Has anyone had a labour that's just not that painful?

I am having regular contractions, 15ish minutes apart (but closest together only 2 apart!), but... they're just not that painful! I know I have quite a high pain threshold and these definitely aren't BH, but not sure what to do at this point. Just wait until they're intolerable and then start thinking about the hospital? For various reasons I'd rather not have a homebirth... (difficult last labour with OP baby, parents are docs and violently opposed so although personally I love the idea don't want to stress them out...)

not a lot, i;m afraid. but ask me anyway!

Swedes · 19/04/2008 21:37

With DS2 I had very manageable 10 mins apart contractions and went to hospital to find that I was 7cm dilated and he was born less than two hours later. I only really went in because we lived 1.5 hours from the hospital and it was evening etc etc. My waters didn't go until the last half an hour. No show either if irc.

GordonRamsay · 19/04/2008 21:39

No problem.
I read the paper, went off and got lunch, and asked her not to squeeze my hand quite so hard. Don't know what all the fuss is about.

oooooh yes!! i was feeling them alright

it was a peculiar feeling, i felt a bubbling and the most immense pressure, and then BANG! my waters went audibly. i had a nanosecond of relief and then i knew it was going to get worse as no cushining between DDs head and my cervix. she was born a couple of hours later

ImightbeLulumama · 19/04/2008 21:46

anyway, scampmum, am off to bed, but i hope all goes well for you, and i shall check back in the morning

night starlight, i left my email address on teh bar thread for you

sleep well all xx

Have definitely heard from two recent birthers (both 2nd timers too) that they had very similar experiences, ctx not painful or that regular, waters broke, suddenly PAIN and acceleration. Had assumed because they both had much longer 1st stages last time that I would be racing ahead. I guess there just aren't any rules?

Here are my times (may not work) - missed some out!

Yes, a bit, not much. Still I wouldn't say painful. Quite painful at the 'crest', I suppose. Have taken over timing myself!

How do I delete that annoying timings post?

OP posts:
Scampmum · 19/04/2008 21:59

Feel a bit despondent. Now feel like I'm just making myself have them as they tend to be when I get up and move, walk around, go up the stairs etc. I honestly feel like I could go to bed and go to sleep and probably sleep through the contractions but a) don't want baby to go back to back and b) am worried would only wake up when too late to go to hospital.

Yep, still talk through them no worries. Was definitely further along this long after first ctx last time - I need to stop comparing, right?

That's true! Have sat on the sofa now to see if I have one anyway (or am I 'making' myself have them) and haven't had one for 16 mins! BOOOOOOOOOOO.

Hi, I'm new. I've been following yr progress with fascination . If I were you I'd go to bed. I was told to get straight to hospital with my second but when I got there everything slowed right down and she wasn't born until the next morning. Good luck.

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 22:11

I am seriously thinking about it! Just had a small one but it was really nothing. I think I'll wait like 10-20 more minutes, then go to bed. No point in losing a night's sleep now for nothing...

When I have my REAL labour thread people will just look at it, shake their heads ("not her again...") and go elsewhere!
