Has anyone had a labour that's just not that painful?

I am having regular contractions, 15ish minutes apart (but closest together only 2 apart!), but... they're just not that painful! I know I have quite a high pain threshold and these definitely aren't BH, but not sure what to do at this point. Just wait until they're intolerable and then start thinking about the hospital? For various reasons I'd rather not have a homebirth... (difficult last labour with OP baby, parents are docs and violently opposed so although personally I love the idea don't want to stress them out...)

I had several hours of what you are describingt hat I didnt realise was anything much with Sebastian- and you know I expect how quick that was once i realised (as in realised and called MW at midnight, baby here at 12.35 )

be prepared for it to speed up massively!

Good luck X

Yes, I was thinking of you, Peachy, because I had been having sensations yesterday then DD was poorly and being really attention-seeking and it all tailed off.

I just don't know if I'm making a fuss about nothing! They're really so unpainful I'm not quite sure how to time them. Bump goes solid as a ROCK, though - it's definitely, definitely not BH. Haven't had a show and waters haven't gone. ARGH I'm going to be the mumsnet girl who cried wolf!

DD being read her story. Feel very emotional about it potentially being her last night as our only child.

I had very, very manageable contractions with ds2. Went on the bus to hospital, having to walk around a bit in contractions ut still not 'in pain'. Had no show, waters hadn't gone. Got there, was 9cm and gave birth just over half an hour later.

Be prepared! Good luck

Scampmum · 19/04/2008 19:22

Thank you - that's a more encouraging story than the 'my birth story' I just ill-advisedly read... lovely story but too much about pain for me at this stage!

that last half hour hurt like hell though...

(...but it was always just about bearable. And I had no pain relief at all - Germany doesn't do G&A)

Yes, that's a very good idea. DD's godfather and my sis round now with the TENS, ctx between 5-10 minutes apart. Still not painful! Do feel like I'm hoodwinking everyone...

I am here. We're going to go for a walk round the block. Still kind of unsure... they seem to be tailing off a bit

Hang on....just noticed you're not due til 25th - you can just wait your turn!

ShellySara · 19/04/2008 20:15

Sorry to hijack, so first: Go Scampmum!!

Can you really have contractions with no, or very little, pain???

How can you tell the difference between the branston hicks and real ones?

EllieG · 19/04/2008 20:18

People say that real ones hurt. BH feel tight and might take your breath away a bit, but aren't hurty so much as a bit uncomfy. Mine don't hurt anyway, it all just goes a bit rock hard for a bit. But I haven't had any real ones yet so may be talking bollocks of course! Someone wise will advise on this soon.
