question- I know that DLA is meant to be non-means tested but has anyone been declined for reasons due to financial solvency? DS is in a private school and we got his varied and many diagnoses privately. We pay for therapy and MH support etc. I have put off applying for 9 years since his first diagnoses because I felt we would be seen to be able to absorb the costs, but now his medication and counselling and so forth costs us circa £300 a month which we cannot afford anymore, so anything extra will help. I just worry that they will see 'private school, private support, rich bastards, reject application'.

Mumofsoontobe5 · 21/07/2023 14:06

U could be the richest person in the world if care needs are eating into your personal money then u should be entitled the government funding is there to support the person who needs it not the parents or caregivers I’m not sure if there’s an income threshold I’m not aware of one I know plenty of people who aren’t on benefits who have been able to claim and they’ve had private diagnoses etc

There’s nowhere on the form that you submit any financial info, or even job title etc. so they’d have no idea how much money you do or don’t have x

TiredOfCleaning · 22/07/2023 05:38

All true, but all his reports make it clear he is in an independent school.

I was having a wobble. Time and time again i have muttered to DH; 'But I am not sure we really deserve this- we can more or less cope' and he points out it's not for us, it is for DS. The adhd medication costs have completely stretched us though. Our GP medical centre no longer prescribes ADHD meds for various reasons and so we are on a waiting list for the provider they have outsourced this to. Until then though we have to go via his psychiatrist and pay to see her; the prescribing fee; then the medication itself. It's simply so expensive.

I guess now we are fairly close to (hopefully) a decision I am overthinking everything. What I did not put down in the section where you explain how he is affected day to day etc. I did not include anything from the school because they contributed to every report that has been done on him. Now I am double guessing that as well!

It's quite anxiety provoking!!

mooneigh · 22/07/2023 08:41

@Shellbel10 We sent in evidence from school (SENDco who have been supporting her, assesed and diagnosed her plus referred her for further tests/diagnosis) .
I also phoned in at 9 weeks to say she had another diagnosis and they noted it down but did say it's not about the diagnosis. But I stated it proved her mobility issues and also proved her extra care needs.
I also sent in at 13 weeks a letter saying about her referral from the school to Dr's for further tests/diagnosis.

But nope apparently this did not prove to be enough evidence for some of the questions. however if they had actually looked at my evidence plus contacted the school/physio/Dr's then this would have all proved everything. but no they did not do that.

Don't let this worry you as you just don't know! some people on these threads have been awarded and haven't even sent in any evidence at all. It really is a lottery just who you get that looks through your papers. The call handler basically told me that too! So wrong and so unfair :(

Daisymum18 · 24/07/2023 02:49

I'm hoping someone can help
Has anyone received back pay from DLA on a set day
Son was awarded Wednesday and the lady on the phone said the back pay includes payment upto July 25th and will probably go in then
I've checked the bank and there's no payment from DLA as yet so is it likely the lady on the phone was saying backpay is set to be released into my account on the 25th ? Is this something that's been done before as I thought it was 3-5days from it being awarded my daughter was awarded on a Saturday and hers was paid on the following Thursday after bank hol weekend the call was all a blur as I wasn't expecting my son to be awarded
any help or other people's experiences greatly appreciated x

Shan001 · 24/07/2023 06:32

To those querying payment, it's 3to5working days to recieve the payment.. Decision was made 29th June and I received payment 5th July.. I found out when the money hit my account, then I called to confirm.

Sorry to those of you who were declined.. Its frustrating but don't give up.. I would definitely encourage you to request an Mandatory Reconsideration.. I haven't seen anyone not be successful! Wait for the letter showing their reasons and list each if those reasons and explain why they are wrong.

Good luck to you all.

@ItsBritneyBitchhhh thanks for sharing the info regarding £150 disability cost of living payment.. I appreciate you! I had not yet automatically received it so glad to have received a way to chase it.. every little helps!

Shan001 · 24/07/2023 06:44

Also once awarded, call to confirm dates and rate then contact tax credits straight away so you don't loose out as they only backdate a month. I'm not sure about how far back UC goes but it's better to let everyone know sooner than later as most benefits go up..
Carers allowance award amount can be deducted from benefits but it shouldn't be in its entirety and you would still be better off receiving national insurance credits etc.

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 24/07/2023 08:36

@Shan001 no problem:)

126t · 24/07/2023 09:06

Hello hopefully someone can help me my son as just been given his echp after mediation do I have to tell dla that he as got one now as when I filled the form in he was just going through the assessment

Missycoco1 · 24/07/2023 09:35

If your EHCP is completed and you can copy it I would definitely send as extra evidence ASAP as it's really useful for decision maker as so many professionals would of been involved in the writing of it I think it describes what your child struggles with and steps to be put in place to help support your child definitely send it.

Missycoco1 · 24/07/2023 09:39

I've just rung today to chase my daughters (scan date 29th March) I was told last Friday it was with a decision maker and I should know by Saturday. Anyway the man on the phone said none of us should be told this and people are giving false hopes at DWP as they are inundated and a decision maker can take upto 4 weeks to make a decision however most are completed within two weeks. He could raise a complaint but I said its fine I have waited this long a few extra weeks won't hurt. I would rather they look at her pack properly than rush it through to make a decision. Hope this helps some people. It's just a long waiting game but hopefully worth it. I got through within 15 minutes at 9am which is quickest ever.

Ch86 · 24/07/2023 11:13

Currently on hold 32 mins in... I'm just calling to see if the waiting times have changed, my scan date is 24th May and also to make sure they haven't lost our claim forms as I have read they've lost a few recently 😫 my anxiety is through the roof.

Ch86 · 24/07/2023 11:36

Just got through after 53 mins on hold, and they lre saying its a 17 weeks wait from any scan date. And that's an estimate. Scan date is 24th May for us and he told me I'm looking at the end of September atleast ☹️

Zoemelia · 24/07/2023 13:24

Is that for coc or new cliam
ige been told 27 weeks for my sons coc decision

Kiki2023 · 24/07/2023 15:48

I got through an hour ago and they said 15 and a half weeks for new claims
I am on week 13 scan date 25th April
