The thread for first time home birthers (or thinking about it) - over here!

I only just found out I was pregnant 10 days ago, and it is of course early days, but I have been doing a lot of research and am seriously thinking of having a home birth.

I'm a member of my Due March '09 ante natal club thread, but I don't want to go on about home birthing there where the majority will be planning a hospital birth (don't want to bore them!) I'd like to start this thread for all those people who'd like to talk about the pros and cons, planning, expectations and realities of home births, especially if it is your first baby, or first home birth.

Has everyone else's other halves been fine at the thought of a first baby HB? Or did you have to do some convincing?

o, that is such good news! I really think you'll have your baby today or tomorrow, by the sounds of things. I'm sure your DD will be pleased with that as well....

From what I can gather, the Midwife is going to do a couple more sweeps this week and then on Friday we'll have to decide on what the best course of action is. I'm not 42 weeks until next Tuesday so I may see if I can wait until then and if nothing happens get booked in for an induction.

Sorry for the TMI but I just been to the toilet and my discharge has gone a browny colour....?

holy jeepers....just had the sweep, blimey, that was a bit of an eye watering experience!

She said she'd do a thorough one just to make sure it was affective! I thought she was going to loose her hand up there.

Was already 1cm dilated, but I think that's normal anyway...but she did say baby's head was so low she was able to feel it and that when it came to the transition stage, it would be fairly straight forward because it's so low and in the right position.....sounds good to me!

All I need to do now is sit back and wait....

Crikey it's all go here! Sounds like you are both so close to your homebirths - am so excited for you both.

Am having back pain and generally can't-be-arsedness at work but still have another hour and a half to go today, and another week before I start maternity leave. Ugh.

Well, keep us updated! Can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures!

oooh have been dying to get on here all day to find out how you've both been getting on! Sounds promising and I guess no news is good news.

Helley · 09/02/2009 20:07

Hey, it's nice to see so many people following this! Just hope me and Givethedog can deliver.....literally! Thank you for the support.

The pains have really died down since my sweep this afternoon....I hope that doesn't mean it was all in vain! Still bleeding a little and I have had to empty my bowls which was a bit surprising!

Will keep you posted!

ceb80 · 09/02/2009 21:33

Bummer Helley that things have died down, fingers crossed that they start up again! Thanks for keeping us updated.
