Hi,

I created a new thread as the old one is reaching its limit.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Does anyone know how long uc take to back date carers element and disabled child element?

That's what I'm waiting on

MichelleG78 · 16/11/2022 23:57

Thought I would just leave a little update here before I leave this thread for a while. I rang up today to find out the progress of my MR and found out a decision was made last Wednesday and they haven’t changed their mind about their decision for my son. I’m absolutely heartbroken and now trying to find some strength for the whole appeal process. I wish you all the best of luck and am so happy for all who’ve been awarded x

MissEllie2 · 17/11/2022 07:08

@MichelleG78 I am so sorry! Please do not give up ❤️. Fight the entire way, you know your child deserves this. Sending you strength and keep that chin up. You’ve got this 🙏🏼🙏🏼 xx

Hi can I ask what evidence you sent in x

MichelleG78 · 17/11/2022 09:50

@MissEllie2 thank you so much, I will carry on fighting for what my son deserves xx

@Gemma96x I sent his latest audiology report, a supporting letter from his teacher of the deaf, his provision map for school, proof of ELSA sessions in school, a letter from his paediatrician. A closing letter from the parenting practitioner from the parenting programme I have just completed stating that they feel I need further support. I also wrote pages of extra evidence highlighting the struggles I have at home with him with his behaviour and told them he has been referred to CAHMs for self harming. Yet they do not feel that he is any different to a child of the same age and does not require any more care or supervision. Previous to this I had been awarded MRC for him in 2016 for 2 years, then it was renewed in 2018 for 4 years up until May this year. I was late sending his renewal form back so they classed it as a new claim and have declined him which I can not understand because if anything I feel his needs have increased xx

Kirsty111 · 17/11/2022 10:36

I’m so sorry to hear this hun I really do hope your child get what they deserve. The fighting never ends does it just remember you are stronger than you think you xx

MissEllie2 · 17/11/2022 10:48

Completely right, the fight never ends! I’ve heard of so many people taking it tribunal and having it over turned. I’d be so heartbroken too if it was to happen with my Son, really praying I don’t have to do these things but if I do I’ll definitely go for it x

Hill1991 · 17/11/2022 11:04

Scan date of 11 aug rang this morning and was told my ds got high rate care they made the decision on the 15th of this month good luck to everyone on their decisions

Trustynickname · 17/11/2022 11:13

@Gemma96x when do they backdate from? Do you need the letter to have come through to let them know about it? Son has been awarded but no letter yet

Hi my son got it backdated to when I phoned to make a claim xx

MichelleG78 · 17/11/2022 13:01

@Kirsty111 @MissEllie2 I feel like I’m forever fighting to get him the help he needs! But I will continue to do so as that’s what us Mums do for our children isn’t it! I am going to get in touch with citizens advice and the National deaf childrens society to see if they can help me with my appeal. I really hope you both have positive outcomes x

Kirsty111 · 17/11/2022 14:32

It’s definitely one thing after another I’ve put of making a claim for DLA for a very long time as all my energy is put into fighting with the school and getting him the care he needs. I’m hoping to hear something back real soon but knowing our luck he will probably get refused
@MissEllie2 wasn’t your scan date the 22nd the same as mine x

MissEllie2 · 17/11/2022 15:39

Yes it’s the 22nd as well, we are slowly getting closer. All of me just wants to call but then I know it’s too early yet. I’ve seen someone 21st of August though so the temptation is high!!! I think I’ll wait until the end of next week

Gemma96x · 17/11/2022 23:18

Hi guys has any1 had there back pay from uc yet x

Sevenwolf · 18/11/2022 06:01

I haven’t @Gemma96x im curious too as it will be going towards Xmas I spoke to them Wednesday and they sent it off to the decision maker? How long have you been waiting? Did you update your uc account and leave a message in your Journal?

Amymoody · 18/11/2022 06:39

@Gemma96x @Sevenwolf i updated my journal and updated my child's details the beginning of the week and they replied stating they will need to verify the information. So not sure how long it will take for it to be verified but tbh I thought it would have been pretty much straight away as it all should be on the system shouldn't it. How long have you two been waiting? X

Sevenwolf · 18/11/2022 07:10

@Gemma96x when do you usually get your uc or at least your statement ? Someone told me it comes at the same time but I’m not 100% how true this is

Sevenwolf · 18/11/2022 07:11

@Amymoody i think the same as you beginning of this week

Gemma96x · 18/11/2022 07:19
