Hi everyone, I am new here!

my scan date is 12/09 do it still should take over 4 weeks for me.

So I am reading that it’s quite difficult to get dla for under 5s?

I was confident I had good chances as I seem to have more evidence as some people here that were awarded. But now I’m not as confident!

I guess I am looking for some personal experience or from someone you know.

my daughter will be 3 next month

this is the evidence I’ve sent:

  • autism diagnosis (not great, talks about social struggles, communication etc, but not specific to how we actually struggle with
  • speech and language reports (4 different reports from a total of 3 therapists) a little better than the diagnosis report, talks more about my child’s struggles (no awareness of danger, non verbal, poor understanding, difficulties with attention an listening etc etc. It also says a lot “not as expected for a child her age”
  • early intervention team ( also a good report that points out sensory needs, cannot feed or dress herself, that she needs adult facilitation in all aspects of her daily living to support her, that she is at 12-18 months level for self help, cognition and gross motor and at a 6-12 months level for social development , language and imagination.

OT report has not arrived yet so not sure how good it is plus my daughter was having and amazing day and was particularly cooperative during OT visit, so not sure what report will say.🙈

my question is, am I right to think I should be able to get a MRC without appealing?
or because my daughter is not 3 yet things may be more difficult?

any experience/ opinions very welcome

@Wonermamma222 hey congrats! I’ve got the same scan date as you - just wondering when you got a call what were they asking you? Not specifically of course but generally was it asking questions about your child’s needs to clarify from the form or related to the evidence you gave/reports etc.? I haven’t received any calls/texts or anything so just nervous!

Thank you

sou

Thanks for your reply!
looking forward to hearing your result. With your EHCP as well I am sure you’ll be ok.
do let us know!

you actually remind me I will be getting soon the confirmation if my daughter will be accepted for a statutory need assessment for EHCP. I mean, it’s not as strong as an EHCP or even a draft, but I will add that too just to show that she is on the path of getting the EHCP.

we have also applied for a blue badge as we really struggle with keeping her safe in car parks and we’ve had way too many near misses, so if we get that soon I’ll add too

NormaLouiseBates · 15/11/2022 23:10

Is anyone else still waiting from a 1st August scan date? 🥺

Trustynickname · 15/11/2022 23:15

Scan date 9th aug, received first payment today. Wondering when I will receive a letter does anyone know? I didn’t get a text or letter just payment. Thank you

Kirsty111 · 16/11/2022 07:24

Is it just me or the closer i get the more anxious I am starting to 2nd guess my self with the evidence and filling out the form correctly really hoping my boy get what he deserves

LucasMummy88 · 16/11/2022 07:32

@hoplittlebunnieshophophop I feel the same way as you. My son is 2 & a half, I have sent quite a lot of evidence in, although he hasn’t received an autism diagnosis as we are still awaiting an assessment from the Paediatricians. I have read how difficult it is to get a claim approved for under 5’s so I’m not holding my breath. My scan date is 15th September. Good luck x

Shellbel10 · 16/11/2022 09:42

Does anyone know what scan date they’re working up to get this week please

Amymoody · 16/11/2022 10:33

Hill1991 · 16/11/2022 12:19

Amymoody · 16/11/2022 15:33

It should be done now i would have said. I rung today and a decision was made yesterday - scan date 12th August

Sammi85 · 16/11/2022 16:06

Scan date 17th August just had à text saying my son will get it sooo happy 😊

Shellbel10 · 16/11/2022 16:12

Brilliant news

Shellbel10 · 16/11/2022 16:14

What evidence had you sent @Sammi85

Navigatormum · 16/11/2022 17:25

Scan date August 11th.
I spoke with a lovely DLA customer handler, who advised that my renewal which was two days late is being treated as a new claim only went to the decision-maker on Sunday 12th of November and I should have a decision by next week at the latest.

Hang on in there lovelies, this entire process has been emotionally taxing but made easier with this groups support and information sharing. 💜

Jas9 · 16/11/2022 18:00

Mine is 10th august still waiting. Did call on monday she said it had gone to a Dm over the weekend but still not heard anything. X

Navigatormum · 16/11/2022 18:35

@Jas9 Everything crossed, stay strong 💕

Jas9 · 16/11/2022 19:09

You too! As much as all of our kids need and deserve the support its just frustrating seeing later scan dates awarded before ours. Ive only called up 3 times but feel like im mithering them for an update 😩x

Sammi85 · 16/11/2022 19:14

Just his diagnosis of autism and his ehcp x

Mrsamandac · 16/11/2022 20:01

I had a letter dated 14/08 saying they got my application 10/08, then a second letter 27/09 saying sorry it’s taking so long. I’ve not heard anything or received anything :( this wait is unbearable. DS 9 has diagnosed asd and adhd, I sent in the two letters confirming this along with his ehcp, ot report and educational psychologist report.

Sevenwolf · 16/11/2022 20:20

Does anyone know how long uc take to back date carers element and disabled child element?
